6. Turning the equipment on and off

Locate the power switch on the right side of the terminal (See position shown in "A" of item 3.3).

6.1. Turning on

Turn the key clockwise to turn on.

Insert the key into the lock.

Therefore, to drive the supply of the terminal just generates a pulse in the ON/OFF switch.

6.2. Turning off / Shutting Down

Use the shutdown through/ by the operating system, but before disconnecting, be sure/ ensure that all applications are duly completed.

To force the hardware shutdown, turn the key clockwise and hold it in this position until you realize that the hardware has been turned off.

Note 2: The forced shutdown will not shut down correctly the application and the operating system; this can corrupt the operating system.

The ideal thing to do is to turn off only through/ by the application, so the application shall take all necessary actions to close it and request a shutdown of the operating system.

7. Installation and Startup

Before connecting the equipment, unpack the product and make sure that all necessary items are included.

If you find:

o Damage caused by transportation, or o Discrepancy between the delivered content and the items on the fiscal note/ Bill of Sale, or o Defects;

Please inform your salesperson or the sales department of Schalter immediately.

Also check the serial numbers of the products with the Nota Fiscal (NF), you will find the serial number on the back of the equipment near the power input and network.

Avoid setting the installation site in humid places, or near the direct action of heat like sunlight or heaters.

The terminal should be connected into an outlet near the equipment and easily accessible, once the plug of the power cord of the equipment can become a device for / of interruption.

7.1. Installing

The installation of Schalter CUSS Kiosk should follow some recommendations, thus avoiding problems with equipment, mainly in relation to the electricity network.

Before performing the installation, verify that the information, described below, on the electrical structure, protection in the electrical network and pattern of sockets were observed.

The correction of any problems in the electrical installation should be done by a qualified professional.

We suggest the appropriateness and preparing the environment for installation of the equipment according to the standards set out below:

7.1.1. Electrical structure

The electrical circuit must be independent, separate from equipment that leads to fall of power and disturbances in the energy. Example: electric motors, compressors, fans, air conditioning, refrigerators, freezers, etc.

Do not use neutral as ground wire and do not unit them next to the terminal. The connection of the ground wire and neutral pin must be done (provided) according to the existing standard of ABNT, being near/ close to the entrance of the concessionaire network/ grid.

The voltage between ground and neutral should be less than 3 VAC.

Another important care that must be observed in the electrical circuit where (that) the terminal will be installed is to avoid multiple connections in the same outlet. .

7.1.2. Protections in electrical network

In the event of an electrical 220 VAC network, if the terminal is using a stabilizer, the equipment can be connected in electrical circuits that have one of the following settings:

o 220 VAC SINGLE PHASE: composed by phase (F), neutral (N) and ground wires (T).

o 220 VAC BIPHASIC: composed by phase (F), Ph (*F) and ground wires (T).

It is necessary to install a protective device for the power grid that supplies the terminal. This device may be a circuit breaker or another that will replace it with equal reliability. Remember that for an electrical biphasic network 220 VAC, there must be a protective device for each of the phases.

7.1.3. Cable and standard of electrical outlet

The power cord is a separate item, but that comes with the product.

The power cord is composed of wires with three- prong plug, so the electrical outlet sockets, AC power, should be standard two pins over the ground pin.

Figure 7.1 Standard Pin out

The socket must have the correct voltage (93 to 130 VAC or 200 to 245 VAC).

7.1.4. Cable entry

The power cables and network have entry into the terminal by the underside of the base. To install a cable and/or remove use the following instructions:

9. Transformer Insulator

This is an optional item: verify if the model of your self-service kiosk/ terminal features this module.

This module has characteristics that adds greater protection and versatility to the terminal.

It protects the product against the following problems:

o Circuit-breaker: it is a resettable fuse of entry (short circuit-breaker), which protects the transformer, shutting off at the mains in case of outbreaks of current caused by overload or short circuit. To reset, press the pin of the circuit-breaker. The module will receive power from the electrical network, without the need to change fuse.

o Varistor: it is a component that limits the voltage spikes coming from the power supply to acceptable values, protecting the equipment.

o Electronic protection against undervoltage and overvoltage: the transformer insulator ensures the regulation of ±6% of nominal output voltage for all specified range of entry. If the conditions are outside the specified range, the transformer insulator will shut down the output of the equipment, providing a more efficient protection under the conditions of network outside the specified range. When the voltage returns to the specified ranges, the output voltage will automatically return.

o Electronic protection against overload: the microprocessor, through the current sampling circuit, detects the variations in consumption of electric loads connected to the power transformer insulator. In case of/ if there is an overload, the module's output will be turned off to protect you from any damage caused by over-consumption.

o Electronic protection against overheating: in case of overheating, the transformer insulator turns off the exit and the LEDs go off. When the temperature returns to normal, an automatic resetting of the product will occur and the output will be turned on (again). Attention: The output will be energized. Routine of the output drive: the transformer insulator only activates/ triggers the output after prior examination of the input voltage conditions and the selection of the stabilization stage, avoiding the appearance of voltage spikes in the output.

o TRUE RMS analysis: the microprocessor, through the voltage sampling circuit, reads the input voltage effectively and automatically, ensuring accuracy in the electronic protections and in the decision-making of the stabilizer, regardless of the quality of the electrical network.

11. Troubleshooting

This section presents the most common problems which can be solved easily, but if the suggested actions are not effective and or the problem(s) continues, please contact Schalter’s support for help.

11.1. Equipment does not turn on

If the equipment is not turning on normally, follow the steps below to verify the probable cause:

a. Check the power connection of the terminal, make sure that the product is connected to the electrical outlet;

o Connect the equipment into an electrical outlet that you are sure to have energy, to check if that solves the problem.

b. If the equipment has Insulator Transformer, verify that the power switch of the isolator is connected: the green LED should be connected (see item 9.2 – Operation indicator panel);

o If the LED is not on, check if the power switch is in the ON position; o If the LED is not connected and the power switch is in the ON position,

perhaps the circuit breaker of input protection has tripped. o Check if the sources are connected to the power strip;

c. If the equipment has NoBreak, check if the stabilizer is attached/ connected; o If the LED is not ON, check if the on/off button is in the ON position; o If the LED is not connected and the power switch is in the ON position,

check if the fuse is not burned.

11.2. Equipment switches off automatically

If the equipment has an insulator transformer, one of the following conditions may have occurred:

When the power grid entry exceeds the limits of normal electric network (critic high and low networks), i.e. conditions where the operation is not safe, the output/ outlet sockets of the processor are automatically switched off. As soon as the mains return to its adequate levels of operation, the outputs are reunited. But you will need to connect the equipment through the on/off switch from the terminal/ kiosk (see item 6 - Turning the equipment on and off).

11.3. Isolator transformer without voltage output

Check if the circuit breaker of input protection has tripped; if necessary press the center part of resetting.

Note: The transformer insulator corrects the variations of the mains powering relays that emit a 'click', similar to an explosion

11.4. No break in battery mode or without voltage output

The ups if auto shut off, after full battery discharge or if stay in mode inverter with minimum load during a specified period. If the ups suffer an auto shutdown will bind again automatically with the return of mains. Before contacting the technical support of Schalter, check the instructions below:

i. Make sure that the UPS is connected to power, and that the UPS is connected.

Page 40: Schalter CUSS Kiosk · Schalter CUSS Kiosk is a product developed and manufactured by Schalter Technology (CNPJ 93,866.382/0001-11 ) using modules certified by IATA (International

ii. Verify that the fuse (rear of equipment) is in good condition; iii. Check audible and visual indication of break, according to item 10.1 of this manual

(signs and diagnosis of problems);

11.5. The LED error (Error) is flashing on the printer

Make sure that the cover of loading of paper and the structure of the roll are properly closed.

11.6. The LED error (Error) is flashing on the printer

o The impression stop if the print head overheat and automatically continue when print head cool.

o Make sure that you have used the correct paper type. o If the paper jammed, remove it in accordance with the procedure indicated in item

"10.7- The paper jams in the printer”'. o Turn the printer off and then, after 10 seconds, connect it. If the LED continues to

flash, it may be necessary to repair the printer.

11.7. Faded print

If a strange substance such as paper dust remains stuck in the thermal head, print quality may be damaged. If this is the case, see item "8.7.2. Clean the course of the paper, the Board of the head and the Thermal head" to clean the thermal head.

11.8. Paper jams in the printer

Important: Do not touch the thermal head, since it can get very hot after printing. Let it cool down before removing the paper jam.

iv. Turn off the printer. v. Open the cover of the roll and press the lever of the roll down to open the

structure of the roll (See images in instruction iv and v of the item 8.7.2); vi. Pull the jammed paper out and remove any twisted, wrinkled or torn paper pieces;

vii. Open the lid of loading paper, pulling the lever for opening the lid upwards (see picture in the instruction vi of item 8.5);

viii. Pull the paper back and remove any twisted, wrinkled or torn paper pieces, if there are some;

ix. Close the roll frame and the cover of the roll; x. Turn on the printer.

xi. Place the paper correctly. (See item 8.5 - Installing the roll of paper).

i. Verify that the network cable is plugged into the CPU, and if the other end of the cable is connected to the internal network switch inside the establishment;

ii. If the cable is connected properly at the two entries/entrances, disconnect and reconnect the two of them; After the completion of this procedure, please try to plug the connection again;

iii. Check if the establishment/ property has a connection to the central server; iv. Ensure that the central server is operating.

11.10. The touchscreen does not work

The first step in a touchscreen system troubleshooting is to determine if the problem is related to the screen display, software or hardware:

Do not confuse display problems with problem on your touchscreen, the two are independent. Software problems are determined by a test of basic hardware functionality . If the hardware transmits tap/ touch coordinates correctly, the problem is with the driver software or application.

Hardware problems can be caused by the touchscreen, the controller, the cabling, the power supply, or by the components integration on the touchscreen. The easiest way to check a hardware failure is through/ by substitution, if you have more than one unit for testing.
