B-on’s service today
• In production since 2004• Based on federated search (Metalib):
– Real time search in several “live” databases;
– Search time limited by the slowest database;
– The number of user interactions until reaching the desired information is often high and requires navigation in more than one interface.
• We have frequent complaints by our users.

B-on’s service today
– We have ONE Metalib/SFX consortia license;
– The configuration is the same for all institutions (pesquisa.b-on.pt), except for the resources;
– There are two main content packages: one for Hospital Members and other for Academics Members;
– Every institution has one of these content packages;
– We manage access to these resources at a central level in the consortium Metalib/SFX;
– We only provide electronic content. We don’t have catalogs or repositories.

First impressions
• Not so good– Primo Central contents coverage– Authentication (is not working)
– How to lead with different needs in terms of member access to holdings (academic members x hospital members)?
• IP Institutions identification -> same primo with different holdings?
• Use search scopes?
• Use of tabs?
We are waiting for EL clarification.
