Both are seeking re- election. Also on the ballot will be a three year term for the position of board member. RichardGroat, appointed to this post last No- vember, is seeking election for the board seat. Pollution Control $64 Hillion Question Selection of the levels for air and water pollution control standards may well turn out to be a $64-billion question. This is the opinion of Daniel W. Cannon of the National Association of Manufacturers, speaking at the recent annual meeting of the Louisiana Man- ufacturers Association. He emphasized that, "There can be no disagreement about pol- lution control standards which are demonstrably necessary to protect health and property." Hut, he said, there is "delicate balance of cost-benefit relation- ships" beyond this point. "Solutions to pollution prob- lems can be very complicated and very expensive," Mr. Can- non said. "A few extra degrees of pollution control, say from 90 to 93 per cent, may be as expensive as the first 90 per cent. We were glad to welcome Andrew Johnson from Kent City with us. We hope that he had a good time and will be able to be with us regularly. Everyone enjoyed the "Four Cousins" quartet who entertained us with a fine program. The men have been singing together since their high school days and have been in demand whenever they have been able to get together. David Cumings, first tenor, Jon Cumings, second tenor, JohnLo- vell, baritone, and Leo Cumings, make up the group. David and Jon are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Cumings, John is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dick Lovell and Leo is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Archie Cumings. This will be the last time that they will be together for some time as Leo is returning to Salem, Ore- gon, where he will graduate from the Western Baptist Bible College. He is planning to con- tinue his education in the Bap- tist Seminary in Portland, Ore- gon. Sorry to report that William (Bill) Noller and Oscar Johnson are in Blodgett Hospital for sur- gery, but we understand that they are doing fine and may be home the latter part of this week. Most of our shut-ins are about the same except Ben Halstead and Pearl Wood are not coming along so well. Men, don't forget that the date for our annual picnic is June 18, rain or shine, at the shelter house at Long Lake. ticipation by industrial com- panies in an effort to assure that the standards adopted are both reasonable and progres- sive."
