Our Call to Action team continues to make

progress on developing our Congregational Ministry

Plan. By the time you read this, Trinity’s team will

have met three times. We have to give an update at

Charge Conference (September 18 at 6 PM), and our

goal is to have the final report turned in to the District

Office by November 1. Please pray for our team as

we wrestle with where we are now and what God is

calling us to be and do next.

As much as we would like to, Trinity simply

can’t be all things to all people. Because our time,

energy, and resources are limited, we cannot accept

every suggestion that is made. Sometimes good ideas

must be ignored so that a better idea can be supported.

It is far better for us to do one or two things extremely

well than to run ourselves ragged trying to do a dozen

things in a mediocre (or poor) way.

A key word with the Call to Action is vital.

1. Disciple making and world transformation

occurs through vital congregations.

Vital congregations are Spirit-filled,

forward-leaning communities of believers that:

(a) welcome all people,

(b) make disciples of Jesus Christ, and

(c) serve like Christ through ministries of

justice and mercy.

2. A vital congregation has 5 characteristics:

(a) Inviting and inspiring worship

(b) Engaged disciples in mission and outreach

(c) Gifted, equipped, and empowered lay

leadership

(d) Effective, equipped, and inspired clergy

leadership

(e) Small groups and strong children’s programs

and youth ministry.

3. A vital disciple (not “volunteer”) is a changed

follower of Jesus: (a) Disciples worship

(b) Disciples make new disciples

(c) Disciples engage in growing their faith

(d) Disciples engage in mission

(e) Disciples give to mission.

Where will the Lord lead us? I don’t know.

But if we will look through the windshield (and not the

rearview mirror), God will take us to exciting places

that we never dreamed possible.

Blessings,

Pastor David

WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY RESUMES SEPTEMBER 7TH.

We are in the works for making some slightly new changes

for our children's dept. schedule on Wednesday night. I feel

that these new changes are going to be loved by all! So don't

miss out on the fun, please plan to join us on Wednesday

nights this year. The more kids we have the more they will

all enjoy these new changes to their Wonderful Wednesday

schedule. _______________________________________________________________

Wonderful Wednesday Beginning Soon!!

September 7th at 5:45 p.m. The schedule, pricing, etc. will

remain the same as last year.

Chris Oldenberg will be cooking the meals most weeks, but

the weeks he is not available Sunday School classes and

other groups may cook. If your group is interested in cook-

ing one week, please contact Tracy Horner at 552-8810.

Each group will be allowed to cook once in the Fall & once

in theSpring. Please make plans to join us for this

mid-week fellowship opportunity!

_________________________________________ We are exploring the possibility of videotaping the service

(from the balcony) and posting it on the internet. We would

like to borrow a digital camcorder for one Sunday as an

experiment before deciding whether to purchase a digital

camcorder. If you have a digital camcorder that we could

borrow for one Sunday, please let us know. We are only

looking to borrow a camcorder that makes a digital

recording, not one that uses tapes.

Thanks,

Lyle Montieth and Tom Garland
