    Hermann Haller MD

    Hermann Haller is Full Professor and Chair in the Division of Nephrology, Hannover Medical School. He

    sits on the editorial boards of several journals including Diabetologia, Hypertension and the Journal of

    Hypertension. His major scientific interests are: Pathogenesis and consequences of hypertension and

    kidney and vessel injury and regeneration.

    Sadayoshi Ito MD, PhD

    Sadayoshi Ito is Vice Dean for the Graduate School of Medicine at the Tohoku University School of

    Medicine, and Professor in the Division of Nephrology, Endocrinology and Vascular Medicine. He is a

    recipient of the Young Investigator Award (First Prize), from the Inter-American Society of Hypertension

    and the Established Investigator Award, from the American Heart Association.

    Joseph L. Izzo MD, PhD

    Joseph Izzo is Professor of Medicine at the State University of New York in Buffalo and Clinical Director of

    Medicine, Erie County Medical Center, Buffalo, NY. In a highly distinguished career he has received a

    considerable number of awards and honours. He was a founding member of the American Society of

    Hypertension and has been a Fellow of the Council for High Blood Pressure Research for the American

    Heart Association since 1983.

    Andrzej Januszewicz MD, PhD

    Andrzej Januszewicz is Chief of the Department of Hypertension, at the Institute of Cardiology, Warsaw,

    Poland. His major clinical and research fields are related to the pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of

    primary and secondary forms of hypertension, including pheochromocytoma and renovascular

    hypertension.

    Shigehiro Katayama MD, PhD

    Shigehiro Katayama is Director of the Saitama Medical University Hospital, Japan. He is also Professor

    and Chairman of the Division of Endocrinology and Diabetes in the same hospital. He is a member of

    several professional societies including The Endocrine Society and the American Diabetes Association.

    Albert Mimran MD, PhD

    Albert Mimran is Chief of the Division of Hypertension, Department of Internal Medicine, at the University of

    Montpellier, France. He is a Past- President of the International Society of Hypertension and his main areasof research are, Hypertension and the kidney, Experimental and clinical renal protection and Dietary salt

    and cardiovascular and renal abnormalities.

    Antonius J. Rabelink MD, PhD

    Antonius J. Rabelink is Chair of the University Profile Vascular and Regenerative Medicine department at

    Leiden University Medical Center, The Netherlands. He is an active member of several professional

    societies and serves on the board of a number of notable organisations including as Chair of the Scientific

    Board of the Dutch Heart Foundation and of the Scientific Board of the Dutch Kidney Foundation.

    Eberhard Ritz MD, PhD

    Eberhard Ritz is affiliated with the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Heidelberg,

    Germany. He is the immediate past president of the International Society of Nephrology and his main

    interests concern calcium metabolism in renal failure, hypertension and the kidney, diabetic nephropathy

    and cardiac problems in renal failure.

    Luis M. Ruilope MD, PhD

    Luis M. Ruilope is Head of the Hypertension Unit 12 at the Octubre Hospital, Madrid, Spain. He is the

    current President of the Spanish Hypertension Society and International Fellow of the Council for High

    Blood Pressure Research and of the Council of the Kidney in CV disease of the AHA. His main area of

    interest is 'Hypertension and the Kidney'.

    Lars Christian Rump MD

    Lars Christian Rump is Professor and Chairman of Nephrology at the Heinrich-Heine-University in

    Dsseldorf, Germany. He is a Board Member of the German Society of Hypertension and a referee for the

    German Research Foundation (DFG) for Renal Impairment and Target organ damage for hypertension

    projects, awarding research and travel grants.

    Giancarlo Francesco Viberti MD

    Giancarlo Viberti is Professor of Diabetes and Metabolic Medicine, at King's College London School of

    Medicine and is head of the Unit for Metabolic Medicine, Cardiovascular Division Department of Diabetes,

    Endocrinology and Internal Medicine. During a distinguished career he has received a number of awards

    and is a regularly invited guest speaker and lecturer in several countries.
