Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) is a technique evolving rapidly

from the realms of cardiothoracic surgery and cardiology to intensive care

medicine worldwide. Not only has it evolved but has improved in many ways with

respect to compact and user friendly equipment and has provided new options in

the treatment of severe circulatory and respiratory failure in patients of all age

groups. The most important thing is that it has provided us with the hope of saving

the life of patients when, As with any aspect of critical care medicine, all else fails.

the knowledge about efficacy, techniques and potential complications of ECMO is

expanding at a fast pace.

For ECMO to become a standard of care, more evidence and dissemination of

knowledge is needed.

With this as our aim, we are pleased to announce the 3rd Annual Conference on

ECMO in collaboration with the Delhi chapter of ISCCM and Fortis Memorial

Research Institute, Gurgaon. Armed with the success of our first two conferences,

this edition is aimed at further enhancing our expertise, technical and medical

both, in this complex modality. We hope this year also, we will continue to enable

an exchange of knowledge among foremost experts in the field-both national and

international and, thus propagate it in India.
