L E T T E R F R O M O U R E X E C U T I V E D I R E C T O RShield Bearer is best described in one word: HOPE! The Shield Bearer family exists to provide hope in hopeless hearts, relationships and situations. That is who we are.

I am proud that God, the ultimate source of all hope, used the Shield Bearer family to break several records in 2014. In the process we served more people, trained more first responders (ministers and counselors) and affected more families than ever.

It is such a blessing to be a part of God’s work. Our team of counselors, intake specialists, and support team continue to strengthen their skills and reach. The success of our programs and services enables the ministry to grow in all aspects as a whole. Everyone who joins Shield Bearer, whether as a staff member, volunteer, board member, or donor, helps provide hope to children, teens, women, men, couples and families.

I sincerely want to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart who helped Shield Bearer grow into what it is today. We would not be here without you. And without us, too many would have no hope. Thank you for giving hope through placing your skills, abilities, time, talent, network, resources and funding to work in our mission.

Thank you so much!

Roy WootenExecutive Director

L E T T E R F R O M O U R B O A R D C H A I RShield Bearer has been serving people in need for ten years now. When we started, it’s was difficult to see where we would be a decade later. Most nonprofits do not make it past two years and most are forced to close their doors before they reach the five year mark. Our God and our focus on His service have made it possible to continue to serve people through our work. His blessings have not only kept Shield Bearer going but thriving and continuing to grow to serve more people who are suffering and need help. It has been difficult with the economic times we have faced in our nation and community, but God has ensured that Shield Bearer continues to press on towards those who suffer.

This is how each of you help. God will move in people to bring Shield Bearer who will assist us in continuing our mission. Each and every person who knows someone who needs to be ministered to and who is moved to help people in need has a stake in our mission. Shield Bearer is still focused on ensuring that our clients have the highest level of counseling and ministry regardless of their ability to pay. No one will ever be turned away based finances. Additionally, we serve three distinct areas with no regard to payment: human trafficking, veterans and victims of violent crime.

I welcome you to continue to work with us in our mission.

Thanks!

2 0 15 B O A R D O F D I R E C T O R SWe know from research that investing in programs and services like Shield Bearer has a huge return on investment, reducing the numbers of families in poverty and on our social welfare roles, preventing and reducing crime, and improving the lives of our next generation of Texans. Shield Bearer saves and improves families, marriages and lives. And I believe God is using them to change future generations and eternal destinations.

Thanks!
