The Monu Galvaderm Electrotherapy

Treatment is a complete facial

treatment which deep cleanses through

desincrustation and re-hydrates through

iontophoresis. It also helps to normalise

Galvanic Current:The galvanic current is a direct current. Its strength

remains constant and it has a safe, low voltage level.The Galvaderm machine has a patented circuit -

Constant Current Generator (CCG) - ensuring a

constant flow of the set current no matter what the

skins resistance. The galvanic current will ionise

molecules that contain metallic atoms.

Desincrustation:Desincrustation has the effect of removing excess

sebum and wastes found in the epidermis. The alkali

Sodium Hydroxide is produced under the cathode (-).

This has several effects including:

Drying of the skin

Softening the build up of sebum

Breakdown of the keratinised cells in the

superficial layers of the skin

Opens the pores and release blockages

Destroys the acid mantle

Desincrustation is therefore used as a deep

cleansing treatment.

Iontophoresis:During iontophoresis the active substances in the gels

are introduced into the skin by the current where they

absorb to a deep level. Hydrochloric Acid is

produced at the anode (+) which has the following

effects:

The acid mantle is restored due to the formation

of hydrochloric acidIt has a tightening and firming effect on the skin

Tissue fluid moves away from the anode

Revitalises the tissues

Improves the oxygen levels

High Frequency Current:This is an alternating current that

changes direction i.e. an oscillating

current. When the high frequencycurrent is applied to the skin, atoms in

the Monu Galvanic Oxycreme (the

stabilised oxygen molecules) separate

to release free oxygen atoms. This gas

is bactericidal and kills microbes at the

same time as inhibiting the growth of

bacteria.

Direct High Frequency:This setting is stimulating and drying

and generally used on an oily skin.

However its use can be adjusted to suit

a dry mature skin type by reducing the

time to a maximum of five minutes.

High Frequency:When using this setting, check the

comfort of the client and the skins

reaction, keeping current low for dry

skin. The machine is very quiet when in

operation. It is important not to lift the

high frequency electrode off the skin

when the current is switched on or a

slight shock could occur.

Galvaderm Galvanic Range

The Galvanic range contains pure plant extracts,

essential oils and trace elements. Galvanic

Oxycreme, the oxygenating cream, is suitable for all

skin types and is used with high frequency. The

Galvanic Gels are for use with a galvanic current and

there is one suitable for dry, one for normal and one

for oily skin and one for the eye area. Lotion Electra

will help reduce the skins natural resistance to

Remove eye make-up and lipstick. Wipe away any residue with Eye Lotion and blot.

Cleanse the face and neck with the appropriate cleanser.

Tone with the appropriate toner and blot.

Apply Lotion Electra with the fingertips to the entire area to be treated.

Select appropriate Galvanic Gel and apply liberally to the area to be treated.

Set the Monu Galvaderm Machine to the correct setting for the skin type and work the electrodes over the area

for 10 minutes. If desincrustation has been used, remove the gel thoroughly and extract comodones if required.

Apply Lotion Electra then a fresh layer of gel for iontophoresis.

Apply a liberal amount of Oxycreme to the area to be treated. Now apply gauze. Set the high frequency current

to a suitable strength and use for 5-10 minutes depending on skin type. Remove gauze and any excess cream.

Using two measuring beakers, prepare the

Prescription Gel Mask and Massage Cream as

follows: Prescription Gel Mask = 10ml Gel Base + 5ml

Extracts + 1 ml Activator. Prescription Massage Cream

= 10ml Gel Base + 5 ml Extracts + 1ml Activator + up

to 5ml Cream Phase (depending on how rich you

need it).

Massage the Prescription Massage Cream into the

face, neck and shoulders for 15 minutes. (Please note:

there may be a slight desquamation after

massaging).

Remove any excess cream. Tone with the appropriate

toner and blot.

Apply the Prescription Gel Mask to the skin using a

spatula.

Apply eye pads soaked in Eye Lotion.

After 10-15 minutes remove the eye pads and then

remove the mask with a spatula. Remove the residue

with sponges and warm water.

Spray with Toning Mist and blot.

Complete the treatment by applying eye and lip

care, appropriate day cream and specialised

products.

Contra-indications

Whilst this is a safe treatment it is wise to checkcertain factors. Prior to the treatment you shouldcheck with your client for the following contra-indications:

Receiving medication or treatment(get a doctors note first)

Metal pins or plates(including metal denture plates)

Excess metal fillings in teethPacemakers or other electronic device

Pregnancy

If in any doubt, obtain a doctors permissionfirst.

Remember to remove all jewellery from yourclient and yourself prior to treatment.

After CareIn addition, your client should follow theseguidelines after a Galvaderm treatment:

Wait six hours after the treatment before facialwaxing, electrolysis, sun-beds or sauna.

No make up should be worn for eight hours afterthe treatment.

No swimming for twenty four hours after thetreatment as the chlorine in the water can causea reaction.

After preparing the skin for treatment apply Galvanic Gel D to entire face and neck.Apply Single Electrode using positive polarity (iontophoresis) for 4 minutes

concentrating on small areas.

Apply more gel if necessary and use Twin Ball Electrodes on positive polarity for

6 minutes.

Leave thin layer of gel on the skin and apply Oxycreme followed by High Frequency

current for approx 3-5 mins.

normal/combination skin:After preparing the skin for treatment apply Galvanic Gel N or Galvanic Gel O

to the T zone.

Apply Single Electrode using negative polarity (desincrustation) on the T zone

for 4 minutes.

Carry out extraction, if indicated. Remove all remaining gel. Tone and blot.

Apply more Lotion Electra followed by Galvanic Gel N or Galvanic Gel O on the

T zone and Galvanic Gel D to the remaining areas.

Apply Twin Ball Electrodes using the positive pole (iontophoresis) for 6 minutes.

Leave a thin layer of gel on the skin and apply Galvanic Oxycreme followed by

High Frequency current for approx 5-7 mins.

Oily or spot prone skin:

After preparing the skin for treatment apply Galvanic Gel O to the face and neck.

Apply Single Electrode using negative polarity (desincrustation) for 3 minutes,

paying attention to the nose and the chin.

Apply more gel if necessary and work with Twin Ball Electrodes on negative polarity

for 5 minutes.

Remove any excess gel and do extraction.

Apply more Lotion Electra followed by Galvanic Gel O and use Twin Ball Electrodes

for 2 minutes on positive polarity (iontophoresis) to restore pH balance.

Leave a thin layer of gel on the skin and apply Galvanic Oxycreme followed by

High Frequency for required time.

course of six treatments to be given once a

week, then once a month for maintenance.

All skin types Duration: 1 hour(or 45 mins, if part of Galvaderm Facial).

Procedure:

Remove all eye make-up and lipstick. Wipeaway any residue with Eye Lotion and blot.

Cleanse the face and neck with the appropriatecleanser.


Apply eye pads soaked in Eye Lotion and leaveon for 5 minutes. Remove and blot.

Have two beakers ready. In one beaker, mix aPrescription Gel Mask as follows: 10ml GelBase + 2ml Tissue Extracts + 2ml PhytoStimulants + 1ml Activator.

Take half of this mixture and put in the otherbeaker. Add 1ml Prescription Cream Phase,

this makes the Prescription Massage Cream.Apply a small amount of Lotion Electra to eyearea.

Apply Galvanic Gel E to eye area.

Apply iontophoresis for 7 minutes using themethod as taught on Galvaderm ElectrotherapyDay. Use the Single Electrode and keep thecurrent very low (max 0.3).

Remove Galvanic Gel E with Eye Lotion. Blot.

Apply half the contents of an Ampoule for DrySkin to eye area and tap in gently.

Soak sterile gauze in the remaining ampoule fluid. Place thegauze over the eye area, tucking the ends of the gauze intothe clients headband to secure.

Keeping the current very low, apply High Frequency currentfor 5 minutes using the Single Electrode - use the method astaught on Galvaderm Electrotherapy Day.

Remove the gauze but do not blot.Using the Prescription Massage Cream, gently massage theeye area for 10 minutes, using lymphatic drainage techniquesif trained. Remove any excess cream with Eye Lotion andblot.

Apply the Prescription Gel Mask to the eye area.


After 10 minutes, remove the eye pads and then removemask with damp cotton wool and tone with Eye Lotion.

Complete the treatment by applying eye and lip care,appropriate day cream and specialised products.

Remove any residue of gel from the face with

Apply contents of an Ampoule for Dry Skin to theface, neck and eye area using gentle tappingmovements until absorbed.

Apply Oxycreme to the face and neck and reststerile gauze on top. Set high frequency and workfor 7 minutes.

After 10-15 minutes remove the eye pads and then remove themask with a spatula. Rinse off remainder.


Complete the treatment by applying eye and lip care,Collagen Cream and Neck and Bust Cream.

It is important that no make-up is worn for eight hours after

For best results, the treatment should be given

once a week for six weeks and then once a

Dry, mature skins Duration: 1 hr 15 mins

Procedure:First cut two small triangles from the corners ofthe mask. Then place the folded masklengthways against the face and mark thepositioning of the nostrils (and mouth, if required).Take the mask away from the face and cut smallslits where you have marked.

Remove eye make-up and lipstick. Wipe awayany residue with Eye Lotion and blot.

Cleanse the face and throat with Cleanser.


Prepare the Prescription Massage Cream asfollows: 10ml Gel Base + 2ml Tissue Extracts +2ml Phyto Stimulants + 1ml Trace Elements +1ml Activator + 1ml Cream Phase.

Massage the Prescription Massage Cream intothe face, neck and upper chest for 15 minutes.

Remove any excess cream with Delicate FacialWash and warm water. Blot.



Place the two small triangles cut from the cornersof the mask under the eyes and dampen with

warm water, using a press and release action as taught onFacial Day Level 2.

Apply the Active Collagen Mask to the face.

Press the mask gently in place with wet sponges.

Activate the mask by gently massaging your fingertips over themask. The active substances in the biomatrix are nowreleased and mobilised.

Apply contents of an Ampoule for Dry Skin on top of the maskand tap in evenly.

Apply galvanic current using iontophoresis with Twin BallElectrodes over the mask for 15 minutes. Avoid the edges ofthe mask or it will start to lift off the skin.

Leave the mask on for a further 15 minutes. During this period,massage the arms and hands using Hydrating Body Lotion.

Carefully peel off the mask in one piece by rolling it up fromthe neck.

IMPORTANT do not rinse the skin or use toner.

Complete the treatment by applying eye and lip care, Rescue

Serum day and specialised products.

Procedure:

Cleanse the back with Cleanser.



Apply a generous amount of Galvanic Gel O tothe area.

Apply galvanic current using desincrustation withTwin Ball Electrodes over the back for 10 minutes.Remove comedones, if indicated.

Remove any excess gel with Soap Free Facial

Wash and warm water. Blot.Apply more Lotion Electra and a fresh layer ofGalvanic Gel O.

Apply galvanic current using iontophoresis withTwin Ball Electrodes for 5 minutes.

Apply Oxycreme to the area to be treated. Nowapply sterile gauze over the area. Set HighFrequency and work using Large MushroomElectrode for 10 minutes (the Small MushroomElectrode may be used on spots).

Remove gauze and remove any excess cream.


Prepare the Prescription Gel Mask and Massage Cream asfollows:

Prescription Gel Mask = 10ml Gel Base + 2ml Witch Hazel +2ml Burdock + 1ml Camphor + 1ml Activator.

Prescription Massage Cream = 10ml Gel Base + 2ml WitchHazel + 2ml Burdock + 1ml Camphor + 1ml Activator + 1mlCream Phase.

Massage Prescription Massage Cream into the back andshoulders for 10 minutes.



After 10-15 minutes, remove the mask with a spatula. Rinse offremainder.


Complete the treatment by applying Mattifying Lotion to theback and Purifying Cream to problem areas.

Procedure:

Remove eye make-up and lipstick. Wipe away any residuewith Eye Lotion and blot.

Cleanse the face and throat with the appropriate cleanser.


Exfoliate with Peeling Cream.

Apply Facial Wash and gently massage in. Rinse off.

Immerse a compress in a bowl of hot water containing 1-2drops of the appropriate essential oil. Apply the compressto the face and press gently onto the skin. Proceed byfollowing the method taught on Facial Day Level 1.Remove comedones, if indicated.

Using two measuring beakers prepare a Prescription GelMask and Massage Cream as follows:
