Food Collection | Saturday-Sunday, September 4-5
Please consider bringing a bag of non-
perishable food to church next weekend
for Keystone Community Services, our local
food shelf partner. Keystone is also in
need of cash donations. Another critical
need is volunteers, which have also been
depleted due to COVID-19. Sign up

2nd Collection Haiti Emergency Collection | Saturday-Sunday, August 28-29 Archbishop Hebda has asked all archdiocesan parishes to join with U.S. Catholics to take up an emergency collection for those suffering from the devastating earthquake in Haiti. On August 14, a massive 7.2 magnitude quake hit Haiti, leveling homes and businesses and leaving many without shelter or food. Hospitals and clinics are overwhelmed. Haiti, still struggling from the damaging earthquake of 2010, was also hit by Tropical Storm Grace, adding to the devastation. Your help is critical for our Haiti brothers and sisters desperate to survive. Your gift will be forwarded to the U.S. Bishops’ Emergency Disaster Fund, created to support relief efforts through Catholic Relief Services in situations like the one in Haiti. Please offer what you can during our 2nd collection this weekend, or you can also donate at www.centerformission.org/contribute-donation-form. Thank you!
Synod Save the Dates Let’s talk! If you have ever started a sentence with, “The Church needs to…” then this Synod is for you! Plan to discuss and provide input this fall about the best ways for the local Catholic Church to form... Parishes that are in the service of evangelization; Missionary disciples who know Jesus’s love and how to
respond to his call; and Youth and young adults in and for a Church that is
always young.
Join a small group to discuss and give feedback on priorities within each Synod focus area. Mark your calendars for September 28; October 5, 12, 19, and 26; and November 9 from 7-9pm in Steiner Hall, with more details forthcoming. In the meantime, visit www.archspm.org/synod for more information. Are you currently with a small group at the parish? You also have the option to participate in the Synod together as a group. Contact the parish office at (651) 696-5401 or [email protected] for more information.
School Welcome Back, Students! We are filled with great joy and hope as we begin this new academic year. We are very eager to welcome our students back to school on Monday. As we embark on this journey, we remain committed to helping each child grow into the person God has called them to be through faith, academics, and character development. Please join us in praying for a blessed and successful year!
Faith Formation Volunteer Catechists and Assistants Needed Share your love of the Catholic Faith! Parishioners who love to share their faith in Christ and his Church are needed to teach our faith formation students. We are also looking for teen volunteers to serve as assistants to the catechists. Contact Mahalia Marcelin, Faith Formation Director, to find out about this great opportunity at (651) 696-5441 or [email protected]. Thinking About Becoming Catholic? Are you or someone you know... Interested in becoming Catholic? ...A child over the age of seven who has not been baptized? ...Someone who was baptized Catholic as a child, but has not celebrated the Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist? We offer an opportunity to come together in a small group to learn more about our faith. Sessions focus on the teachings and experience of the Church and prepare individuals to celebrate the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist during the Easter season. There are separate sessions for children or youth. You are welcome to participate in the process with your questions, your insights, and your faith story in a warm, accepting setting. For more information, please contact Mahalia Marcelin, Faith Formation Director, at (651) 696-5441 or [email protected].

Mass from Home Video Mass from Nativity of Our Lord Livestreamed and archived Masses continue to be available at https://nativitystpaul.org/online-liturgies, as well as on our parish website homepage and Facebook page (www.facebook.com/NativityStPaul/live_videos/). See page 2 or the back page calendar for days and times. Broadcast Liturgies EWTN’s television channel (Comcast cable ch. 291) has daily Mass at 7am, 11am, 6pm, and 11pm, and is rebroadcast on channels 14.2, 14.4, and 14.5. Mass is also on Relevant Radio, 1330 AM, on Sundays at 9am, with Daily Mass at 12pm. Sunday Mass is on local TV at 11am on KSTC-TV/45.
Liturgy Expanded Sunday Mass Schedule | Began August 1 In order to accommodate increasing congregational sizes, we have now added a weekly Sunday morning Mass at 7:30am, and moved our 8:15am Sunday Mass to 9am, beginning August 1. All Masses are celebrated in the main upper church sanctuary. Mass Obligation Reinstated As vaccinations are now widespread and readily available, the bishops of Minnesota have now reinstated the obligation to attend Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation. Although the general dispensation will no longer be available, the Church has always recognized that certain circumstances can excuse a person from the requirement to observe the obligation, including when he or she is ill, or when serving as caretaker for someone who cannot attend Mass. Visit www.archspm.org/createdforcommunion for more information. Masses When Travelling MN Travelling over the Lord’s Day? Visit www.backtomassmn.org to find Mass at another parish throughout Minnesota.
Community Emergency Housing Needed for SPO Women A few weeks ago, St. Paul’s Outreach found out that one of our legacy houses — housing 11 women — at our original SPO chapter at the University of St Thomas had foundation and mold issues that must be dealt with. Unfortunately, this will not allow us to be ready to house the women there until the first week of November. We need to house 11 women in 1-2 locations close to the University of St. Thomas until the construction is completed on November 1. If you or someone you know could provide us with two months of household living space, please contact Peter Demarais at (651) 447-3115. Although a donation of space would be wonderful, we can afford modest rent for the space. Thank you in advance for your consideration!
Revised Sunday Mass Schedule (begins 8/1): 5pm (Saturday vigil) 7:30am 9am 11am 5pm
Family Life Small Groups for Engaged and Recently Married Couples Are you an engaged or recently married couple that would like to build friendships and community with other parish couples at the same stage of life? If so, consider joining a Christian Family Movement (CFM) small group. Groups typically consist of 4-6 couples that meet once a month for conversation guided by the program booklet they have chosen for the year. Provided by the national CFM office, materials require minimal-to-no preparation and allow flexibility for each group’s interests and needs. Founded in the 1940s and now active worldwide, CFM strengthens families by helping couples integrate their faith into their daily lives, fostering roles as Catholic spouses and parents, and enabling meaningful connections and support systems among couples and families. To indicate interest or receive more information, please contact Theresa Lauber at [email protected] or (612) 214-1110.
