From Our Pastor:From Our Pastor:This Sunday, the Church celebrates the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ the

King Advent begins next Sunday, November 29, and we once again prepare to celebrate the birthday of Jesus Christ, the source of all love and mercy, the Only Savior of the world

What happens when we let Jesus be King of our lives? When we let Jesus reign in our heart, mind and soul, we are changed forever (see this Sunday’s Mass readings, Ezekiel 34:11-12, 15-17; Psalm 23; 1 Corinthians 15:20-26, 28; Matthew 25:31-46) To let Jesus Christ reign in our life is a decision that we make, by God’s grace, not just once in our life, but each moment of every day – and so we persevere in turning to Him (grace is a share in God’s divine life, His divine power) We embrace the grace of God in prayer, in His Church, Word, Sacraments, Commandments and Teachings, in His Communion of Saints, in living the virtues of faith, hope and love, and in spiritual and corporal works of mercy that God calls us to do, in our love for God and love for our neighbor (see Matthew 25:31-46; Catechism of the Catholic Church, #2447)

Jesus is the King of peace, joy and love He is the King of all, the Only Savior of the world – therefore, when we give ourselves to Him, we experience a joy and a peace that the world cannot give nor take away from us “Why, then, do so many people not know Him?” Saint Josemaría Escrivá once asked, “Why do we still hear that cruel protest: ‘We do not want Him to reign over us?’” – there are many people in the world who reject Jesus Christ in this way, for they do not know Jesus Christ, the beauty, truth and goodness of His Church, His Word (the Bible and Catechism) and Sacraments, especially the Eucharist, and His life-affirming, life-giving Teachings “This sad state of affairs,” Saint Josemaría said, “makes me want to atone to our Lord When I hear the endless clamor – expressed more in ignoble actions than in words – I feel the need to cry out, ‘He must reign!’”

For Jesus Christ to reign as King in our lives, we must be humble and consistent We start by giving Jesus our heart – praying every day, asking for His grace, being faithful to Him, and turning away from sin, selfishness and pride To witness to the Kingdom of Christ means that we conform our heart to His, and that we invite others to know and love Him Letting Christ reign in our life will help us through the latest pandemic, as we pray for: His healing and strength for all who are suffering; all who have died; government leaders to stop using the pandemic for political and evil reasons; His guidance for our country after an apparently corrupt election process that might lead to severe restrictions on our God-given rights to life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness, and our Constitutional rights that include freedom of religion and speech As I once heard said, we might not know what the future holds, but we know who holds the future: our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ

As brothers and sisters in Christ, let us pray to renew our commitment to letting Jesus Christ reign in our life, to loving God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit with all our being, and to loving our neighbor as ourselves Whatever our vocation (married, single, priest, religious), Jesus Christ calls each of us to holiness, to live our life in Him, to allow Him to reign in our life, in all our thoughts, words and deeds May we receive the love of God into our hearts and be open to His grace so that we can respond to His call to proclaim, as instruments of His love and mercy, that Jesus Christ is King and He must reign!

With peace and prayers in Jesus Christ the King,Fr. William

SAINT CLEMENT SCHOOL

ST. CLEMENT & THANKSGIVINGThis year Thanksgiving Day falls three days after the feast of

our patron, St Clement, whose feast day is Monday, November 23 St Clement was the 3rd successor of St Peter, being martyred about the year 100 Like St Paul, St Clement wrote a letter to the church in Corinth in which he urges them to remain faithful to Christ, and to His Body, the Church The closing portion of his letter is a prayer of praise for God’s creation, in which he asks that we reflect upon God’s goodness and respond in gratitude In all things, he urges us to give thanks and praise to God St. Clement, pray for us!

GIVING TREEOnce again our parish will be participating in the Grant County

Holiday Project to help families in need The “Giving Tree” is up and ready for you to help families in need this Christmas Please return all gift, toiletries, and gift cards to church no later than December 13th Place gifts and toiletries under the Giving Tree; gift cards and cash need to be placed in the wooden podium by the parish office entrance We have adopted 9 families who will be very appreciative of our generosity this Christmas Thank you for helping with this corporal work of mercy (Matthew 25:31-46)

HAPPY 80TH BIRTHDAY TO FR. HERBERT SCHMIDT

We would like to wish Fr Herbert Schmidt a very blessed and happy 80th Birthday on Tuesday, December 1 A birthday greeting can be sent to 669 S Washington St Apt C9, Lancaster, WI 53813

A THANKSGIVING PRAYERGracious and generous God, Father of all mercies, on this

Thanksgiving Day we give You humble thanks for Your goodness and kindness We praise You for the beauty of creation, the gift of life and all the blessings You shower upon us; but above all for Your immeasurable love given to us by Your Son, Jesus Christ, who is the true food from Heaven

We ask Your blessing upon this food, upon all those present, and upon all who have worked to provide this meal We pray especially too for those who are away from home and family this day, and for those who live in want and loneliness Keep them under Your watchful care and give us hearts attentive to their plight

And, we pray, give us such an awareness of Your blessings, that with truly thankful hearts, we may show forth Your praise, not only with our lips, but in our lives, by serving you, Lord, and caring for others; by walking before You in holiness and righteousness all our days We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom with You and the Holy Spirit, be honor and glory through all ages Amen

KEEP CHRIST IN CHRISTMAS…WITH A TWIST!The Knights of Columbus are once again conducting their annual

“Keep Christ in Christmas” endeavor, with yard signs available at the entrances of the church BUT this year they are adding something very special They are encouraging parishioners to set up a Christmas outdoor yard display with the theme of “Keep Christ in Christmas” It can be simple, it can be elaborate The focus is to tell the community of the Birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ And there is more! Contact Bill Seyer at 988-6543 to let him know that you are participating On the week of December 21, members of the KCs will drive by each participating home to pick a winner We will also publish in the bulletin the addresses of those who are participating so that you too can see the many displays of “Keeping Christ in Christmas” For questions or to participate, call Bill Seyer Whether you participate or not, more than ever each of us needs to Keep Christ in Christmas!
