Personal Interests Playing sports, mostly soccer. Reading Watching movies

Writing Section Please answer the following questions.

1. Please explain why you are the right type of person to teach overseas.I am a young, intelligent and committed person with intentions to make use of all my years at school and university. Now that I have graduated and have been working in Belfast for a full year, I have saved enough money to travel; something that I love to do. I have not been to Asia before but I would love the chance to. I am a curious person who would embrace a cultural change.I have prepared to move to Korea and teach through extensive reading and research and also by completing the online TEFL course. I want to use my knowledge of English to benefit others. Furthermore, I wish to be an English teacher as my career. This opportunity to teach overseas will give me invaluable and unique teaching experience which will benefit my future career opportunities.

2. Please explain what qualities you think are necessary to be a good teacher.A good teacher should have a very good knowledge about their subject, they should be inspirational, patient with the students, they should be approachable yet respected, be motivational, engaging and interesting. They should also be able to see students’ shortcomings and be able to correct students without affecting their confidence or motivation for the subject.

3. Please describe how you would deal with a workplace dispute with another co-worker or supervisor.I would talk the situation through with the co-worker or supervisor, ask them to explain their perspective, listen carefully and then carefully explain my opinion on the matter. I would praise their ideas if I believe them to be valuable or right and emphasize where the conflict lies. Finally, after careful thinking, I would suggest a compromise and try my very best to resolve the situation, with the assistance of the co-worker or supervisor.

4. Please describe some actions you could take if you began feeling homesick or lonely while in Korea. This feeling is inevitable while away for so long in a new land. In order to combat or reduce the problem, I would try and get involved with the local community in Korea. I would join a local team i.e. soccer team, join a hiking society or some other group-based community or society. I could engage more with my co-workers or neighbors and invite them out in order to socialize with them and get to know them better. Also, I would be comforted by the availability of high speed technology in Korea. I would simply call my home to talk to my family and I could also talk to my friends on the phone or on Skype or a social network internet site.

5. Do you have any other plans for your time in Korea? (Further study, hobbies to pursue, places to visit?)While I am in Korea, I fully intend to join a soccer team. I love to play soccer and I love the exercise and camaraderie involved. I plan to write a lot while I am away too. Also, I want to travel around Korea and see as much of it as possible. Furthermore, once my contract(s) ends, I want to travel to other Asian countries, if possible.
