CALLED BY GOD
Today’s scriptures invite us to listen to two calls.
The first is the call issued by the LORD to the prophet
Amos, the “shepherd and a dresser of syca-
mores” (Amos 7:14). The second is the call the Lord
Jesus issued to the Twelve, whom he sent out “two by
two” (Mark 6:7). These faithful people responded to the
call, prophesying and preaching to the people to whom
they had been sent. Each of us received a call when we
were baptized. The second reading invites us to ponder
that call as we are reminded that we are chosen in
Christ and that, in love, God “destined us for adop-
tion” (Ephesians 1:5). As adopted daughters and sons of
God we are called to bring the presence of Christ into
our marriages, families, schools, and places of work. Let
us be inspired today to say yes to the call we hear once
again through God’s living word.

HUMAN CONCERNS COMMISSION
Dear Lord,
Hold our troops in your loving
hands. Protect them as they
protect us. Bless them and their
families for the selfless acts they
perform for us in our time of need.

Let us remember and pray for
those who are always in our hearts.
If you have loved ones who are
currently serving in the Armed
Forces, please call the rectory
at 847-437-6208 and we will add
their names to our bulletin list.
When your loved one has
returned home, please let us
know so we can remove their
name from the list. Thank you.
End Domestic Violence NOW!
Domestic Violence Hotline
1-800-799-SAFE
Domestic Violence incidents rise during
difficult financial times. If you see a
family in trouble, please call the hotline.
MY BROTHER’S KEEPER MINISTRY
Seniors, do you need a ride to the doctor or grocery store? Please give us at
least 3 days notice. This is a free service to all our senior pa-
rishioners. We are not able to drive for surgery or if anesthesia
is involved. Call Linda at 847-439-5372.
St.Vincent de Paul is an emergency source for food and short-term financial
help for parishioners and those living within the parish boundaries. Please
call 847-437-6208. Requests will be handled with care and confidentiality.
In the Gospel today we see how Jesus sent his Apostles out two
by two. From the beginning of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul,
members visit in pairs “two by two”, those who are poor and
needy in their homes. It is there, in the family setting, that Vin-
centians listen, offer humble advice, and render assistance.
Have you considered answering the call to help
serve the poor by joining the Society of St. Vincent
de Paul?
Prayer for Immigrant Children
Loving Father,
in your infinite compassion, we seek your divine protection for refugee children
who are often alone and afraid. Provide solace to those who have been witnesses
to violence and destruction, who have lost parents, family, friends, home, and all
they cherish due to war or persecution.
Comfort them in their sorrow, and bring help in their time of need. Show mercy
to unaccompanied migrant children, too, Lord. Reunite them with their families
and loved ones. Guide those children who are strangers in a foreign land to a
place of peace and safety. Show us how we might reach out to these precious and
vulnerable children.
Open our hearts to migrant and refugee children in need, so that we might see in
them your own migrant Son. Give us courage to stand up in their defense against
those who would do them harm. For this we pray through our Lord Jesus Christ,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever
and ever.

Interested in Becoming a Catholic Christian?
Do you know anyone who has not completed their Sacraments of Initiation (Confirmation and Holy
Communion / Eucharist) and would like to learn more about coming into full communion with the
Catholic Church? Or do you know anyone who is interested in being baptized as a teen or adult?
Maybe this is you! If you know anyone who wishes to have more information about becoming a
Catholic Christian believer, please ask them to contact
Lisa Mersereau at [email protected]
...the teens and Kathy who are heading to ND Vision at Uni-
versity of Notre Dame. Pray for their safe travel and that this
leadership conference ignites their hearts and strengthens
their faith. May they continue to energize our parish after
their safe return. Thank you!
A GREAT BIG THANK YOU
From the rummage sale chairpersons
Our rummage sale had another good year!
$4,176.30
was made which was up a little from last year’s amount.
I would like to thank everyone for their endless help.
Thank you also for all the donations that came in. They
were deeply appreciated. Our $3 admission Friday pre-
sale was a great success again. We had a steady flow of
people Saturday and for the bag sale. With some ups
and downs happening, we managed to pull through.
THANK YOU EVERYBODY.
EDITOR’S NOTE: Thanks, also, to Pat Kretch and Bonnie for all of
their work and leadership on this annual parish event.
