The Purpose of this Role:- You will be part of the management team within Children’s Services: Providing robust, experienced social work leadership of the highest quality to ensure your team is highly skilled and motivated in order to achieve best outcomes for the Children and Young People of Monmouthshire. Your responsibilities are to:- Leadership

Lead on practice and the day to day operational management of the team, balancing the needs of the children and their families / carers with available resources. This will be achieved by providing day to day advice, management, support, decision-making and guidance to your team, ensuring effective service delivery for children and their families and that children are protected from harm and abuse.

Provide leadership, support and supervision to your team members to ensure they are provided with appropriate direction, support and guidance in order to provide an effective service.

Induct and train all new team members on the daily and operational responsibilities for the post ensuring all identified skill gaps are addressed through planned interventions.

Undertake supervision of Senior Practitioners, Social Workers and other staff providing opportunities for reflection and challenge in line with policy.

Provide advice and mentoring across all teams to ensure Social Work practice particularly for Looked After Children and Care Leavers is regarded as meeting, or exceeding, practice standards.

Work alongside colleagues to continue to develop new ways of working that directly impact practice. This will result in rising standards in working practice, with improved quality of service provision to children, young people and families.

Deputise for the Service Manager as required and to a high standard of performance.

Develop, encourage and maintain high professional standards with the team and department. These will be evident across your service.

Performance

Ensure that agreed performance targets are consistently delivered, monitored and reviewed as well as sustain optimal team performance.

Lead in the development of robust record keeping systems and ensure the dissemination of key information within the team. Ensure systems are effective and records are up to date. E.g. ensuring all ‘looked after children’ information and statistical data is accurate and up to date.

Ensure your Service Improvement Plan is in line with the overarching Children’s Service Strategy. Lead, develop, co-ordinate and support your Service Improvement Plan.

Regularly review and analyse information including performance and statistical data, practice procedures and evaluate practice across your whole team.

Take a lead role in the development of management information systems including PLANT recording, retrieval and analysis within your team. Ensuring information for your areas is accurate, up to date and robust, and the appropriate use of information is observed across your service area.

Operational

Manage applications to court where this is required to keep children safe

Work with provider agencies to ensure that children’s needs are met and outcomes are achieved.

Ensure that the team operates in accordance with all relevant legislation and guidance.

Ensure your team is fully compliant with the Social Services Well Being Act and implications for your Service.

Keep you and your whole team are kept informed of developments in legislation, practice, policies and procedures that have implications for social work practice and other colleagues.

Ensuring you and your team are working within the ‘all wales child protection procedures’.

Ensure timely information sharing with other agencies in line with the requirement of your service.

In relation to your responsibilities for supporting all ‘looked after children’ within Monmouthshire. You will be accountable for working with colleagues in relation to contracting, commissioning and reviewing all placements for ‘looked after children’.

Be responsible for managing complaints received from children and families, including acting as the investigating officer in relation to complaints against professionals. This will result in complaints being investigated appropriately and in accordance with Monmouthshire’s complaints procedures, taking such action as may be appropriate to ensure staff are providing a safe service.

With other team managers ensure that work flows through the system and that case transfers are well managed from a child’s perspective.

Lead in the development of community network, voluntary sector and other organisations in line with your service area.

Ensure the efficient allocation of resources, achieving better outcomes for children’s and families.

Make a significant contribution to budget management and manage a significant team budget.

Responsible for ensuring that all budgets are managed in line with council’s financial framework and agreed local protocols.

Mewn perthynas â'ch cyfrifoldebau dros gefnogi’r holl 'blant sy'n derbyn gofal' yn Sir Fynwy. Byddwch yn atebol am weithio gyda chydweithwyr o ran contractio, comisiynu ac adolygu pob lleoliad ar gyfer 'plant sy'n derbyn gofal'.

Byddwch yn gyfrifol am reoli cwynion a dderbynnir oddi wrth blant a theuluoedd, gan gynnwys gweithredu fel y swyddog ymchwilio mewn perthynas â chwynion yn erbyn gweithwyr proffesiynol. Bydd hyn yn arwain at ymchwilio i mewn i gwynion yn briodol ac yn unol â gweithdrefnau cwyno Sir Fynwy, gan gymryd camau o'r fath a all fod yn briodol er mwyn sicrhau bod staff yn darparu gwasanaeth diogel.

Gyda rheolwyr eraill y tîm byddwch yn sicrhau bod y gwaith yn llifo drwy'r system a bod trosglwyddo achosion yn cael ei reoli'n dda o safbwynt y plentyn.

Dyma beth y gallwn ei rhoi i chi: - Rydym wedi ein lleoli o fewn cymuned wledig hardd ac er ein bod yn fach, rydym yn awdurdod uchelgeisiol iawn. Bydd golwg agosach ar ein Gwasanaethau i Blant yn dangos rhwydwaith o dimau sy'n perfformio'n dda, sydd wedi ymrwymo i ymarfer sy'n greadigol, arloesol, heb ofn i gymryd risgiau ac yn rhoi anghenion plant a theuluoedd yn ganolog i waith ymyrraeth. Mae ein haelodau'r tîm yn mwynhau amgylchedd sefydlog sy'n caniatáu lle i feddwl ac yn hybu dull arloesol o ymarfer gwaith cymdeithasol. Mae hyn yn cyfuno gyda rhestr helaeth o fuddion ac ymrwymiad i ddatblygiad parhaus pob aelod o'r gwasanaeth sy’n gwneud Sir Fynwy yn lle gwych i weithio.
