Riesling tastings and seminars,beer tastings, artisan cheese samplings and a harvest-resharmers market with vendors galore will please your palate.Live entertainment, arts and crats, a 5K Riesling Run onSaturday and a Classic and Exotic Car Show on Sunday willcompliment this years lively estival activities.

A portion o the estivals proceeds benet the CanandaiguaFamily YMCA, to help individuals attend and participate inprograms and activities oered there.

To date, the Finger Lakes Riesling Festival has raised morethan $101,000 or the Canandaigua YMCA, which helpedpay or kids, adults, teens and seniors to attend the Y. TheRiesling Festival is not only a great way to raise money tobenet a local cause, but it showcases the great FingerLakes region. It has something to oer or everyone!

The estival continues to grow, and provides an opportunityor the Finger Lakes region to enhance its reputation or

world-class culture.Each vendor invites estivalgoers to taste their Rieslingsplus one additional variety. The New York State Crat BeerTent presented by Wegmans is takes place both Saturdayand Sunday, and cheese and ood pairings are abundant.

Rieslings rom this area have neverhad the notoriety that they now

enjoy. Pick up a major wine magazineand you are sure to nd our area wineshighly rated. Wine Spectator hails theFinger Lakes as the answer to the MoselRiver in Germany. Well now, let me justgrab my lederhosen and a glass; Ill meetyou at Hermann Wiemer!

Typically, Riesling is a wine that can stand alone.You wouldnt nd the need to blend it, as it is an

elegant and age worthy wine when given theright growing conditions. And, Rieslings play nicely with othervarietals and the results are delicious!

Chardonnay is ast becoming a suitable and widely acceptedpairing or this crisp, acidic white. What comes to mind whenmost people think o Chardonnay is a big, at, buttery Caliornia-style o wine. Chardonnays rom the Finger Lakes, at their truenature, tend to be leaner, more acidic and French Chablis

in style. The Luckystone White rom SheldrakePoint on Cayuga Lake is a crisp, slightly o-dry

blend o Riesling, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay andGewrztraminer. Its a delicious summer wine
