How the characters Affect expressionDisruption: The cabbie and Moriarty The cabbie: He used some harmful pills to kill many people, and the pills was provided by Moriarty. This is disruption of this story, police cannot find out who is the murderer, so they asked Sherlock to help them work out it, and the murderer also want to kill Sherlock as well. The main characters in SherlockSherlock (The hero)

Sherlock was very thin and tall, he has two long legs. He also got a black curly hair

Sherlock was very busy, he need to solve many crimes and think a lot, so he doesn’t have many time to eat and have a rest, so he is very thin.

Sherlock always wear that long black coat and put his collar up, he also wear with his scarf and gloves when he go out. He never wear that blue cloth even someone else all wear it. And he also never wear tie as well.

This type of dress up is special and suitable with this character, so when the audience seeing this type of wearing, maybe they will think of Sherlock. His wearing was inform, cause he never wear tie, he use scarf instead of it. And he never wear that blue cloth as well, he is different from others and doesn’t follow the rules.

Sherlock has very good and amazing memory.

He can remember the map about London. So, if in London, Sherlock can know anywhere, so when Sherlock ask cabbie ‘where is it’, the cabbie doesn’t answer him, cause he knows Sherlock certainly know.

Name:Lingman LaiCentre number: 51415

Page 22: Sherlock Mimi's media coursework

Sherlock talks very fast and he always say the answer unclearly.

When he infer something, his though always faster than others, so he talk very faster as well. And he cannot understand why people cannot think about it and just want the final answer, so he always give them a point, then let them to think and he will prove it by himself. For example, he just shout out a word, which is ‘pink’ to someone else, say nothing about what that mean and what that about.

He always doesn’t smile, usually serious, he also doesn’t have any facial expressions.

He has poor facial expressions on his face, always show his serious face. He doesn’t know about how to chat with others and how to be friends with others, but he doesn’t care about this and doesn’t care about what others thinking either. So we can see his mood on his face very often. And I think he is a little bit antihuman and antisocial.

When he is thinking, he doesn’t like anyone else talk. He also will put two hands together under his lower jaw. And he thinks nicotine patch can help he to think.

If you are talking when he is thinking, he will stop you, cause he cannot focus on that if any noise around him. I think this is his feather as well.

Name:Lingman LaiCentre number: 51415

Page 23: Sherlock Mimi's media coursework

When he is walking, he will wear his gloves and put hands in his pocket.

He always walk fast and average speed. Don’t have any other movement, like jump or something else. This gestures will make people feeling his is a very good detective and his has strong powerful. Sherlock Holmes

Sherlock is the main character in Sherlock, he is a hero and he is a wonderful detective as well. He saves many people many people by find out the murderer and solves many crimes as well. Cause he is very busy and need to think a lot, so he doesn’t have too much time to eat and have a rest, so he is very tall and thin. He has two long legs and black curly hair. He is a very serious person, he always serious and doesn’t smile a lot, he has a poor facial expression. He feeling hard to communicate with someone else, and he doesn’t mind everyone’s thinking, so we can see his mood on his face. I think he is a little bit antisocial and antihuman. He got an amazing memory, he can remember the map about London, nobody can fool him about the place in London. He always wear a black long coat with his scarf and gloves. He never wear that blue cloth even all the peoplewear it, he is different from others and doesn’t follow the rules. He talks very fast, cause his thought faster than normal people. He always doesn’t tell people the answer clearly, he always tell them a key word then let them to think about it, cause he doesn’t understand why people just want the final answer, he thinks they needto think about it. When he is think about something, he doesn’t like someone else talk, cause he doesn’t want someone else to noise him, he cannot focus on it if have any noise around him. He like to put his handstogether and put under his lower jaw. He also think nicotine patch can help him to think. I think this is his detective’s gestures. When he is walking, he likes put his hands in his pocket and walk a little bit fast.

Name:Lingman LaiCentre number: 51415

Page 24: Sherlock Mimi's media coursework

Watson (The helper) He is not very tall, shorter than Sherlock. He has a short a little bit like gold hair. He always wear a black short coat, but he doesn’t wear scarf and gloves. He also wear tie as well.

His appearance and his wearing are very different to Sherlock. His wearing is very plain more like normal person, doesn’t like a detective. This type of wearing is his style, so if people see this type of wearing, they will think about Watson.

He is not like that serious, his facial expressions is not very poor, and sometimes we can see a little smile on his face. He is very polite and normal.

He is a doctor in army before, so when he talking or doing something, you can see he is a polite and good person, he always say sorry to someone else because of Sherlock. He never think he is a very smart and brave person, he just a normal person.

He need to have crutch with him, but when he met Sherlock, sometimes he walk without crutch.

He had a shot in war before, but that shot doesn’t really matter, he still can walk very well. But in his mind, he must use crutch to walk. So you can see a part of Sherlock, which is they are following the cabbie(killer), Watson is running and without the crutch, so actually he can walk. And he always follow Sherlock and help him, even save him.

Name:Lingman LaiCentre number: 51415

Page 25: Sherlock Mimi's media coursework

John Watson Watson is the second main character in Sherlock. He is the helper, who is helping Sherlock and give him some ideas to work out the murderer and solve this crime. He is Sherlock’s housemate, and he is very different to Sherlock. He is not very tall, shorter than Sherlock. He got a short, colour like gold hair. He is not like that serious and not very poor facial expression. Sometimes we can see some mood on his face, like when Sherlock say something he doesn’t believe and feeling confuse, he will have some facial expression on his face. His wearing style is wearing a short black coat and tie. He doesn’t wear gloves or scarf like Sherlock. His wearing style doesn’t like a detective, just like a normal person. Actually he is a doctor in army before, he had a shot on his leg, but it doesn’t really matter, he still can walk very well. For example, when he is following the cabbie, he is running with Sherlock and without the crutch, but in his mind, he must carry the crutch when he is walking. He is a very good andpolite person. He always says sorry to someone because of Sherlock, so he is much more polite than Sherlock. And he is a very good friend with Sherlock. He always follows Sherlock, although he is not as clever as Sherlock, but he always use his knowledge to help Sherlock thinking about the crime and give him some ideas. At end of the Sherlock, Watson even saved Sherlock. He use the information and evidences to find out where is Sherlock, then he wants to stop Sherlock to take the pills, so he shot the cabbie and save him. I think he knows that is very dangerous to go to find Sherlock, but Watson still go there and save him, so I think Watson is a chivalrous person as well

Name:Lingman LaiCentre number: 51415

Page 26: Sherlock Mimi's media coursework

The cabbie ( The villain) He is a not very tall, he got a short white hair, and he is quite old.

This is his style. In the normal films, the villain is quite old, and his appearance is suitable for this character.

He always wear a long coat, a hat and a glasses. There is a listing in his neck as well. His wearing style is very old as well.

His wearing style is very plain, just like a normal person, doesn’t like a murderer, so that can help him to hide himself, police hard to find out him. And his wearing is very cheap, that’s mean he is not very rich, so he help Moriarty kill other people, then he can earn the money.

When he is talking and listening, his fingers is cross and put under the table. When he is sit down, his feet sometimes will move.

His fingers is cross and put under table and his feet sometimes will move, these shows he is a little bit nervous, he afraid about Sherlock, he afraid Sherlock will find out the truth. So these movement fit the character mood and activity in his heart.

His facial expression is evil and fake. it also showing he is very confident. His facial expression let people feeling uncomfortable and horrible.

Villain always very fake and evil. Because they need to hide themselves, they afraid and nervous, but they must disguise they are winner, so this acting is fit that character.

When he is talking to Sherlock, he always very confident, his sound always make people feeling uncomfortable.

Villain always very confident when they meet the hero, because they wants to kill the hero and win. Also, when they talking, their sound is very evil and horrible, that can let people know they are the villain by their feather, they are very bad and evil, then people can know who is the villain clearly.

Name:Lingman LaiCentre number: 51415

Page 27: Sherlock Mimi's media coursework

The cabbie The cabbie is villain is Sherlock. He is helping Moriarty to kill other people by using pills, then Moriarty will pay money for him. The cabbie need money, because he is not very rich and he need to save his children, his children just before die, so from this sight, we can see he is not like that evil, he is a good farther. His wearing show he is not very rich as well. He always wear a long coat, his cloth look very old, his wearing style is very plain, like a normal person, so he also can hide himself very well, police is hard to find out he is the murderer. He is quite old, not very tall, middle height, he got a short white hair and he always wears a hat and a glasses. When he is talking and listening, he is very nervous, his figures cross and put under table, his feet will have a little movement, that display he is afraid Sherlock will find out the truth , but on the surface, he pretend he is very relax, he ensures he is the winner, he thinks he can kill Sherlock and police cannot find out him, so on this sight, we can see he is very evil, when he is talking, his sound make us feeling very uncomfortable, and his facial expression is very evil and faketoo. Name:Lingman Lai

Centre number: 51415

Page 28: Sherlock Mimi's media coursework

Mycroft (Sherlock’s brother) Mycroft is Sherlock’s brother, but he is very different to Sherlock. He is very rich, so when he go out, he has his own car,a driver and a secretary follow him, but Sherlock usually go out by himself, sometimes Watson will follow him, and he doesn’t have his own driver, he always go out by taxi. He always wears formal cloth, like tie, shirt and a black suit, different to Sherlock,he is more formal than him. On his hands, he always brings a ring, and he always bring an umbrella with him, and when he stand there, he will hold that umbrella by his right hand and put his left hand in his pocket, he always put his head up as well, thiscan give audience feeling he is a very good person and has strong strength. When he is talking, he always very confident and has a little bit smile on his face, that can makes audiences feeling a little bit scared and uncomfortable. But he has something similar to Sherlock, for example: when he is talking, he doesn’t tell someone else the answer clearly, you need to think about it and work out what he want to say. I think he is very smart and clever as well, cause he always can find out someone very quickly, like Sherlock.

Name:Lingman LaiCentre number: 51415

Page 29: Sherlock Mimi's media coursework

Anderson ( The false hero) Anderson is the false hero in Sherlock, he is oneof the police. He is not very short, he has a black hair, he always wear what the police need to wear, so he usually follow the rules, doesn’t like Sherlock. He is the only one disagree Sherlock to help them solve this crime, Sherlock doesn’t like him as well. When Sherlock is thinking, he told Anderson turn his back and told him : ‘Anderson, don’t talk out loud. You lower the IQ of the whole street.’ And sometimes Sherlock will say something bad thingsto Anderson, but that is the truth. Sherlock doesn’t think he is clever, and Anderson never believe Sherlock and doesn’t listen to him, so they always will have a small quarrel. But he is a hero, he always use his all knowledge to help solving those crimes.

Todorov and Narrative

Page 31: Sherlock Mimi's media coursework

Background information about Todorov

Todorov was born on March 1, 1939,age 75. He is a Bulgarian-French historian and famous literary critic. He was married with Nancy Huston, and they have two lovely children. Todorov has published a total of 21 books, for example: Introduction to Poetics (1981), The Conquest of America (1982). In 1969, Todorov produced a theory , hethinks that theory can be apply to any films. He think allthe films must follow the same narrative rules, so he produced that theory of narrative. Basically, that theory have five sections, they are Equilibrium, Disruption, Quest, Confrontation/Climax and Resolution. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tzvetan_Todorov

Name:Lingman LaiCentre number: 51415

Page 32: Sherlock Mimi's media coursework

Equilibrium: This is at the beginning when there is normally and calmness. They will let all the audiences know all the main character, and nothing happen, just like normal.

Disruption: This is when character have some bad idea, the murderer starts to attack, and it starts the main story, some scary things will happen.

Quest: This is let all the main characters join this event, always is start to collect

evidences, try to solve it and let everything go back to equilibrium which is the beginning.

Confrontation/Climax : This is usually when the hero found out the villain and meet him, they usually will have a conversation just the hero and the villain, also they will have a big fight in here. I think this is the high tide in the whole story.Resolution: This is where end of the story. Usually all the problems will solve, everything will go back to before, go back to normal.

Todorov’s Narrative Theory

Name:Lingman LaiCentre number: 51415

Page 33: Sherlock Mimi's media coursework

Equilibrium: This is the beginning in Sherlock. They introduce the main characters who are Sherlock and Watson. At that time, nothing happened, very normal.

Disruption: There are three dead event happened already, the police don’t know how to solve it and find out the murderer, when the fourth dead happened, which is a woman with the pink coat, the police found she in an old hotel, the police invite Sherlock to help them solve this crime, so Sherlock go there and collect some evidences on that woman, Watson go there as well. So these two main character involve this event.

Quest: Sherlock collected some information from that woman, then he found a suitcase and a phone which are belong to that woman. He is already started try to think about it and solve this crime.

Confrontation/Climax: Here is Sherlock and the cabbie first time meet each other and have a conversation just between them. They are talking about he was responsible for all the suicides. The cabbie wants to kill Sherlock by using the pills, but when Sherlock ready to take the pill, Watson appear and shot the cabbie from a very long distance, then he save Sherlock. Then Sherlock asked the cabbie some questions, then he knows all the truth about it.

Resolution: Police asks Sherlock some questions about it, then the real murderer Moriarty is appear, then they introduce him in to the narrative. Finally, Sherlock and Watson become friends.

Example of each stag -- ‘ Sherlock’

The Timeline in SherlockWatson had a bad dream, which is a war, then he

find a doctor to talkabout this, that doctor give him some advices, like write everything

happen on him into the blog.

Here is the equilibrium, where is introduce the main character Watson

and everything in normal.

Here is start to disruption, three dead

happened, police start to investigate it. First dead. A man who is very happy every day, love his work and his family. But he

suicide after he take a cab and using a type of drug,

which is pills.

Second dead. A boy just 18 years old

dead, he suicide in sport centre and using that pills as

well. The third dead. A woman dead in a building of London, also she is suicide and using that

pills again.

Then the police have a press conference, they start to investigate it and find three events have many common point, so they think there are some links

between them.

When the press

conference going on, everyone

have collected 3 messages

those write ‘Wrong’ on it.

Watson meet an old friend in the park, they have

a chat, and Watson wants

to find a flatmate, then

that friend helps him. Here also is disruption, it

introduce the other main character and those main character ready to involve

the events. Watson meet his the other main character who’s name is Sherlock in

laboratory. After a little chat, they are ready to look that house where is on Baker

street 221B London.

Then Watson have done some research

about Sherlock Holmes, also the

fourth is happened what is a woman with pink dress is going to

Setting in Sherlock always very dark dangerous places, but some of it not. Some of those places normally nobody will go there, and some of it are very central of the city. For example: their house is in High Street and there are many people every day. But at the end of it, the cabbie and Sherlock are talking in a college, there very quiet and look horrific, I think nobody will go there at night. Basically, these places depend on what is happening at that time. Every time they need to use different setting to fit the narrative, so we are going to talk about the main setting in Sherlock.

Main Setting in Sherlock This setting in on 221B Baker Street, this is where Sherlock and Watson live. This house is belong to an old women, she hire this house to them, also that is where Sherlock and Watson know each other. There have many very important conversation and Sherlock sometimes will think up there

No 1:

No 2: This is setting in a university(college), there is one of the science classroom. That classroom is where the cabbie wants to kill Sherlock by using bills and they have a conversation up there. This setting fit the narrative, because there is happening a dangerous event, so the setting should be look dangerous and dark. Also, they choose college because there are no one up there at night, then police hard to find out the cabbie and save Sherlock. All the answer will clear at there, there is nearly end of the story, also there is where the confrontation and climax was happened.

Name:Lingman LaiCentre number: 51415

Page 42: Sherlock Mimi's media coursework

No.3: This is an old hotel, this is where that woman with pink coat dead. I think this setting fit the narratives as well. Because in these type of crime drama, always people dead in these places, where is very old, dark and normally nobody will go there. Police found that dead woman in that old hotel, and Sherlock get many information in there.

No.4: This is Watson’s (the helper) room, it is on Barker Street 221B. This place just appear on the beginning of the story, it tell us we have Watson this character. His room is simple and clean, do not have many furniture and other staff in it. It shows he doesn’t have much money, he is not a rich person. Also, we can see he is a very lonely person.

No.5: This is an old building, it is where Watson the first time meet Mycroft (Sherlock’s brother), and here is the first time introduce Sherlock’s brother as well. This building very old, I think it haven’t be used for long time. I think Mycroft choose this place to have a conversation because he doesn’t want anyone else to hear their conversation, it shows this conversation is very private, also we can seeMycroft is a very clever and proud person, this feather is like Sherlock.

No.6: This is the restaurant is where Sherlock the first time found the cabbie, then he follow him around London. But,he is not sure about the cabbie is the murderer at that time.He can remember the whole map in London, so he run in thosesmall street to follow him, also is up there, Watson throw thecrutch away, follow Sherlock and run very fast without the crutch. Sherlock sometimes will do some work in it as well.

No.8: This is Sherlock’s room, which is in Barker Street 221B, his have many area is different to others, is very special, so this point fit the narrative, Sherlock is a very special person, he is very anti-sociable and doesn’t want to follow the rules.

Detail about the main SettingThe First one

Name:Lingman LaiCentre number: 51415

Page 45: Sherlock Mimi's media coursework

This is hotel is very old. We can see the background and the door, some of the wall was already broke and top of the wall was really dirty. Also the door is very dirty and old. So it shows this hotel hasn’t been clean or live for long time. There are some staffs on the floor as well, so this room is very untidy. This is fit on the narrative, because murderer always kill people in some old place, then police hard to find out it and usually these type of dramas will happen in these types of places.

There is a light up there. That light is very bright, because when they are trying to find some information, they need the light, then they won’t miss anything.

The whole screen is using low shot and three shot, because we can see the three main character in this screen and use low shot we can see their face clearly, also it can male audiences feeling these three people are very powerful and strong.

Name:Lingman LaiCentre number: 51415

Page 46: Sherlock Mimi's media coursework

There just Sherlock doesn’t wear that blue cloth, because he is special, he wants to be different with others and also he doesn’t want to follow the rules. Also people can know who is the detective and who is the most special person clearly.

That woman with a pink coat, she is a victim, also she is the only victim has given some notes, so she is special one. Sherlock solve this crime and find out the murderer by using the information her left, so she is the main victim in this story, also I think that’s why this series called ‘study in pink’.

Sherlock is ready to check that woman and try to get information, Watson is the last person get there, because he walk with crutch, then Watson and the police is waiting for Sherlock, because they don’t know what they need to do.

The room is very empty, don’t have any furniture up there, also we can see those shadow clearly so this room haven’t be ordered for long time, no one live in here, this is typical setting in the crime dramas.

The second one: Name:Lingman LaiCentre number: 51415

College always don’t have any people at night. So choose there because police hard to find out where are they, this is typical setting in crime dramas, also choose there people will feeling very dark and scared, because usually will have bad things happen next.

The light is very bright but just the middle line those light on. So we just can see two person clearly, we cannot see what around them. So people will focus on two people and watch what they are doing, how can Sherlock catch him.

Those tables and chairs are in order, this classroom is very tidy, so the environment is very good for them. Sherlock and the cabbie sit on two different sides, but they can see each other clearly. They all sit very relax, because they all very confident, this will make audience feeling horrific, they will worry about the hero who is Sherlock, because the villain who is the cabbie looks very strong and clever as well.

Name:Lingman LaiCentre number: 51415

Page 49: Sherlock Mimi's media coursework

Around this classroom, there are windows around them, so people can see what happen inside that classroom, so that is the point how the Watson save him. Watson see Sherlock ready to take that pill, he wants to stop him, so he shot the cabbie thought those windows, so the windows help Watson to save Sherlock.

There is very quiet, you just can hear their voice, don’t have any others voice, so this is one to one, is fair. So it will make audience feeling scared and dangerous, because no one help the hero, he must confront the villain by himself. So people will worry about him and want to look what happen next, is the hero win or die? So it won’t get bored, it is excited and very mysterious for people.

We can know who is the hero and who is the villain clearly, then people won’t confuse at this point. Because they are exactly different, everything is different.

Page 51: Sherlock Mimi's media coursework

His house light mainly very dark, just have several lights on it. There are not lights on the top of the wall, just have two table lamps on the desk, and a lamp on the wall. It shows he likes dark, he is a very dissocial people, he always be alone. The table lamps show he always work very late because he need to solve those crimes and he doesn’t want to miss anything.

His room is very untidy, because he is really busy, he needs to think every time to help people solve crimes, so he doesn’t have time to clear up his room. But also, I think his character doesn’t suit to do this thing as well.

This is a long shot of the room, it shows the whole room very clearly, then people can see his room very clearly and know some personal information about him from his room.

There are many books on the bookshelf, and those books are not in order, very untidy. So it shows Sherlock always read those books to help him know more knowledge than others. Name:Lingman Lai

Centre number: 51415

Page 52: Sherlock Mimi's media coursework

There are two big windows with curtains up there. It can be useful for Sherlock, because he can see what is happening outside through the windows, it can help him to know some information easier.

His table is very untidy, and the chair is outside the table, no push inside probably, so it means he always sit on that chair and use that table for working. Also he put all the staff around him, so that’s display he likes all the things around him, that can be convenient for him.

The sofa looks very old and the surface of it is a little bit crumpled, that’s mean he always sit on it. In Sherlock he always think and talk to Watson by sitting on that sofa.

On the other cupboard, there are many special strange staffs on it. So that displays he is not a antisocial and antihuman person. He always like different to others and doesn’t want to follow the rules, so these special hobby makes him hard to make friends with some other normal person.

Page 53: Sherlock Mimi's media coursework

What do the setting suggest about the TV Drama? When the murderer want to kill people or meet the hero, they always will choose some place very dark and quite, don’t have any people up there and police hard to find out where is it.

One of the main setting place in crime drama will be some old and dark buildings, the murderer events always happen up there, usually someone die up there.

When the police meet the hero, they always meet in some normal places, like where the hero live or the police office.

When someone need to talk to you, they will choose some place is nobody there, because they need to talk something about secret, so they will take you to somewhere you don’t know, there always very dark and quite.

The hero’s house always will happen something. Because the hero will think in there or have some chats up there.

Sometimes, it will have something happen when they are transporting, like taxi or train.Name:Lingman LaiCentre number: 51415

Page 54: Sherlock Mimi's media coursework

When people see those dead people in some old, dark building, then always will have some mood music playing on, then audiences will feeling afraid and scared, because they are confusing, they don’t know what’s going on, so they may want to watch what happen next and know all the truth about it.

When the villain meet the hero, they always choose those places don’t have anyone up there, very dark and quite, also the police hard to find out where is it. Then, it will let the audiences worry about the hero, they will feeling shock and nervous, they want to know the truth and see what is the ending, so they will want to watch what is going to happen next.

The hero’s house always have something happen. Like when the police ask the hero for help, he came to his house. When the hero is thinking and have a chat with the helper, they are in hero’s house as well. And if the villain wants to find the hero, he will come to his house as well, so the hero’s house is a main setting in crimes drama. So 221B Barker Street is the main setting in Sherlock. And when they are doing this in the hero’s house, it will let audiences more confuse about it, they will feel this case is hard to work out, it very complex, also give the unio mystical to audiences as well. So if the hero work out it, audiences will feel that hero is amazing, very clever and tactful.

What will the audience think of or react to the settings?

SECTION 7

Ideology

Name:Lingman LaiCentre number: 51415

Page 61: Sherlock Mimi's media coursework

What is the “idea” behind the TV Drama ‘Sherlock’ The main character Sherlock is the focus point in the whole Sherlock TV drama. He is a very special person, he is a little bit antisocial and antihuman, he is different to the other heroes or detectives. In the other crime drama, the hero or the detective should be very perfect, friendly, polite and have many friends. But Sherlock is very different, he is a really special and strange person. Others detective helps police to solve those crime and find out the murderer may because of money or may because of righteousness, but Sherlock is different, he help the police to solve the crimes because he enjoy it. He is not very polite to people and sometimes he is a little bit cold-bloodedness, so he doesn’t have many friends. So that is why he is different and doesn’t follow the rules. Those producers create him because he is very poplar and have many people knew that book or know that person already. The producers also did some improvement on Sherlock, because that can attack more people to watch it, and also the plot need to be more interesting and they need to improve the relationship between two main characters who are Sherlock and Watson.

Sherlock is remake from the book. The first time, Sherlock is a book wrote by Arthur Conan Doyle, at that time, many many people like it and read it, so it going to be popular and famous. So, one of the reasons the producers produce it is this book it very famous and has many many fans. But those audiences have imagine it but have not seen what it the real Sherlock look like, so they will expect it, then it will remake it successful, because all the reader of the Sherlock will go to see what is Sherlock look like and how amazing he is. So when they creating the real Sherlock, they need to make him close to what the audiences or the reader imagine, then it will attack more people to watch it, then it can become more popular than before. Except this, they still need to improve many many things and do much much work, then they can produce out a good product of it.

Name:Lingman LaiCentre number: 51415

In Sherlock, sometimes even the hero of the Sherlock they will make mistakes and police will want to catch him. So that’s mean everyone is the same when they meet the law, it shows the law is very fair to everyone. Also I think BBC also wants to fight the evil and the crimes by using Sherlock.

Page 62: Sherlock Mimi's media coursework

Someone may think Sherlock is a very amazing person but someone doesn’t. Because some people has read the ordinary book about it, so they may think this Sherlock is really far and different to their imagine that one, so they may cannot accept it. But some one may think this Sherlock is very near and close to what they imagine, so they will love it and think he is a fantastic special and amazing person.

This Sherlock had a little bit change from the old one, the producer make it different and more modern, also the plot of it is more interesting as well. So some people may don’t like this modern, they will think they change a lot, make it complete different, they prefer the old one. But some people will think this modern more fit this era , the plot is more interesting and everything is getting better, so they will prefer the new one. So basically, everyone got their own idea about this.

What message is being communicated? They want us to see an amazing detective who is Sherlock. He has an amazing memory and the strongest the ability of thinking. Also he is very special and different from others, so the audiences won’t get bored when they seeing this, because this plot of Sherlock is very abnormal. Also the producers change a little bit from the book. Then the reader can see what is a real Sherlock in the world. And they are make the plot more interesting, then it can attack more people to watch it. Anyway, all the amazing point of Sherlock can attack more people to see it. Also Sherlock is basically about the hero Sherlock how to solving the crimes, so BBC broadcast this and let people to see how amazing of the Sherlock, also it is fighting to the evil and the crime.
