Advantage of joining NCC-Pursottam Sah

-ME/20/01

“Seriously !! telling you , before joining the NCC , i don't know much about this three beautifulwords ‘NCC’ but now i could even write a whole book on this topic “

INTRODUCTIONNational Cadet Corps is the youth wing of the Indian Armed Forces with its headquarters in

New Delhi, India. It is open to school and college students on voluntary basis a Tri-ServicesOrganization, comprising the Army, Navy and Air Wing, engaged in grooming the youth of thecountry into disciplined and patriotic citizens. The soldier youth foundation in India is a voluntaryorganization which recruits cadets from high schools, higher secondary, colleges and universitiesall over India. The Cadets are given basic military training in small arms and drill. The ocers andcadets have no liability for active military service once they complete their course.

“ still confused ? , lets see the benefits of NCC then it will be more clearer “

[ NCC motivates youths to join armed forces as a career , and make a discipline life ]

NCC is a highly reputed body which is also a second line of defence. In India, many youngsters are trainedin line with defence in case the need arises. If young students want to make it their career option, thenbeing a NCC cadet holds a lot of weight. As they are directly associated with the ministry of defence.

Other than just military training the cadets also learn several other valuable things suchas selflessness, honesty, discipline, hard work and ways to build confidence and gain leadershipqualities.

Since NCC camps are held all over India therefore there is training in a various parts of thecountry, hence students get an opportunity of visit new places and learn the art ofindependence. They are required to use their social skills and their senses to get to knownew places and adapt to the varying environment. Other than just social skills they alsoget to learn about the history and art of the new place. NCC cadets learn to take pride inthem and the training also strengthens the spirit of being an Indian. This helps them geartowards joining the forces and providing their 100% when the country is in need of them.

Other than military activities, the cadets are taught other skills such as parachuting, paragliding and basic aviation courses because of which they have an edge over otherswhen appearing for the armed forces. Other than that, they also have a special quotawhich is very useful in case of final selection to join the armed forces.

Under the regime of exchange programme, there are a few selected students who get anopportunity to visit other countries and learn various things which are practised in othernations and exchange experiences with cadets who happen to come to India from foreignlands. There are a total of 32 seats which are set aside for cadets who hold NCC certificateprovided they have scored 50% in graduation with at least a B grade in C levelexamination. If all this suces, then they are eligible for SSC without even qualifying for aCDS written exam. All they have to do is clear the SSB interview.Other than SSB they alsoget a preference over other in the CRF and BSF.Other than just armed forces there areseveral central and state Government organisations who give special preference to NCCcadets.

In addition to all aforementioned benefits, NCC experience is one dierent from all others!

“ I loved the camp life and I will miss it and the people. This camp taught me discipline, to acceptpeople the way they are, infused courage and strength, motivated me to do something to motherlandand respect her and ultimately it made me a better person. I saw a Mini India or “Chota Bharat” inshort span.”

The life as a cadet is one of the best experiences one can ever have as it teaches them life as it isand shows how it is to be an ocer in the Indian Armed Forces. As a matter of fact, NCC cadets livelife like an ocer without being a part of the premier Indian military training institutes like NDA andIMA.
