Join me for a hopscotching, storytelling trip through the career of a global broadcast journalist, with glimpses behind-the-scenes of network television during the final decades of the Cold War. We’ll visit every continent, meet some of the most important world leaders of the time, and learn about how journalists and their “sources” interact to bring you the news. Presented by emeritus UD professor and former CNN journalist Ralph Begleiter.

of the world’s first all-news cable television channel through momentous changes in both global politics and the role of the news media during the 1980s and
1990s, through the eyes and experiences of CNN’s “world affairs correspondent.” There will be some video, but this class will primarily
be a “storytelling” experience, with opportunities for student Q&A as the story progresses.
