This year’s speaker is Allison Spear and I promise you will love her! You will laugh till your sides split but also hear God’s word. Wor-ship with Kim McLean and Devon O’Day is always awesome! Details, cost, schedule, etc., are on the bulletin board. You can start making payments now toward the cost. Just make checks payable to the church and mark them “Ladies Retreat”. We’ll keep track of your balance and apply it at registration! I hope you’ll join us! Follow us on Facebook! Every two years each district is assigned a missionary to correspond with. This is called LINKS (Loving Interested Nazarenes Knowing and Sharing.) This program connects us to our missionaries so we become familiar with them and their work, and encourages them knowing there are people who care and pray for them. Our missionary family is Brian and Jill Tibbs who are serv-ing in Ecuador. There is more information posted on the bulletin board. Deb Cook

Hey Kids, It’s already time to head back to the classroom! We have a few things that I want to remind you and your families about before summer break ends. Backpack Blessings Sunday and the Church Pool Party are both on August 7. Every child in attendance Sunday morning will receive a backpack filled with school supplies that will be blessed by our congregation to show our love and support for each student and the upcoming school year. If your child already has a backpack and school supplies, we ask that you donate the one from our Backpack Blessing to their classroom. Sunday evening from 5:30pm to 7:30pm, we will meet at the Portland Pool to celebrate the summer break one last time. Bring a friend, your families, canned soft drinks, and/or your favorite cookies to share. Hot dogs, buns, and chips will be provided. Kids who are under the age of 12 must have a parent stay with them at the pool the entire time. I hope you are all excited about the upcoming school year and are ready for all the learning adventures that are ahead. You, your parents, your teachers, your classrooms, and your schools will all be in my prayers. Remember kids, going to school is your job so remember this Bible verse… Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. Colossians 3:23-24

Sunday School News
Did you know that Sunday school first began in 1786 in Gloucester, England, to educate children who couldn’t go to school during the week because they were working full-time jobs?! (from Rediscovering the Sunday School by Talmadge Johnson and Stan Toler, 2000) WOW! Have we come a long way! Now Sunday school teaches children and adults about Jesus and the Bible. And don’t forget the awesome fellowship! With the start of another school year, many of our kiddos will be moving to a new Sunday school class on August 7
th, Promotion Sunday! Highlighting the growth of our
children is such a wonderful privilege for our church. Make sure you get a seat with an eagle-eye view!
In upcoming newsletters, I’ll continue highlighting Sunday school classes. In the meantime, check out the advertisement sheets located at the welcome desk and posted throughout both buildings.
