PUNJAB: Punjab is the second largest and the most populated province of

Pakistan. Lahore is the capital of Punjab. Famous sites such as Badshahi Mosque,

Lahore Fort, Minar-e-Pakistan, and Shalimar Gardens are in Lahore.

SINDH: Karachi is the capital of Sindh. It is the largest city and sea-port of

Pakistan. The tomb of Quaid-e-Azam is in Karachi. The archeological site of

Mohenjo-Daro is in Sindh.

BALOCHISTAN: Quetta is the capital of Balochistan. The Gwadar Port lies to the

South of Balochistan. The residency of Quaid-e-Azam lies in Ziarat, Balochistan.

KHYBER PAKHTUNKHWA: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is the third most populated

province of Pakistan. Peshawar is its capital city. It has a wealth of natural

resources, such as marble, and precious stones. The shrines of Rahman Baba and

Hazrat Khwaja Kaka Sahib are in this province.

Conflict: A conflict is a disagreement or a fight.

world.

Q3. What are some of the things that happen when there is a war?

Ans. 1. During a war or conflict, it is difficult for normal life to

continue.

2. War can stop people from getting education.

3. It can stop normal services, such as electricity and health

care.

4 People can die or be injured.

5. Life during wartime is stressful.

Q4. What does “soothing” mean?

Ans. Soothing means tending to calm the emotions and relieve stress.

Q4. Why is livestock farming important for Pakistan?

Ans. Farmers rear oxen, buffaloes, sheep, camels, cows and goats. Some are bred

to provide us meat and milk. There are many international companies making dairy

products, which are now operating in Pakistan. Therefore, livestock farming is

very important for Pakistan.

Ans. The reasons why forests are important:

1. Plants make oxygen which animals and humans need to stay alive.

2. Medicines are made from many plants.

3. Trees give us fruits, leaves, bark, flowers and nuts.

4. Soft wood is pulped and made into paper.

5. Forests provide shelter to wild life.
