Chapter 12:“No Hesitation”

Christina's robes became drenched in the ice cold rain as she flew to

Triton Avenue. Her mind was focused on finding Ian.

I told Ian to stay on Earth and finish his math homework.

The dark skies appeared to darken even more as the full moon

suddenly emerged. Christina saw enchanted wizards down below the in the

streets. They were blasting magic on people's homes and apparently stealing

food from the IceDreamer Bakery.

Oh no. I just finished making those sweet dream cookies!

In the distance, Christina heard the shouts of a boy. “Anyone. Please

help me!”

That must be him!!! Christina pushed her carpet's speed to its limits

and followed the shouting. She immediately saw the figure of a tall scarecrow

pulling a boy into a small tower.

“Hey you! Let go of my son!” Christina screamed. She jumped off her

carpet and brought our her pure sapphire wand.

The scarecrow gasped. “More wizards? I thought that Malistaire had

them all enchanted! No matter, I will enchant you myself. No one messes

with the Harvest Lord!”

Christina aimed her wand at the Harvest Lord and blasted him with a

water laser.

The Harvest Lord was hit hard from the strong water pressure and was

forced to let go of Ian's hand.

“UGH!” The Harvest Lord yelled as his pumpkin head fell off. “You

little witch!”

Ian quickly ran to Icy's side and also brought out his wand.

“Ian you ok?” Christina asked.

“Mom. Now's not the time to ask. We have to destroy him!” Ian said.

Ian's eyes flashed with purple light as he drew the storm symbol in the

air. “Mrots Ekans!1” He yelled.

Please don't let me fizzle Bartleby! Ian thought desperately.

A large purple cobra emerged from Ian's wand. The cobra jumped at

the Harvest Lord and strangled him. Its body surged with electricity.

“NO PLEASE! NO MORE!” The Harvest Lord screamed in pain.

Alex came flying down from the sky and jumped off his broom. “Woah!

Ian did you cast that!?”

“Yes I did! No fizzle this time!” Ian replied.

“Woot!” Alex said.

The Harvest Lord's pumpkin head blasted fire from its eye holes and

tore the cobra to bits. Then, he got up and reattached his head back on his

body.

“This isn't over wizards!” The Harvest Lord sneered. “Attack them my

pets!”

A huge flock of crows suddenly filled the dark sky and covered the full

moon. Their flapping wings emitted the sounds of death.

“Hurry everyone.” Christina said. “We have to combine our powers to

get rid of those things!”

“Arcane Harmony?” Ian asked. “I can't do that yet. I just started

learning magic.”

“Just trust me on this one.” Icy smiled.

The crows all swooped down and prepared to strike. They all cawed

fiercely.

Alex, Icy, and Ian all pointed their wands at the attacking crows.

“Alright. Let em have it!” Christina said.

Thunder Bolts and Blizzard Snows.

We call upon the power of the Titans,

Get rid of these menacing crows.

All three of their wands burst with light. A lightning bolt fell out of the

sky and formed into an enormous purple wyvern, a creature resembling a

dragon.

“N-n-n-ooo.” The Harvest Lord back away.

The wyvern roared and fired blasts of electricity from its mouth,

wiping out all the crows from the sky. All of them fell to the ground near the

Harvest Lord.

“NOO!” He cried “My children of the night!”

The wyvern disappeared into thin air. It left sparks of its stormy power

in the air.

The Harvest Lord was trembling madly. “What are you gonna do with

me! Don't hurt me!”

Christina stepped forward and pointed her wand at the his face. “Tell

us what Lord Nightshade plans to do with the city.”

“Ah. Well. Um.” He started.

Alex and Ian also walked up to the Harvest Lord, in case he tried

something funny.

“I give up!” The Harvest Lord spilled information like a bullet. “He

made a deal with Malistaire. Malistaire crafted a spell for him that turns

wizards into undead servants in exchange for a key to the desert world of

Krokotopia. Now Nightshade plans to turn all of Wizard City's citizens into

his undead slaves. I was paid a generous amount of Crowns to capture

people.”

“Thank you.” Icy smiled and lowered her wand. She walked away

slowly.

“Icy.” Alex said. “You're gonna let him get away?”

Christina suddenly turned around and blasted the scarecrow with

magic. His body was torn to pieces. “That felt refreshing didn't it?” Icy

laughed.

Christina's wand glowed. “Look! I'm receiving a message from Jacob!”

Icy pointed her wand on the ground and a hologram of Jacob

appeared. “Christina, we need some backup. There are a dozen enchanted

wizards guarding the entrance to Lord Nightshade's place. Please come as

soon as possible.”

Icy gave Ian an invisibility potion. “Here Ian, take this potion and get

home as soon as possible. I don't want you in danger.”

Ian nodded and drank the potion. “Be careful mom.”

Alex drank a bottle of his potion too. “I'll go with him to make sure he

gets back safely.”

“Ok. Good luck everyone. We'll get Wizard City back to normal in no

time.” Icy smiled. “You'll pay for everything Nightshade.”
