Dear Friends,

Thank you, again, to the more than 270 parish families who have made their pledge to our capital campaign. We have surpassed our first goal and are more than 75% toward our second (“Challenge”) goal. We need only $800,000 more to reach that goal! I encourage all families to join in this important campaign for our parish. We have more than 5300 registered families, yet less than 300 have made a pledge. Please pray about how you can participate and make your pledge as soon as possible. On a related note, some have asked if their campaign pledge takes the place of their regular Sunday giving, or tithe. The short answer is “no.” To embark on a capital campaign is an extra-ordinary effort, meant to address extra-ordinary parish needs. Our weekend offertory can only support basic, budgeted parish needs (and even that has to be supplemented by the Parish Bazaar each year). This is why we ask you to discern what your family can afford to pledge and why we say it is a “sacrificial” gift. In light of this, any pledge amount—no matter how big or small—is greatly appreci-ated, and we can only reach our next goal through the combined sacrifice of many families. Remember, too, that providing for the material needs of the church is one of our primary responsibilities as members of the Christian faithful (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 2043). We give not just to keep ourselves comfortable for an hour or so on Sunday while “the professionals” bring others to Jesus, but out of our own need to imitate and participate in the outpouring of Christ on the Cross—so that other may meet Jesus through us. Supporting the parish financially is just one aspect of this, of course, but it is an integral one. At all the Mass times next weekend, some of your fellow parishioners will personally ask for your support and testify to the ways in which this campaign has contributed to their own life of faith. Please be attentive to their courageous witness. Thank you, once again, for your continued support for Saint Theresa Catholic Church and this capital campaign. Praying that the Lord in his providence will strengthen you as you seek to heed his commandments, I am Sincerely yours in Christ,

Rev. Eurel Manzano

Felicidades a Eduardo De Jesús

Eurel Manzano

October is the month that volunteers at the food pantry prepare for Thanksgiving by sending letters to our local schools and boy scouts encouraging them to hold food drives in support of our SVdP ministry. Food drives of non-perishable food are vital to our food pantry as they enable us to focus our financial resources, helping needy families struggling to pay their bills after hurricane Harvey. Yes, two months after the hurricane we are still helping families recover from this disaster. If your child’s school is holding a Thanksgiving food drive please make it an opportunity to teach them the importance of thinking of others before self by encouraging them to get involved. We welcome donations of non perishable foods like break-fast cereals, canned fruits, vegetables and meats, flour and sugar, rice and beans. Donations of diapers sizes 1 through 6 and baby wipes are also requested. Our business hours are Mondays and Fridays between 10:00am. and 1:00pm. PRAYER OF SPOUSES FOR EACH OTHER

Lord Jesus, grant that my spouse and I may have a true and understanding love for each other. Grant that we

may both be filled with faith and trust. Give us the grace to live with each other in peace and harmony. May we always bear with one another’s weaknesses and grow from each oth-er’s strengths. Help us to forgive one another’s failings and grant us patience, kindness, cheer-fullness and the spirit of

placing the well-being of one another ahead of self. May the love that brought us together grow and mature with each

passing year. Bring us both ever closer to You through our love for each other. Let our love grow to perfection, for

You live and reign with the Father in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

The international Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fatima, which was entrusted to the World Apostolate of Fatima in 1947 to travel around the world, is on an historic two-year journey across the USA—and will ar-rive at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish on Tuesday, November 14th! All are invited to process into our sanctuary that morning at 8:00 a.m. with the Pilgrim Statue, where a Mass in honor of Our Lady of Fatima will follow. The Statue may be venerated throughout the day, interspersed with devotion, a talk on the apparitions at Fatima, and closing Benediction at 6:30 p.m. The Fatima Centennial U.S. Tour for Peace began in March 2016 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the apparitions of the Angel of Peace and the Blessed Mother at Fatima, Portugal. At the Tour’s conclusion in December 2017 the statue will have visit-ed 100 dioceses and all 50 states. The goal of the Tour is to allow Our Lady of Fatima to claim her dominion over America through her Immaculate Heart, and to bring the urgent message of Fatima—the Peace Plan from Heaven—to a world in need. It also encourages devotion through personal consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, which was the mission given to the Fatima visionary Lucia dos Santos by Our Lady and Our Lord.
