Various circumstances and interests continually threaten to make the present day extremely volatile and to emphasize the differences between us rather than the similarities. As Christians, the Lord calls us to be agents of peace in the field of human relationships. First and foremost, the Lord invites us to seek His face present in all human beings. The more we pray to see God present in others the more God will give us the grace to respond accordingly. Because all human beings are created in God's image and likeness, we share a common human nature that transcends racial and cultural difference. Martin Luther King Day invites us to reflect upon how we can improve or make worse divisions in our nation through our daily choices. Race is but one of the many issues that strain human relationships. How is God calling us to be agents of peace in the world? How can we receive God's grace more fully so that this can happen more readily through us? In Christ, Fr. Michael

in the Church

Dear Friends in Christ, This past Monday, January 16, we observed Martin Luther King Day.On this public holiday, we remember Dr. King's great contribution to racial relations in our nation and recall his message of acceptance and people working together in the recognition of their common humanity. Sadly, at this time in our history, racial relations seem to be similarly strained as they were in Dr. King's time. Michael
