Acknowledgements We would like to thank the Board of Directors, the committees, and all the volunteers who have participated in Rotary activities and helped out our community. Together, we can expand our efforts to reach out to all generations, promote peace and unity, foster our friendships with other communities, enhance our collaboration with the government (city, state, and national levels), and increase our members’ civic awareness.

Activities Summary: July 2009 - June 2010 Flagship Project In the 2009-2010 year one of our principal efforts was to respond to the immediate needs in the aftermath of the Haiti Earthquake. The Rotary Club of Thai Town worked in collaboration with IPTV along with organizations and individuals from the Thai community in Los Angeles – including the Thai Women’s Council, The Thai Music Lovers Group and Mr. Somchet Phyakarit – to raise awareness and funds to support relief efforts. In a televised fundraiser, this joint effort raised over $20,000.00 for the Rotary Foundation’s Shelter Box Program to provide direct assistance to those in need in Haiti. Charitable Functions Rotary Club of Thai Town continues to support charitable and educational activities organized by our members and other Thai associations in accordance with our bylaws. In the 2009-2010 year our club contributed to the following programs:

• The Rotary Club of Thai Town Fundraising Golf Tournament • The Maternity Ward Project in Thailand • The Clean Water Project in Thailand • “We Support Youth” • The Census Complete Count Projet • Peace Initiative/Better LA • Youth Poster & Essay Contest Awards • Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) Sponsorships • The Rotary Foundation Polio Plus Program • Thai community events in Thai Town and throughout the state of California.

Leadership and Training Rotary also engages in year-round leadership training activities for its members ranging from district events to PETs training, strengthening its core base of community leaders for its ongoing community and international support activities.

AWARD RECIPIENT: RYAN CHANCE

Engineer Ryan Chance is being recognized tonight by both the members of this community as well as his co-workers at Fire Station #82. We acknowledge his commitment and dedication to the well-being of the citizens he so proudly serves daily when called upon in their time of need, as we do his untiring commitment to serving as an integral component of a team of professionals, who live their lives, guarding and caring for others. Engineer Chance is a clear example of a fireman that can be counted on not only by this community, but by his teammates on the fire engine as well. We now take this opportunity to thank Engineer Chance for all he does and all that he is.
