PARK GREEN

SHALDON, AN EXTRAORDINARY SETTING

Situated in a spectacular setting on the Teign estuary, Shaldon is a picturesque seaside village of great charm. Its exquisite beaches, magnificent views and historic winding streets lined with brightly coloured Georgian houses, render it one of the most desirable coastal locations in South Devon.

The red hued promontory of the Ness Headland, with its secluded beach, Ness Cove, below, accessed via a tunnel through the cliffs, is the village’s most recognisable feature. The village is very well served with shops, pubs, cafés, and its visitor attractions include a zoo and botanical gardens.

LOCATION

Shaldon is very well located, being in close proximity to both Torquay and Newton Abbot, and the city of Exeter is just half an hour’s drive away.

Across the estuary, in Teignmouth, there are rail connections with Bristol and London Paddington, and more locally, to Exeter and Plymouth.

For travel further afield, Exeter Airport, which continues to expand, offers f l ights to a wide variety of national and international destinations.

Shaldon is the ideal place for all types of water sports, with the estuary and open sea providing a choice of waters. Although compact, the village is very well served with shops, pubs, cafés and restaurants, including the highly regarded ODE.

SHALDON, A SMALL

PICTURESQUE SEASIDE VILLAGE

The beaches may be smaller than some of the surrounding spots, but they are quieter and have views of Teignmouth and the majestic tors of Dartmoor beyond.

Directions to Rougemont

From the A380, take the A381 towards Teignmouth. Continue past Morrisons and turn right onto the A379, crossing the bridge to Shaldon. Head towards the village and then follow the road right towards Torquay. Ascend the hill for approximately half a mile and turn right after the bus stop into Woodleigh Park. Immediately turn right again and ascend Picket Head Hill, Rougemont is the first turning on the left.
