From Our Pastor:From Our Pastor:This Sunday, the Church celebrates the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ the King�

Advent begins next Sunday, December 1, and we once again prepare to celebrate the birthday of Jesus Christ, the source of all love and mercy�

What happens when we let Jesus be King of our lives? When we let Jesus reign in our heart, mind and soul, we are changed forever (see this Sunday’s Mass readings, 2 Samuel 5:1-3; Psalm 122; Colossians 1:12-20; Luke 23:35-43)� To let Jesus Christ reign in our life is a decision that we make, by God’s grace, not just once in our life, but each moment of every day – and so we persevere in turning to Him (grace is a share in God’s divine life, His divine power)� We embrace the grace of God in prayer, in His Church, Word, Sacraments, Commandments and Teachings, in His Communion of Saints, in living the virtues of faith, hope and love, and in spiritual and corporal works of mercy that God calls us to do, in our love for God and love for our neighbor (see Matthew 25:31-46; Catechism of the Catholic Church, #2447)�

Jesus is the King of peace, joy and love� He is the King of all, the Only Savior of the world – therefore, when we give ourselves to Him, we experience a joy and a peace that the world cannot give nor take away from us� “Why, then, do so many people not know Him?” Saint Josemaría Escrivá once asked, “Why do we still hear that cruel protest: ‘We do not want Him to reign over us?’” – there are many people in the world who reject Jesus Christ in this way, for they do not know Jesus Christ, the beauty, truth and goodness of His Church, His Word (the Bible and Catechism) and Sacraments, especially the Eucharist, and His life-affirming, life-giving Teachings� “This sad state of affairs,” Saint Josemaría said, “makes me want to atone to our Lord� When I hear the endless clamor – expressed more in ignoble actions than in words – I feel the need to cry out, ‘He must reign!’”

To have Jesus Christ reign as King in our lives, we must be humble and consistent� We start by giving Jesus our heart – praying every day, asking for His grace, being faithful to Him, and turning away from sin, selfishness and pride� To witness to the Kingdom of Christ means that we conform our heart to His, and that we invite others to know and love Him�

As brothers and sisters in Christ, let us pray to renew our commitment to letting Jesus Christ reign in our life, to loving God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit with all our being, and to loving our neighbor as ourselves� Whatever our vocation (married, single, priest, religious), Jesus Christ calls each of us to holiness, to live our life in Him, to allow Him to reign in our life, in all our thoughts, words and deeds� May we receive the love of God into our hearts and be open to His grace so that we can respond to His call to proclaim, as instruments of His love and mercy, that Jesus Christ is King and He must reign!

office during the week to get a jump start on your Christmas shopping with SCRIP� Saint Clement School students are competing in our annual SCRIP War Competition� The class that recruits their family and friends to purchase the most SCRIP from now until December 22nd will be declared the winner� The winning class will then get the opportunity to present a $100 donation to Family Promise, as we continue to look for ways in which we can live our faith by serving others� In addition, if we reach our goal, all students will be rewarded with a special pajama party! IMPORTANT FOOD PANTRY NEWS!Calling all Food Pantry Volunteers! Karen Kilcoyne is our new

caller to schedule volunteers to assist at the food pantry when it’s St� Clement Parish’s turn to do so� With many people switching over from landline phones to cell phones, she is having a hard time contacting volunteers� It would be very helpful to Karen if EVERYONE contacted Karen (723-6660) to give her your current phone number� Also, we always welcome new volunteers, so contact Karen to become part of a terrific group of people making a difference in our community by sharing a little bit of their time� Give Karen a call today whether you are a first-time volunteer or have done this for many years� Thanks!

Also…� In addition to the normal hours on Monday and Thursday (7-8 pm) that the Food Pantry is open, a daytime opportunity has been added� The Pantry will now be open on the 3rd Thursday of every month from 10-11 am� Churches from the LAC will take turns staffing the pantry� If you are able to help during these hours, contact Bill Manthe at the parish office�

GIVING TREESOnce again our parish is participating in the Grant County Holiday

REJOICE! ADVENT MEDITATIONS WITH JOSEPH!Advent is a special time for the Church, a time when Christians

prepare to celebrate anew the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ� Often we lose sight of this amid the hustle and bustle of the season, and we find ourselves at Christmas no more transformed than when Advent began� REJOICE! Advent Mediations with Joseph is an opportunity for us to enter into Advent intentionally, seeking the graces God is waiting to give us in this holy season� At the heart of REJOICE! is a daily prayer journal helping us to see that first Advent through the heart and mind of St� Joseph as he and the Blessed Mother prepare to welcome the Christ Child into their lives� In addition to the journal, there are reflective videos that are a guide for each week of the Advent Season�

There will be two group opportunities for REJOICE! We will meet on Wednesdays after the 8:15 a�m� Mass, beginning November 27 and ending on December 18, and Tuesdays at 6:30 p�m�, beginning November 26 through December 17� Both gatherings will be in the parish office meeting room� Sessions will last about one hour�

You can participate in REJOICE! individually by going to rejoiceprogram�com to view the videos� However, you will need to order the Rejoice Journal separately�

A THANKSGIVING PRAYERGracious and generous God, Father of all mercies, on this

Thanksgiving Day we give You humble thanks for Your goodness and kindness� We bless You for the beauty of creation, the gift of life and all the blessings You shower upon us; but above all for Your immeasurable love given to us by Your Son, Jesus Christ, who is the true food from Heaven�

We ask Your blessing upon this food, upon all those present, and upon all who have worked to provide this meal� We pray too for those away from home and family this day, and for those who live in want and loneliness – keep them under Your watchful care and give us hearts attentive to their plight�

And, we pray, give us such an awareness of Your blessings, that with truly thankful hearts we may show forth Your praise, not only with our lips, but in our lives, by serving You, Lord, and caring for others; by walking before You in holiness and righteousness all our days� We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom with You and the Holy Spirit, be honor and glory through all ages� Amen�
