Roxie’s Ramblings

Is anyone else as surprised as I am to be reading the fall newsletter already? It’s hard to believe

that summer is almost over but we have an exciting fall planned! Our bus trip to Grand Rapids, MI to

the AQS Quilt Show will be in the books by the time you read this (or very close to it). Jess and I are

excited to be heading to Utah to a Kimberbell certified shop reunion in September, where I’m sure

we’ll be coming back with lots of new ideas. A little birdie told me that we’ll be doing a live video feed

from there and will be bringing home a great gift basket for one lucky winner. You’ll need to keep up

with Facebook to find out when and how to win! In good ol’ Kimberbell fashion it will be great!

We have an exciting line up of classes for you, plus some old favorites. We have not one but two

national educators that are coming to Red-Roxy so be sure not to miss those. The ever popular Shelly

Fitzgerald will be making a return visit with THREE learning opportunities for our BERNINA

enthusiasts. Lori Kennedy will be teaching free motion stitching, Lori style. I attended her class at

BERNINA University and it was sew fun to discover new patterns to try. The ever popular bag classes

are making a comeback starting in December with new patterns and possibly some old favorites.

Have you seen the new Tula Pink 570 & 770 BERNINA machines? They come with lots of Tula toys

plus a free embroidery module! Sweet! Many have already pre-ordered to make sure they get one!

We are so excited to have national educator Lori Kennedy join us for a trunk show & hands-on workshop! Lori is a quilter and doodler who loves to share her passion for free-motion quilting with daily tutorials and inspirations on her blog, The Inbox Jaunt and in her column in American Quilter Magazine. Lori owns six BERNINA’s and currently alternates between the B770 QE and her new love, the BERNINA Q 20 longarm. Lori is the author of 2 books on free motion stitching and will share her tips & tricks with free motion quilting, along with her favorite threads, batting and needles. All machine brand owners are welcome for this hands-on class.

Lori Kennedy Trunk Show Friday, October 11 6:30 pm $10

Lori is bringing her samples she has free-motion quilted to wow you in this evening trunk

show. You will be able to see, touch, take pictures and ask Lori questions. I can guarantee after

seeing her samples and meeting Lori in person, you will be anxious for her hands-on class the next

day. Lori will talk about batting, thread and everything else associated with free motion stitching.

Two Fabric Bargello with Mike Ellingsen

Create a stunning bargello quilt with only 2 fabrics. This will be

the easiest bargello you’ll ever make and with guest teacher Mike

Ellingson’s guidance, he’ll take the challenge out of this beautiful

quilt. The pattern has 3 different styles for you to choose from.

We have many different ombre fabrics to pick from for the main

fabric so there’s sure to be a color way that will work for you.

quilt and also gain confidence to move on to your own projects when class is over. We did change up the quilt a bit to give you some more variety and learn more block techniques so it’s sure

MACHINE EMBROIDERY CLUB September: Applique In-The-Hoop ~ Applique in the hoop is not only faster, it allows for stunning ef-fects not possible using conventional methods! This project is the perfect marriage of modern & tradition-al. We will integrate appliqued squares into a nine patch layout to create a 16” pillow cover perfect for any home décor. Tuesday, September 3, 5:30 or Wednesday, September 4, 10:00 October: Monogramming ~ Using BERNINA Toolbox software makes monograms shine with very few clicks. The unsurpassed embroidery stitch quality of a BERNINA makes for an perfectly monogrammed towel. The secret ingredients are OESD StitcH2O and Heavy Cutaway stabilizers which ensures perfect results, even on the heaviest of towels. Tuesday, October 1, 5:30 or Wednesday, October 9, 10:00 November: Design Editing ~ Easily set up & edit designs right on the machine. By using the onboard editing tools you are able to combine designs & make changes, group & ungroup, and delete part of the design and then arrange in the desired stitch order. KLUB

We are celebrating our 1 year anniversary of Kimberbell Klub & continue to grow each month! We are loving offering YOU these FREE, exclusive designs each and every month! Hop on board the Kimberbell band-wagon (or Kimberbell Anonymous as some think we need to start calling it!) to receive the free design & instructions to create these wonderful quick & easy in-the-hoop projects. Did you miss the part that this is a FREE Klub for all Kimberbell enthusiasts or wanna be enthusiasts?!?!

Klub is a lecture/demo format where we will share the tips and tricks we discovered while stitching out each months samples. Plus there will be door prizes, sew and tell and more fun things. We will have kits available to purchase so you can make up your very own Kimberbell exclusive projects just like ours! We do ask that you sign up to give us an idea just how many people are as giddy over Kimberbell as we are!

When you attend the Klub meeting, we will put that month’s exclusive design and instructions on your USB stick that you bring to class so you can stitch out lots of fun projects when you get home. We will have full color printed instructions available for a nominal $5.00 printing fee.

Stitch Party with Roxie

3 Sessions | Mondays, September 30, October 7 & 14 1:00-4:00 or 5:30-8:30 Class Fee: $30

Whether you are new to BERNINA, been sewing on one for many years, a top of the line or not, every machine comes with many decorative stitches and is likely the most underutilized part of your machine. This class will have you stitching them out like a pro while you learn how to make those stitches sing. We will be making a stitch book that you will reference time and time again, while learning the settings on your machine. You’ll also learn what thread, needle and stabilizer to use while mastering those

wonderful stitches. While some machines have more stitchs than others, anyone will benefit from having a stitch guide to refer to.

Stitch Party PLUS with Roxie

3 Sessions | Mondays, November 4, 11 & 25 1:00-4:00 or 5:30-8:30 Class Fee: $30

This class is for all 790 & 880 BERNINA machine owners. Expanding on the Stitch Party Class, we will explore how to take those decorative stitches one step farther in Stitch Designer. Here is where you can really have fun with deco-rative stitches and make them your own. You’ll learn edit-ing techniques and how to make those stitches look totally different. We’ll make a Tech Tote using your favorite new stitches you just created to carry your tablet, phone, etc.

Edge to Edge Quilting

If you have a machine that embroiders or are new to embroidery this class is a must for you! You’ll be amazed at the edge to edge quilting that you can do in the hoop.
