George lwaniw,82 George Iwaniw, aged 82,

of Shaw Road, Bailey, passed away Monday, August 24, at his home.

Born January 19, 1888 in the Ukraine, he came to the United States in 1913, settling in Chi-cago. He moved to Muskegon Heights in 1916 and then to Bailey in 1926 and marr ied Margaret Cap in Chicago in 1916.

He was a f a rmer by occupa-tion and a member of the Saint Nicholas Catholic Church In Muskegon Heights.

Surviving are a son, Nick of Bailey; two daughters, Mrs. Ann Lyals and Mrs. Mary Us-mial, both of Muskegon; eleven grandchildren and eight great -grandchildren.

Requiem Mass will be sung from Saint Nicholas Catholic Church at . 10 a.m. Friday with Father Richard Kubiak as cele-brant . Interment wlllbe in Mona View Cemetery. Friends may visit the Lee Funeral Home where the Rosary will be r e -cited at 8 p.m. Thursday.

Henry Nielsen, 80 Services were held Wednes-

day at the Hessel Cheslek Fu-neral Home for Henry Nielsen, 80, of 1531 10 Mile Road,Com-stock Park, who passed away Sunday, August 23, at Kent Com-munity Hospital following a long illness.

Survivors include his wife.

Inga; two daughters, Mrs . Louis Dykstra of Sparta and Mrs . Har-old Plescher of Comstock Park; two sons,ElmerSunde and Oscar Sunde, both of Grand Rapids; 13 grandchildren; 14 g rea t -g r -andchildren; two brothers, Her-man Nelson of Greenville and Walter Nielsen of Comstock Park and one sis ter , Mrs. Fred Rowley of Sparta.

Officiating was the Rev. Jay DeBoer. Burial was at Green-wood Cemetery.

Hazel Berry 80 Services were held Thursday

afternoon In the Hessel Cheslek Funeral Home for Mrs. Hazel Berry, 80, of 24 S. Union Street, Sparta, who passed away Monday, August 17, at F e r -guson-Droste-Ferguson Hospi-tal in Grand Rapids.

Mrs. Berry lived In Sparta since 1935 when she moved here from Greenville. She was a member of the Sparta United Methodist Church, Senior Cit i -zens and the Pr incess Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star In Greenville.

Survivors include two sons, Richard A. Berry of Stanton and Alton B. Berry of Modesta, California; two daughters, Mrs. J e s s Billman of Baldwin and Mrs. Lorne Campbell of Cal-ifornia; mine grandchildren; four greai-grandchlldren; se -veral nieces and nephews.

Officiating was the Rev. Paul Patterson. Burial was at Fores t Home Cemetery in Greenville.

Sporto OES Schhedules Panoramic Pictures of Southwest States on

Sparta Local

The Sparta Chapter of the O r -der of Eastern.Star has sched-uled a panoramic picture entitled "In the Golden South-west" at 8 p.m. Friday, Sep-tember 25, in the Sparta Ma-sonic Temple, according to Mrs. Lillian Blough, chairman.

The panoramic picture will be accompanied by descriptive monologue and a musical back-ground.

According to Mrs . Blough We begin our t ravels in New

Mexico the Land of Enchant-ment.

We stop at Carlsbad Caverns, then go to the White Sands Mis-sile Base.

We see irr igated fields of Alfalfa on our way to Santa Fe, where we admire the old Span-ish Architecture in various old buildings as well as the New UI-tra Modern State Building.

In Arizona we visit Tomb-stone and Bisbee to see The Open Pit Copper Mine, then on to old Tucson and the San Xavier Mission on the Papeco Indian Reservation.

After taking in the Grand, Zion and Brice Canyons, we stop at Salt Lake City. Here we visit the Capitol Building and Temple Square.

We see many Spectacular Scenes in Colorado, and finish our tour in Southwest Colorado at Mesa National Park , one of the Nation's ma jo r archeologi-cal p r e se rves .

Everyone is welcome to attend this event, the f i rs t of i ts kind ever to be sponsored by the Sparta OES. Tickets a re $1 for adults and 50 cen t s fo r chi l -dren until 12 years of age. Re-f reshments will be served.
