After winning the Shelfield Partnership competition, our team of talented and

dedicated Year 2s travelled to the University of Wolverhampton to represent

Walsall in the Black Country School Games on Friday 26th June. After a lavish

opening ceremony, with over 1,000 children competing in all manner of

competitions, the children competed against 8 other schools in various multi-

skilled activities. Ryders Hayes narrowly missed out on a podium finish but their efforts in

reaching the finals were exemplary, and their teamwork displayed on the day was fantastic.

The whole school are very proud of you and a big thank you to parents for supporting your child

in this event!

A Fond Farewell…

We say goodbye to Mrs Wright in only a

couple of weeks’ time now. Mrs Wright has

been at Ryders Hayes School for 21 years.

She began with us, as a newly qualified teach-

er, in 1994. Spending many years in Key Stage

1, Mrs Wright was tempted to move up to

Year 5 more recently, and hasn’t looked back

since! She has led our History Curriculum for

many years, and has also been a moderator

for the Local Authority for the past few years, ensuring that schools

across Walsall are making fair judgements about their pupils’ pro-

gress.

As many of you know, Mrs Wright is moving on to take up a promotion

as Maths Leader and Year 6 teacher at Abbey Primary School. We

wish her every success in her new role.

Should you wish to contribute to a leaving gift from parents of past

and present pupils for Mrs Wright, as such a long-serving member of

staff, then please send your donation next week to the School Office.

Thank you
