Learning Target:Students will learn how to round decimals to a given place value.
Using a number line to round:
You round a decimal by deciding which number it is closer to.
The same idea applies to the rounding rules.
Rounding Rule:To round a decimal to a given
place value, look at the digit in the place to the right.
- If the digit is 4 or less, round down.
- If the digit is 5 or greater, round up.
Use a number line / rounding rule to round the decimal as specified.
1. 1.3 (nearest one)
2. 3.86 (nearest tenth)
