Alive’s Thirty Hour Famine
March 30-31, 2012
This weekend our young people from Alive, Saint Richard’s 7th, 8th and 9th grade youth group, participated in a 30 Hour Famine. Every two minutes, 40 children die from hunger and hun-
ger related diseases. That’s 40 children and those deaths are completely preventable. That is why our Alive Youth Group decided to “Help Feed the World on an Empty Stomach.” They
decided to do something to help stop world hunger by not eating for 30 hours. By going 30 hours without food, our youth got a taste of what it is like to be hungry. This weekend our young people will be collecting money after all the Masses. All the money they collect will be
donated to World Vision and will be used to help stop hunger.

St. Richard BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT GROUP Meets Thursday, April 12, 6:30 p.m.
"Living with Guilt when a Loved One Dies"
The St. Richard Bereavement Support Group will meet on THURSDAY, April 12, at 6:30 p.m. in the Mercy Room. Parish-ioner Pat Walden, Director of Pastoral Care at St. Dominic’s Hospital, will be sharing on “Living with Guilt when a Loved
One Dies”. Pat’s husband, Cecil, died after a lengthy illness several years ago.
Almost all of us who have lost loved ones have been troubled with "if I had only said.... or done... or had not said or done....". We can get caught in this guilt trap, which can then lead to depression and despair. Come and hear how others
have dealt with and controlled these painful feelings.
This group meets every second Thursday and is for all who are hurting from losing a loved one or for those who are trying to comfort and understand the grief of a family member or friend. You need not be Catholic nor attend St. Richard church. Tell a friend about it or bring a friend who is hurting. If you have questions or just need to talk to someone, please call
Suzie Cranston at 601-601-982-5464, Cathy Reynolds at 601-750-8224 or Nancy McGhee at 601-942-2078 or email [email protected] .

Good Friday Collection Christians around the world are united in a special way during Lent, Holy Week and Easter. Our hearts, minds and prayers are also especially aware of the Holy Land. Our parish, once a year on Good Friday, is called on to support
Christians in the Holy Land. Many Christians in the Holy Land depend on the collection for their lives.
As a pontifical collection requested by Pope Benedict XVI, the annual Good Friday collection offers a direct link for parishioners to be witnesses of peace and to help protect the Holy Places. When you donate on Good Friday, you are
supporting Christians in the Holy Land.
Franciscans and others in the Holy Land are housing and feeding the poor, providing formation and education, maintaining shrines and parishes, and conducting pastoral ministry. For more information, visit www.myfranciscan.org.
The Good Friday collection is requested by the Holy Father. Please be as generous as your abundance allows. Collection baskets will be located in the back of the church.
