A card was sent to Andy Houston to let him know that his friends in Newcomers' Club are sending their best thoughts for good healing. Some recent health issues have prevented his participation in our activities.

After release from the Spring Creek Care Center the end of July, Nancy Stewart Ramsdell will continue the healing process at her home. She is recuperating from a serious fall and broken pelvis.

Community Resources

The Sharing Place is one of our 2015 Newcomers’ charitable grant recipients. It is an organization that offers grief support for children ages 3 to 18 and families to deal with the loss of a loved one. The Sharing Place served over 300 people last year. They currently offer 15 age related grief support groups which meet twice a month for about 90 minutes. The Sharing Place receives private and corporate financial support. The website offers guidance in how to talk about death and other issues. The staff said that they would love to show us around so we can see where the children begin their healing journey.

KNITTERS AND CROCHETERS

Purple Newborn Hats Last year we knit and crocheted about 80 Purple Hats for November’s “Purple Hats for Shaken Baby Syndrome.” This is a nationwide endeav-or to provide all parents of newborns with a purple hat and education ma-terial about Shaken Baby Syndrome.

We had so much fun and warm, fuzzy feelings last year that we are doing it again this year! Please call or email Gail Senteney for information, patterns. Gail will be responsi-ble for picking up and delivering the hats. Better yet, join us for Stitch and Gab on the 4th Tuesday of the month. Gail @ 801-256-0530 or [email protected]
