M.H.P.A. Fall Meeting Minutes

September 03, 2016 7:00 – 8:00 pm Meeting, Location: V.F.W. Hall, Kalamazoo, MI

Officers in Attendance: Paul Bachelor, Mark Burns, Roger Higgins, John Stephenson

Paul Bachelor called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

1. Minutes for the Spring Meeting, read by Roger Higgins. Motion to approve minutes by Debbie Markley, Dan Markley

seconded. Membership approved.

2. Financial Report by Roger Higgins, balance in the Jr. Fund is $2,486.93; checking account balance is $731.49; Hall of Fame

balance is $1,208.95. John Stephenson made a motion to put the financial report on file; 2nd by Dan Markley.

3. First Vice President, John Stephenson, Nothing at this time.

4. Second Vice President, Mark Burns, and no grievances at this time.

5. Secretary/Treasurer Report by Roger Higgins: membership total-171, 40 new members total is down by 3 members. Ron

Kohn Paid for 25 out of the 40 new members.

6. Hall of Fame Chairperson, Bob Wells announced that two members were elected to the Hall of Fame. Inductions will be

held on Sunday, September 4, 2016.

7. St Jude’s Chairperson, Keith Shaffer collected $38.00 so far

8. Audit and Finance Report read by Bob Wells. Audit was conducted on 7/10 /2016. $12.00 error was fond when the bank

charged for service when they shouldn’t have. He stated that the M.H.P.A. checking account was balanced and all

receipts where in order.

9. Old business; No old business

10. New Business: No new business

11. Memorandum of President: No bids at this time for the 2017 State Tournament; 2017 World Tournament is in St.

George Utah July 17th – 31st. Florence S.Carolina was voted in for 2018. M.H.P.A. had 24 pitchers at Montgomery, Al

World tournament. Thanks to Debbie Markley for doing the 50-50 raffles. She has done a great job for the M.H.P.A. We

need to try to recruit new members. Judy Curtiss was put into the life time membership.

12. Publicity Chairperson, Keith Schafer Nothing at this time.

13. Jr. Director, Kevin Smith: Nothing to report.

14. Election of Officers: President, Paul Bachelor won by acclamation, 2nd Vice-President, Mark Burns won by acclamation.

Woody Cup Challenge —

On Saturday, September 17, 2016,

four teams gathered at the Lake Orion

courts for the Woody Cup Challenge .

They came from Lansing, Lake Orion,

Lincoln Park and St. Clair Shores.

Unfortunately, the weather did not

cooperate and this tournament was

postponed until Saturday, September

16, 2017 to be held at Lake Orion.

Open pitching …..

Mark your calendar for Thursday,

November 3rd, as this will be the start of

our open pitching held at the Jackson

facility. The start time is 1:00 p.m. and
