H igh Hammock V i l las i s a development within the oceanfront community of
Seabrook Is land. The Proper ty O wners Associ-at ion asked us to update the plant ing through-out the ent ire development and to des ign an in-tegrated walking tra i l sy stem. The P.O.A. a lso des ired a new entr y exper ience that would en-hance the new addit ions to the proper ty. The final des ign ca l l s for a ser ies of nodes connect-ed by organic crushed gravel paths . Each node provides s i t t ing areas , f i re pi ts and picnic areas for res idents to enjoy v iews to the surround-ing Ocean W inds Gold Course and the unique natura l beauty of the barr ier i s land. The de-s ign succeeds in encouraging socia l interact ion among neighbors by providing common gather-ing areas for a l l to ut i l ize.

R oper Cancer Center came to Byers Design Group asking us to des ign a specia l out-
door cour tyard and garden for pat ients that are current ly going through chemotherapy treat-ments . The treatments can be long and drawn out , keeping pat ients in bed for hours at a t ime. The intent of the des ign was to provide v isual and sensual therapy to the pat ients whi le they undergo treatment. The large windows of the center give them panoramic v iews of the garden. Specia l wind sculptures wi l l capture breezes and gent ly f low up and down with the a ir, providing great v isual interest . P lants were chosen based on their aromas and colors . The cour tyard a lso provides an area for v is i tors to go outs ide with the pat ients and enjoy the outdoors . A water sculpture in the center of the cour tyard pro-vides a soothing audible texture to the des ign.

A couple in the charming c i t y of Char leston was looking to mimic the c i t y ' s histor ic
formal gardens and cour tyards within their own res ident ia l landscape. They have a smal l cot-tage sty le home and had a l imited amount of proper ty with which to work. The goal of this res ident ia l des ign was to maximaze the space around their home and provide a sequence of formal and informal areas that they could enjoy year round. An new formal entr y to the house was des igned and an organic br ick path takes you through plant ings with a var iety of tex-tures , colors and scents . The path terminates at a formal lawn. The back of the proper ty provid-ed the per fect area for a nice outdoor ki tchen, pat io and fi re pi t . A ref lect ing pool was added to provide a focal point and visual interest .
