HOME IS WHERE THE FAMILY IS
The idea, dream, and reality of family
is so strong and durable that we use it to
describe all that is best about human
gatherings. We speak of the family of
nations, of our church and parish fami-lies. The greatest compliment we can
pay a friend or gracious host is to say
that we feel at home with them, we feel part of the family.
Families are the first crucibles in which love is tested and
tempered. Jesus himself was one of three people who lived in
the shadow of each other. This family, like our own, did not
always “get it right,” but they always tried to. These three
“amateurs” were on holiday, and one of them got lost. Two
were worried sick and took great measures to find the third, a
boy after all, who was seeking the meaning of his calling. He
found his vocation—to do his Father’s work—but he also returned home with his parents. Copyright © J. S. Paluch

CHILD FAITH FORMATION The Children’s Faith Formation program is on Christmas break. The classes will resume on Tuesday, Jan. 8th. The Confirmation I students and a few Confirmation II students, are reminded of their required attendance of the Youth Rally in Mission
Dolores on Jan. 5, 2013 starting at 2:30 p.m. Bishop Justice will be the celebrant at the Youth Mass, and tours of Mission Dolores will be available throughout the event for families. There will be Children's Liturgy of the Word at 10:00 a.m. Mass on Sunday, Jan. 6th. The First Communion families will also meet on Jan. 6th, at 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Confirmation II class room, and older communion students will have their sacrament preparation class at the same time. On January 5-6, 2013, as we celebrate the Feast of the Epiphany, the parish community is invited to bring to the Sunday Liturgy gifts of undergarments, gently used jackets and other warm wear for men and women. Like the Wise Ones who visited the Lord, we offer these gifts as a sign of love to people in our community who are in need. We care for God’s people by giving warmth, prayer and hope. Our donations will be sorted and bagged by the confirmation students and then taken to a local non-profit organization for distribution to our neighbors in need. Thank you for your generosity!
Question of the Week: Lower Level (4-6)
Where did Mary and Joseph think Jesus was? What do we learn about Jesus in this story?
Higher Level (7 and above)
Can you identify with Jesus in this wonderful story from Luke’s Gospel?
How can you put God first in your life?
