Lorah’s Truck & Tractor Pulls
The Lorah Family has been farming in Lehigh Township for over 100 years. Grow-ing up, going to the Tractor pulls at the lo-cal fairs was a family tradition. We began hosting
tractor pulls at our farm in 2006 holding one event per year. Since then we have grown to multiple events a year and in-creased the size of our track to allow for two sleds to be run side by
side. Our Track mea-sures 100' x 300'. We have Truck pulls on Friday nights and Lawn Tractor, and Tractor Pulls on Satur-days. Our events have brought competitors from the surrounding counties in Pennsyl-vania as well as New York, Maryland, New Jersey, Delaware and Connecticut.
There is always plenty to eat at our Pulls fresh from our Farm. We look to provide great entertainment for the spectators and a fun and safe environ-ment for the pullers. We are located at 4739 S. Cypress Dr., Walnutport, PA 18088. Call 610-767-3515 or 610-760-9507 for addi-tional information.

Lyons Fiddle Festival Welcome to Long-meadow Farm! Start-ed in 1993, we origi-nally began by selling pumpkins for Hal-loween. But it wasn’t long before Bradley Burke, Longmeadow’s owner, felt that some-thing more was in order. And with that decision, our apple orchard was planted. Today, Longmeadow Farm has 15 varieties of apples along with our pumpkins and so much more. Apple picking sea-son at Longmeadow brings new varieties almost every week-end. Our season runs from the first weekend in September through the last weekend in October. Though, sometimes the season can be longer depend-ing on the weather! We are open on those Sat-urdays and Sundays from 9AM to 5PM. To find what types of apples we have and when they are avail-

(NAPSI)—Next to your home itself, a home comfort system is one of the largest investments you will make. That’s why the decision to purchase a heat pump, gas fur-nace or central air conditioner is a signif-icant one—a decision that requires careful thought and research. To help you make an intelligent decision about heating, ven-tilation and air-con-ditioning (HVAC) equipment, here are 10 common questions—and answers—from the experts at the Cole-man brand of Johnson Controls. 1. Is installing a cen-tral HVAC system re-ally necessary? In new homes or remodels, a central home comfort system provides the highest level of overall com-fort, indoor air quality and humidity control. 2. Should I repair or replace my existing system? As a rule of thumb, replace your existing home comfort system when repairs cost 30 percent of a new pur-

chase—or when utility bills have increased 50 percent as a result of older, less-efficient systems that use more, higher-priced electric-ity. 3. How much can I save with new equip-ment? Air-conditioning and heating equip-ment consume about 44 percent of a home’s
energy bill. Today’s ENERGY STAR-qual-ified systems are as much as 60 percent more efficient than 10-year-old equip-ment. 4. How do I select the right heating/cooling system? Get solid advice from an expert. The right contractor can perform a load cal-
culation or an energy analysis to determine your operating costs. After getting to know your needs, he or she can customize a sys-tem just for you. 5. How can I be sure I’m selecting the right contractor? Seek out a contrac-tor who is associated with a recognized brand. If the contrac-
tor is backed by the product and training resources of a major manufacturer, you will feel confident
that you’re getting the home comfort system that best meets your needs. 6. If I have an exist-
ing system, can any of these components be reused? Every system is Continued on Page 8

Page 7different. After a thor-ough inspection of your electrical sys-tem, ductwork and other components, your contractor will provide a rundown of what you need to replace and what you can keep. 7. What is the best thermostat to use with
my system? Look for a program-mable thermostat for accurate, reliable, en-ergy-saving perfor-mance. For added sav-ings and convenience, the Coleman Echelon Residential Commu-nicating Control with Wi-Fi support works with mobile devices to easily program your system, wherever you are.
8. What does the air handler do for my sys-tem? An air handler cir-culates conditioned air throughout your home. You can com-bine it with accesso-ries to filter, humidify or dehumidify the air stream as needed. 9. What can I do to improve indoor air quality? Indoor air can be
from five to 100 times more polluted than outdoor air. Adding humidifiers, dehumid-ifiers, ventilation sys-tems, ultraviolet lights and air filter technolo-gies can dramatically improve your indoor air quality. 10. How complicat-ed is a new system in-stallation? That depends on the house and the system.
While air condition-ers and gas furnaces require different com-ponents, the com-mon denominator is ductwork, which must be properly sized and zoned for proper system performance. Your contractor can evaluate your existing setup and tell you how simple your installa-
tion will be. To learn more, visit

Heat Pump orFurnace - Which Is

Page 8 air rather than heated water. A heat pump does this by extract-ing heat from outside air and circulating it through your home. A furnace uses electricity or gas to produce heat. The following tips can help in selecting the system that’s right for you: • Consider the cli-
mate. For people who reside in areas where the temperature rarely dips below 30 degrees, a heat pump may be more affordable than a furnace, removing heat from outside air and transferring it to the home. As tem-peratures drop below 30 degrees, the heat pump must work harder to extract heat and its efficiency de-creases as a result. • Compare efficien-cies. The efficiency of a
heat pump is indicated by the unit’s heating seasonal performance factor (HSPF), while the annual fuel utiliza-tion efficiency (AFUE) measures the efficien-cy of a gas furnace. The higher the HSPF or AFUE, the more ef-ficient the unit and the less fuel it requires to heat your home. • Evaluate fuel costs. Electric furnaces are often considered 100 percent efficient. However, these units
may be more expen-sive to operate, de-pending on the cost of electricity. That’s why it’s always important to consider the cost of available fuels, includ-ing electricity, natural gas and oil, and how they will affect oper-ating costs of the unit you select. • Consider controls. Electronic ones may offer tighter tempera-ture control and the ability to program pe-riods of temperature
setback, improving system efficiency and occupant comfort. • Choose a quali-ty brand. Look for a brand of equipment with a reputation for quality and reliability. • Look for multi-stage units. Some fur-naces, such as the Lux-aire Acclimate series from Johnson Con-trols, offer multi-stage and variable-speed ca-pabilities that improve efficiency, maintain constant temperatures

(NAPS) - When your need to haul stuff for work or DIY proj-ects around the yard, a pickup truck is invalu-able. The downfall of pickup trucks is the lack of secure storage and ability to carry longer items. Truck boxes and racks are a perfect solution for these challenges.
Truck Rack Facts For the workman looking for tough, well-build storage and carrying solutions, there are many op-
significant portion of the truck bed’s weight capacity and decreas-ing gas mileage. • For a higher-qual-ity finish and more style, look for racks and boxes that have been powder coated. This will also provide longer life to these products. • Because of their surface area, look for racks that are aerody-namic. This helps to slice through the wind and keep any wind noise to a minimum. • Some racks are equipped with dual T-slot channels in crossbars, enabling you to mount acces-sories on the top or bottom of the crossbar and store things below

tions on the market. Here are some features to look for when you are in the market: • Because your truck will be exposed to the elements, look for items made of aluminum. Not only are aluminum prod-ucts rust resistant, they are much lighter without compromis-ing strength. Tradi-tional steel truck racks can weigh up to 200 pounds, eating up a
the rack. • Only some of the many options you see on shelves and online are made in the U.S.A., which many people prefer.
Best Chest In addition, you can improve your truck’s storage capacity with lightweight aluminum or tough steel utility chests, boxes, under-mount, cases and even special cages for trans-porting dogs.
Loading Tips Once your truck is fully equipped, load-ing it up can be easier if you heed six hints: 1. Load the heaviest items first, in front and on the floor. 2. Load lightest items last, on the top
and to the rear. 3. Pack all items closely and firmly. 4. Secure partial loads with straps, as close to the front of the cargo area as possible. 5. Never load car-go on the outside of a truck. 6. Always be sure
the cargo door is closed and latched se-curely.
