LETTER FROM OUR PASTOR/CARTA DE NUESTRO PARROCO

3 MARCH 7 & 8, 2020/7 y 8 de Marzo, 2020 SECOND SUNDAY OF LENT

Dear Parishioners,

Because of your generous contributions to the Encountering Christ

Campaign we are able to begin the important project of the pews and

kneelers in the church. The first phase of the project will be the re-

placement of the kneelers.

Our Parish Finance Council, Pastoral Council and Building Committee

have met to review this project so that we could attain a clear idea of

its scope and phases. Recently, our Building Committee met with rep-

resentatives from American Pew and Bench who will accomplish this

project for us. The cost of $40,000 will be covered by our parish share

formula of the Encountering Christ Campaign.

Some of the specifications are: new kneeler frames and brackets, 1-

1/4 inch foam covered in the same fabric (Shire-Bricktown) as that

used in the new kneelers and pew cushions in the Adoration Chapel.

The company will dispose of the old kneelers.

We are hopeful that the project of the replacement of all the kneelers

in the church will begin soon and completed in April.

We have an opportunity to begin a new ministry in our parish: The

Prayer Shawl Ministry. Everyone is invited and welcome to participate.

Those involved in this ministry create shawls to be given to those in

need as a sign of caring and prayer. Please know that if you would like

to participate in this ministry but do not know how to knit, instruction in

knitting is part of the program. Everyone is welcome to attend an ini-

tial planning meeting this week on Thursday, March 12 at 10:00 a.m.

in the Youth Ministry Room (#120). Please enter from the outside into

the main building across from the Adoration Chapel.

Gracias a sus generosas contribuciones a la Campaña Encuentro con

Cristo, podemos comenzar el importante proyecto de los bancos y

arrodillados en la iglesia. La primera fase del proyecto será el reempla-

zo de las rodillas.

Nuestro Consejo Financiero Parroquial, el Consejo Pastoral y el Comité

de Construcción se han reunido para revisar este proyecto para que

podamos tener una idea clara de su alcance y fases. Recientemente,

nuestro Comité de Construcción se reunió con representantes de

American Pew and Bench que llevarán a cabo este proyecto por no-

sotros. El costo de $ 40,000 será cubierto por nuestra fórmula de

FLU AND VIRUS PRECAUSTION

Bishop Vasquez has put measures in place for all the parishes of

the Diocese to limit the spread of the flu (influenza) and virus.

These measures are temporary and they are in place in order to

protect the health of everyone at Mass.

The holy water bowls have been removed from the church door areas. The

fountain continues in use because the circulating water is filtered.

We are asked to not hold hands at the Lord’s Prayer and to bow for the Sign of

Peace rather than shaking hands or embracing. One method is to keep our

hands folded in prayer during the Our Father until the Sign of Peace when we

can bow toward one another with our hands folded.

The distribution of the Precious Blood by the cup at Holy Communion is discon-

tinued for the time being. Please remember that the fullness of the Body and

the Blood of Christ are present in the Eucharistic Bread.

We are asked to receive Holy Communion in our hand rather than on the

tongue. This measure may be difficult to follow for those who are accustomed

to receiving the Body of Christ on their tongue. The Eucharistic ministers have

been instructed to not withhold Holy Communion from a person who desires to

receive the Body of Christ on their tongue.

If you are ill, please refrain from attending Mass. When a person is sick or

bound to their home the obligation of Sunday Mass can be fulfilled by partici-

pating in Mass via radio or television.

Thank you for your kind attention to these measures that are put in place tem-

porarily by our Diocese.

PRECAUCIÓN DE GRIPE Y VIRUS

El obispo Vásquez ha implementado medidas para que todas las

parroquias de la diócesis limiten la propagación de la gripe

(influenza) y el virus. Estas medidas son temporales y están vigentes

para proteger la salud de todos en la misa.

Los cuencos de agua bendita han sido retirados de las áreas de las

puertas de la iglesia. La fuente continúa en uso porque el agua circulante se

filtra.

Se nos pide que no tomemos de la mano la Oración del Señor y que hagamos

una reverencia ante el Signo de la Paz en lugar de estrechar la mano o abra-

zarnos. Un método es mantener las manos juntas en oración durante el Padre

Nuestro hasta el Signo de la Paz, cuando podemos inclinarnos el uno hacia el

otro con las manos juntas.

La distribución de la Preciosa Sangre por la copa en la Sagrada Comunión se

interrumpe por el momento. Por favor recuerde que la plenitud del Cuerpo y la

Sangre de Cristo están presentes en el Pan Eucarístico.

Se nos pide que recibamos la Sagrada Comunión en nuestra mano y no en la

lengua. Esta medida puede ser difícil de seguir para aquellos que están acos-

tumbrados a recibir el Cuerpo de Cristo en su lengua. Los ministros eucarísti-

cos han recibido instrucciones de no retener la Sagrada Comunión de una

persona que desea recibir el Cuerpo de Cristo en su lengua.

Si está enfermo, no asista a la misa. Cuando una persona está enferma o

vinculada a su hogar, la obligación de la misa dominical se puede cumplir

participando en la misa por radio o televisión.
