David Byrne Director of Dining Services Ringling College of Art & Design Originally from Rochester, Massachusetts, David Byrne carries a foundation of dynamic leadership, diverse experience, and first-rate guest service. With over twenty five years of food service, David joined Chartwells Higher Education following fifteen years with Restaurant Associates. During this time, he provided innovative food service to some of the top accounts in New York City such as Bear Stearns, UBS, and Ernst & Young. David also assisted in the openings of some of Compass Group’s most prominent accounts including Google, HBO, Ogilvy & Mather, and Conde Nast. Byrne’s favorite feature of working for Chartwells Higher Education is collaborating with some of the brightest minds in the food service industry. Upon joining the Ringling College of Art & Design community, Byrne describes the community’s immediate impact on him: “The friendly outgoing demeanor of the students, faculty, and staff has been energizing. I look forward to developing a high level food program that matches the creativity of our campus.” During his personal time, David enjoys relaxing with his wife, Bridget, as their life revolves around their beautiful nine month year old son, Conor. Ringling Dining Services Welcomes New Leadership Chartwells Higher Education turns the page on campus dining program with new management and fresh ideas to the Hammond Commons, Brickman Café, Outtakes, and Catering Services. Sarasota, FL (Monday, April 25, 2016) -- Change and enhancements are coming. As the Ringling community begins to wind down another academic year, Chartwells Higher Education and Ringling Dining Services remain vibrant with a profound sense of menu ingenuity and passion for the Ringling dining experience. Led by the addition of their two new directors, students as well as faculty and staff will enjoy an enriching dining experience in Fall 2016. The Ringling community has already expressed their joy for the dining team’s latest actions to enhance the Hammond Commons. Perhaps their most popular execution lies in their inaugural “Meal Plan Appreciation Week” earlier this month. As a token of gratitude to end the year, Ringling Dining Services hosted an enhanced menu at the Hotline of the Hammond Commons during lunch for five consecutive days. From Shrimp Scampi, BBQ Ribs, and Seared Steak, the Ringling community was ecstatic with the exceptional quality and menu variety. Students and staff can expect the same vigor in building last memories and stretching the origins and scope of Ringling’s weekly menu. Chartwells is also investing in a brand new coffee venue at the highly anticipated Alfred R. Goldstein Library in 2018. Michael McGuire Executive Campus Chef Ringling College of Art & Design Born and raised in Ruskin, Florida, Executive Chef Michael McGuire found his passion for the culinary arts during his early teenage years. In fact, Chef Michael began competing in culinary contests at just fourteen years old! Prior to joining Chartwells Higher Education, McGuire built his experience through ten years of high-end catering for various celebrities and public figures. He also holds eight years of culinary expertise within competition for Pro Start, FCCLA, and Johnson & Wales University. Chef Michael’s favorite part of working with Chartwells Higher Education is holding the ability to set trends, provide top-notch service, and grant students an experience they will never forget. Upon joining the Ringling College of Art & Design, Chef Michael describes the immediate impact: “Go big or go home! Our students are continually driven by their passion for the arts. I am excited to embrace this and truly think outside of the box.” During his personal time, Chef Michael thrives off of his pure love for music.
