Commitment and Guiding PrinciplesRGB approaches architecture with
an interdisciplinary, “can do”
attitude. As a firm, we are generalists
that leverage experiences and
relationships from across markets
throughout our portfolio.
RGB has served public and private
institutions in capacities that run
the gamut from pre-planning,
programming, and master planning to
design development and construction
administration. We couple our
technical ability and creative nature
with a desire to serve those around us
and to shape our local environment
for the better.
OverviewA Providence-based firm with 65 years of successful history to our
name, RGB is a trusted provider of architectural and engineering
services in New England. We provide award-winning planning,
architectural, engineering, and interior design services. RGB’s
multidisciplinary team of professionals has designed a broad range
of buildings and facilities, and over the course of the years, we’ve
stayed leaders in our region.
LEED Expertise. RGB has helped lead Rhode Island architecture
in benchmarking design against environmental impact. We were
a founding member of the Rhode Island chapter of the U.S. Green
Building Council and designed the first LEED-certified building in
the State at Rhode Island College, completed in 2007.
Design Expertise. RGB has received recognition in numerous
design competitions. In 2011, RGB was awarded a National

knowledge to our designs. We have renovated more than five million
square feet in the last five years alone. Our robust quality control has
kept change order rates very low at less than two percent.
4
ExperienceRGB has served the majority of regional institutions
on multiple occasions. The State of Rhode Island
and the its towns and municipalities, as well as
many businesses and non-profit organizations
operating in the region are regular clients who
select us for large or complex projects. RGB has a
strong capability in environmental design and in
modernizing historic structures.
In 2011, in partnership with HOK, RGB completed
a detailed feasibility study for a shared Nursing
Education Center to be sited in Providence. We
also completed a feasibility study and schematic
design for a proposed $35 million renovation and
expansion of Rhode Island College’s Student Union.
We also completed planning and schematic design
for large mixed-use facilities to be sited in Rhode
Island and in Puerto Rico.
RGB has completed major projects across many
client sectors. Our 65-year history is comprised of
service to the communities of Rhode Island and
southern New England in all of their public and
private endeavors.
In the following pages, we depict several recent

Rhode Island BoaRd of GoveRnoRs foR hIGheR educatIon – study foR a shaRed nuRsInG educatIon centeRIn 2010, RGB and HOK Architects of New York City were commissioned by the RIBGHE to conduct a feasibility study for a new nursing education facility to be sited in the Knowledge District of Providence, Rhode Island. The study investigated construction of a single building that would be utilized by programs from the State of Rhode Island’s public nursing programs versus separate new construction projects for programs at both The University of Rhode Island and Rhode Island College.
This comprehensive study evaluated data concerning the future supply of and demand for nurses in the State in relation to educational attainment levels, healthcare industry standards, and current educational facility capacity. Using 30 evaluation factors, the study ranked 11 potential sites on State land vacated by a newly-relocated Interstate 195 and on private parcels. Public and private development options, parking, optimal building footprint and conceptual floor plans, and potential collaborations with area educational institutions, healthcare providers, and research facilities were also fully detailed.
Programmatically, the study proposed the vision for the new nursing education center, which would incorporate state-of-the-art higher education concepts such as flexible, student-centered classrooms and learning commons, coordinated nursing simulation technologies, themed areas and floor plans, and dedicated research spaces.
Completed in May 2011 and presented to the Rhode Island State legislature, the study estimated total development and construction costs for a single nursing education building to be in excess of $60 million.

Rhode Island colleGe – Paul v. sheRlock centeRThe project consisted of renovating an unoccupied, 11,350 SF, two-story structure that was previously
part of the Rhode Island State Home and School into the new Paul V. Sherlock Center on Disabilities,
whose mission is to promote community membership of disabled individuals in school, work, and
society.
The program included a resource library, training center, conference rooms, and offices.
Working within the existing topography, site context, a tight budget, and a new parking lot, a 900
square foot addition was constructed to incorporate a new entry, lobby, elevator, and egress stair.
The $3.3 million project, which was completed in July 2009, also includes an expanded parking area.
8
MuRano town centeR – GuaynaBo, PueRto RIcoRGB completed planning and design for a mixed use development in Puerto Rico. The proposed development consists of 300,000
square feet of retail, 26,000 square feet of residential condominiums and 630,000 square feet of residential high rise, along with
a 350 bed hotel and conference center and 900,000 square feet of office space. The property is 18 acres of developable land and
fulfills the need area within the island limits. Its architecture is captured by various elements of the surrounding area, but separates
itself from other mixed use by its use of materials and relationship between pedestrian and vehicular movements. The development
takes into consideration pedestrian resting areas and meeting places as well as bus stop off places. This modern lifestyle center also
utilizes office components and towers as elements which will retain commercial and retail clients alike.
10
InteRModal BusIness centeR of Rhode Island – waRwIck, RIIn 2011, RGB provided design, planning, and marketing services related to the Intermodal
Business Center, a 750,000 square foot mixed-use facility comprised of offices, meeting and
convention space, retail, hotel, and six-story parking garage to be sited adjacent to T.F. Green
Airport, mere steps from the RGB-designed Interlink Skywalk. Pedestrian scaled and finely
detailed limestone arched bases give way to soaring glass and masonry facades, capped by
limestone entablatures. The first two buildings of the proposed six building complex are being
designed to achieve LEED Gold.
11
Rhode Island colleGe – new ResIdence hallThe project consisted of a new 367-bed 124,900 GSF residence hall. The $28 million project was completed in August 2007. The hall offers students and
administration recreation, study and office space. Units accommodate four students each; single and double bedroom occupancy apartments; some with
kitchens and common in-room living space.
The residence hall is LEED certified; a first for Rhode Island.

Rhode Island colleGe – study foR a new student unIonIn 2011, RGB and ForeSite partnered in this study which led to the recommendation of an expansion and renovation to the
current student union facility estimated at $35 million. The study benchmarked against student union size, operating and fee
structures, and impacts at comparable institutions in the region, garnered student and faculty input into current facility deficits
and future needs, and developed a program that allowed site plans, massing studies, floor plans, and a three-dimensional
conceptual model to be developed.
The Student Community Government has approved the recommended action.
Key areas of study include:• Development of a Building Program with spaces to support a comprehensive center for student and campus life
• Assessment of current space and physical infrastructure
• Benchmarking of peer and aspirant institutions in order to meet future trends and maintain market competitiveness
• Recommendations for expansion to the current facility and reconfiguring placement of multipurpose venue, meeting rooms, retail, lounge, student services, food vendors, student organization office and student affairs related offices
• Identification of order of magnitude cost estimate required to create a facility that meets program requirements

Rhode Island state PolIce headquaRteRsThe unveiling of the new Rhode Island Public Safety Complex on October
22 , 2010 marked the consolidation of the RI State Police (RISP) main
headquarters in addition to supporting office departments such as the
Criminal Investigation Unit (CIU), Bureau of Criminal Identification (BCI),
and Patrol, Detective and Administrative Bureaus. Another significant
component to the complex is the inclusion of the new headquarters of
Rhode Island’s E-911 Primary Public Call Answer.
The exterior of the 56,400 square feet, three-story masonry building
evokes the existing State Police Headquarters, with its formal Georgian
style, as well as other barracks facilities located throughout the state—
but the overall design incorporates contemporary building materials and
construction techniques.
The facility layers levels of protection that start at the site perimeter and
move inward to the interior of the building. Both passive and active
security design strategies are implemented.
The new State Police facility includes a control and dispatch suite, five
detective suites, five interview rooms, holding and processing for ten
detainees, an evidence storage suite, CIU labs, vehicle bay exam, and a
sally port. A 35 seat high-tech conference center was designed for multi-
uses such as press conferences. The E-911 facility was designed to include
24-hour support facilities such as a break room, locker room and showers.
Building Features:
• 56,400 square feet with a $27 million construction cost consolidates
outdated buildings and multiple functional groups under one roof
• Latest technologies for communications and traffic management
feeds from highway cameras
• State-of-the-art emergency call and command center
• State-of-the-art conference center with wireless adaptability and
high-tech audiovisual equipment
• Refined, Georgian style with modern, high-performance LEED design
and construction

RIPta PaRa-tRansIt facIlItyRGB has completed several major projects for RIPTA in the past decade. RGB was
most recently retained by RIPTA to design a $34 million expansion of their facilities.
The LEED-certified project completed in 2009 consists of three major components:
RIPTA Administration Offices; RIde Para-Transit Bus interior storage; RIde Para-Transit
bus maintenance. The intent of the building design was to create a new facility with
state-of-the-art equipment to accommodate RIPTA’s existing and future Para-Transit
fleet needs while respecting the turn-of-the-century industrial history of the Elmwood
area. This was done by designing the 139,400 SF structure using steel and masonry
with modern techniques and in traditional form.
The facility incorporates the latest in security, data, and repair equipment. A white
reflective roofing system helps to keep the building cool and large skylights are
designed to bring 80 fc of natural light into the maintenance facility.

InteRlInk skywalk at t.f. GReen aIRPoRtSpanning the upper and lower access roads to the main terminal at T.F. Green Airport,
metropolitan Providence and the region’s major airport, the 1,200-foot, elevated and
enclosed steel and glass bridge acts as a symbolic gateway for travelers coming to and
leaving Rhode Island.
More than a bridge, the Interlink Skywalk includes a new vertical transportation atrium
from the terminal building to the glass enclosed elevated horizontal pedestrian corridor,
terminating in a vertical enclosure down to short term parking, rental car customer service,
and MBTA passenger service.
The design echoes the gracefully sloped wing of an airplane and the roof of the main
terminal while giving departing passengers a vista across the bustling runways.
