SCHEDULE CHANGE PROCEDURE Student and parent(s) should note that class schedules are finalized prior to school beginning in the Fall. Parent’s signature is requested on this Scheduling Request Card issued to the student, acknowledging that the parent has perused the student’s selection of classes; however, the lack of a parent signature does not negate the Schedule Change Procedure below.

Some students may require schedule changes; however, before initiating a schedule change request for a student please review the following with the student in question. PER SITE-BASED COUNCIL, STUDENTS MAY REQUEST SCHEDULE CHANGES WITHIN THE FIRST FIVE SCHOOL DAYS OF A NEW CLASS FOR THE FOLLOWING REASONS:

A student has been placed in a class that s/he has already taken and passed. A student has not been placed in a class that s/he needs for a requirement. A student has been placed in the wrong class.

*All schedule changes should be initiated through a classroom teacher.

Students and parents should note that class schedules received the first day of school are final.

New this year …

• This year your teachers in the 4 core areas of English, Math, Science, and Social Studies plus World Languages will be making the recommendations for your next course in IC.

• What this means is you should talk to your teacher about what you would like to take next year prior to coming to the computer lab. The teacher should tell you whether that is appropriate for you.

• When you go to the computer lab to enter your requests, the teachers recommendations will already be there. You will not be able to change them.

• The teacher recommendations only apply to the required courses. Elective classes will be available for you to request when you come to the computer lab with your English class.

Let’s Begin with English

• For current 11th graders:– English IV OR Dual Credit English 101 and 102 OR AP English

A Few Math Notes• Your math teacher knows what is appropriate for your next

math course• The math teachers will be making requests in IC for

appropriate placement for next year.• The only opportunities to double up on required math courses

are to take both Geometry and Algebra II.• AP Statistics may be taken concurrently with any math course

after Algebra II.• If you sign up for AP Calculus BC, you must also sign up for AP

Calculus AB. • Must have a minimum of 1 math course each year.

A Few Notes on Social Studies

• You must complete an essay and be accepted into the AP World History course.

• Social Studies electives will be listed on a slide to come a bit later.

BRAND NEW OPPORTUNITY

• LINK CREW– Open to current 10th-11th grade students; application required– Work with incoming 9th grade students to help them transition to high

school life– 1 credit elective class– If selected, you will help plan and run the freshmen orientation this

summer, plan and deliver lessons during the year to freshmen, be a leader and friend to a group of about 10 freshmen.

– See Ms. Sandor (rm. 116) or Ms. Hunt (rm. 108) for application – If you are interested in being a Link Leader write Link Crew in one spot

of your scheduling card. If you are not selected we will replace it with one of your alternate choices.

Classes Available at the Art Center

• The following are enrichment programs offered outside of the school day:– Visual Art Portfolio Preparatory Class (afterschool

one day a week from 4-7)– Oldham County Chamber Ensemble (afterschool

one day a week from 4:30-6:00)– Oldham County Jazz Connection (before school

three days a week from 7:00-8:00 AM)
