CIOPPINO FEED PROFIT—OVER $59,600!! Wow what a fantastic night at the Lopes Orchards De Paul Center! The food was great and so was the

community participation. Thank you to all the volunteers, parishioners, and children that worked so hard that night and to everyone who participated at the Parish's 4th Crab Cioppino Feed. Also to the ministries that participated, Knights of Columbus, Religious Education students, Teen Life members & Young Ladies Institute (YLI) A special thank you to Co-Chairs, Steve & Carol Olson, John Azevedo & Dave Santos, who without their help, the event wouldn't have been such a great success. CONNORS ENDOWMENT TRUST FUND is happy to announce that a special presentation of a $16,500 gift was made to Sacred Heart School on January 27, 2019, fol-lowing the 11a.m. Mass. Your generosity and support to the Endowment Fund has allowed the organization to give over $322,000 to the parish school since 2000. Thank you for your continued support!!

ST. VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY ~ “MARCH AGAINST HUNGER” The Society of St. Vincent de Paul wishes to extend their immeasurable gratitude and heartfelt thanks to all parishioners, ministries, organizations, co-sponsors, volunteers, and

anyone who participated in or helped in any way to make our 20019 “March Against Hunger” Walk-a-Thon, yet another great success ( and as always the burritos were super duper delicious)! We are especially blessed to have so may who care so deeply in our very special community and who support our mission “To Serve the Poor and Needy” unconditionally! We estimate there were 200 walkers, and donations raised were slightly over $2,700 from the main walk. Total donations raised including T-Shirt Co-Sponsor (34) sales, walk, general donations, etc. are $7,276. We are please to announce that we received a matching grant this year of $2,500 from the Mary Stuart Rogers Foundation, giving us a Grand Total of $9,776. SOCIEDAD DE SAN VICENTE DE PAUL ~ “MARCHA CONTRA EL HAMBRE” La Sociedad de San Vicente de Paúl desea extender su agradecimiento inconmensurable y

NATIONAL CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH The Diocese of Stockton has codes of conduct and standards of conducts adults must follow to create safe environment and protect children. Reading and following the code in all situations creates a culture of protection and keeps our children safer.

Did you know? The Charter calls for annual audits of dioceses and eparchies to ascertain compliance with USCCB guidelines. Annual audits have been conducted since 2003. Results of the audits are pub-lished online in May for the public.

Palm Sunday Sunday, April 14, 2019

Messianic Entry Today’s Readings: Luke 19: 28–40; Isaiah 50:4–7; Psalm 22:8–9, 17–18, 19–20, 23–24; Philippians 2:6–11; Luke 22:14—23:56. Today, the faithful process with palms and sing “Hosanna,” remembering the Lord’s entrance to Jerusalem, an entry that would lead to his death. Today the readings proclaim Jesus as the king (Gospel at the procession), tell of how Jesus emp ed himself to come in human form (Second Reading), and recount the Passion (Gospel). As Jesus rode on a donkey into Jerusalem, the Romans were unaware of the meaning of the procession. The Jews, however, watched the fulfillment of the prophet Zechariah (9:9): “Behold: your king is coming to you, / a just savior is he, / Humble, and riding on a donkey, / on a colt, the foal of a donkey.” Concerned, the Pharisees told Jesus to silence his followers. Know-

ing that all crea on awaited his death and rising, Jesus replied that the stones

would cry out. The Romans dismiss Jesus, the Pharisees tried to suppress him,

and the people celebrate him. How will you respond to the Lord during this

holiest of weeks? Some will discount him by giving these days no importance,

while others will suppress the meaning of the days. S ll, some will enter into

Holy Week and the Sacred Paschal Triduum through par cipa on in the liturgy.

They will celebrate the ins tu on of the Eucharist on Holy Thursday, venerate

the cross on Good Friday, and keep vigil on Holy Saturday as they listen to the

Scriptures tell of salva on history.

Sacred Days Lord Jesus,

you entered Jerusalem amid resounding echoes of praise.

We join the mul tudes of your disciples,

who through the ages, proclaim you as King.

Strengthen us as we accompany you

during these sacred days of singing and praying, in awe of your love.

May we have the courage to follow you and be transformed by your sacrifice. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

La entrada mesiánica Lecturas del día: Lucas 19: 28 – 40; Isaías 50:4 – 7; Salmo 22:8 – 9, 17 – 18, 19 – 20, 23 – 24; Filipenses 2:6 – 11; Lucas 22:14— 23:56. Hoy, los fieles entran en procesión con palmas y “hosannas”, para recordar la entrada del Señor en Jerusalén que lo conduciría a su muerte. Hoy las lecturas anuncian a Jesús como el rey (evangelio de la procesión), y cuentan cómo el Hijo de Dios se vació a sí mismo para hacerse una persona humana (segunda lectura), y cuentan la Pasión (evangelio).

Al entrar en un asno en Jerusalén, los romanos no estaban al tanto del

sen do de la procesión. Los judíos, sin embargo, vieron el cumplimiento de la

profecía de Zacarías (9:9): “Mira a tu rey que está llegando: / justo, victorioso,

humilde, cabalgando un burro, / una cría de burra”. Con preocupación, los

fariseos le piden a Jesús que silencie a sus discípulos. Sabiendo que toda la

creación esperaba su muerte y resurrección, Jesús replica que, de callarlos, las

piedras gritarían.

Los romanos desdeñan a Jesús, los fariseos quieren suprimirlo, en

tanto que la gente lo celebra. ¿Cómo responderá usted al Señor la más santa de

las semanas? Algunas personas lo anulan porque no le dan importancia a estos

días, y otras eliminan el significado de estos días. Aun así, algunos se

Señor Jesús, entraste a Jerusalén entre clamorosas alabanzas. Nos unimos a la

mul tud de tus discípulos, de ayer y de hoy,

para proclamarte Rey. Fortalécenos para caminar con go estos días sagrados con cantos

y oraciones, envueltos en tu amor.
