8 Front Strike First Control Pin Number 1

a. Right stance Kamae.

b. Sh’te strikes coming into uke causing uke to have his weight on the back foot.

c. Uke blocks

d. Sh’te grabs uke’s elbow and keeps the blocking hand open.

e. Sh’te rotates the elbow forward as he shuffles forward at about 20 degrees to the right, causing uke’s shoulder to rotate down.

f. When uke’s arm has rotated sufficiently so that uke and sh’te are palm to palm, sh’te grabs uke’s wrist.

g. Uke goes down on the right knee, left knee is up, his shoulder is rotated and arm extended out about 90 degrees, sh’te’s weight is above uke’s elbow.

h. Sh’te cross steps into uke pushing uke forward and to the left.

Katate-mochi Nikajo Osae Ichi

Right stance kamae

Sh’te offers lower hand and uke grabs and pulls.

Sh’te shuffles with the pull in a circular motion. Left hand is palm down while right hand punches to uke’s face.

Sh’te shuffles back bringing the hands up in a circular to eye level applying the pin.

Sh’te’s right hand holding the back of uke’s hand while sh’te’s left hand is on uke’s wrist. Sh’te’s shoulders are relaxed, hips are forward.

Uke goes down on the left knee.

Sh’te’s left hand goes down to uke’s elbow. Bringing the elbow over the ear in an arc, sh’te shuffles off about 20 degrees.

Uke turns bringing the right knee down and the left knee up

Using uke’s arm as a lever, sh’te cross-steps pushing uke to the left.

Uke slides to his forearm and left knee.

Sh’te cross steps again bringing uke all the way down and pins.

Sh’te pivots on the left knee bringing Uke’s hand palm up in the crook of sh’te’s left arm. Sh’te’s left hand grasps the right should of his own dogi.

One Wrist Grasp 2nd Control Pin #2

a. Sh’te starts in left, uke in right (hidari gyaku-hanmi kamae)

b. Shite offes the left hand. Uke grabs and pushes.

c. Sh’te shuffles to the left with uke’s push bringing his own hand around palm down while back fisting uke with the right hand.

d. Sh’te makes a 45 degree pivot to the back while circling uke’s hand to eye level.

e. Sh’te applies second control. Uke’s tegatana (or pinky side edge of the hand) should be verticle.

f. Uke goes down on his left knee.

g. Sh’te’s left hand goes down to uke’s elbow while the right hand stays on the back of uke’s hand. Sh’te’s weight should be above uke’s elbow.

h. Sh’te does a 180 degree pivot and then body changes while pushing uke in front of him bringing uke to the ground.

i. Sh’te’s left hand will adjust uke’s elbow to allow sh’te to pivot on his knees bringing the right foot toward uke’s head. Sh’te is on the toes of his left foot with his hip near his heal.

j. Uke’s hand is palm up in the crook of sh’te’s elbow. Sh’te is grabbing His own dogi at the opposite shoulder. Sh’te shifts his weight bringing ukes hand over uke’s far shoulder.

b. Uke strikes to sh’te’s forehead and sh’te blocks by raising his lower (right) hand.

c. Sh’te turns his right tegatana to the right bringing uke’s hand forward and down as he pivots 180 degrees. Sh’te’s left hand grabs the back of uke’s collar bringing uke in a circular movement.

d. Sh’te body shifts ending movement when uke is bent forward and hands are about waist high.

e. Sh’te body shifts back and brings his right hand along ukes collar and shifts his hips to the front. Sh’te cross steps and throws uke.

a. Right stance kamae. (migi ai-hanmi kamae)

b. Uke strikes from the center of his forehead to the side of sh’te’s head.

c. Sh’te blocks by raising both hands with a bend in the elbows (elbow power) and high enough not to block vision while protecting the head.

d. As the strike comes, sh’te pivots backward on the right foot extending the left arm to bring uke’s strike down to chest level and striking with the right hand to uke’s face.

e. Sh’te’s slides his left hand down uke’s arm and then grabs ukes thumb and base of hand.

f. Sh’te brings ukes hand forward to sh’te’s center line then shuffles forward and cross steps bringing arms into elbow power. Sh’te keeps weight forward and hands at forehead level.

g. Body change keeping the hands in front of the forehead and extending the arms. At about 20 degrees from front sh’te cuts down with his arms like a sword. Bring the back foot forward without raising the hands. Shuffle forward to throw. Alternatively, sh’te brings straightened arms over sh’te’s head during the body change and then cuts down as the back foot shuffles forward. Shuffle and throw.

h. Uke’s elbow should be pointed straight up with his arm close to his head before the throw (not horizontal in chicken wing fashion).

i. Uke steps back with the outside (left) leg and does a back break fall.

c. Sh’te slides his right foot in with the pull bending the knee to about 130 degrees. Sh’te’s right foot should form a T with uke’s right foot. Sh’te’s hands are palm up, one chest high one at the waist, energy is forward.

d. Sh’te cross steps to the back of uke while Sh’te brings his left hand up and across uke’s left shoulder. Sh’te’s right hand is at waist height.

e. Sh’te turns his hips to square shuffles in and throws at a diagonal to uke’s back. Sh’te’s hands are palm up.

f. Uke does a back break fall.

e. Sh’te turns the hips to face uke while cutting down with both hands. The throw is at a diagonal to uke’s back.

b. Uke strikes with his right hand to sh’te’s head and sh’te blocks with the right hand and pivots to the rear over (90 degrees). Sh’te brings uke’s hand to waist height grabbing the base of the hand and thumb.

c. Sh’te cross steps , body changes keeping uke’s hands in front of his forehead.

d. Sh’te throws cutting straight down with his arms. Uke’s arm should be elbow pointed to the ceiling. Sh’te’s arms should be straight but not locked.

e. Uke does a back break fall.

c. Uke grabs from the side and pulls.

d. Flowing with uke’s pul, sh’te opens his knees and pushes the hips forward. Sh’te raise his hands in a circular motion to uke’s arm pits and then onto his toes

e. Uke comes up out of seiza onto his knees.

f. Sh’te moves to the side on his left knee.

g. Sh’te engages his toes to push forward and unbalance uke. Then sh’te shfts to the left.

h. When sh’te has uke’s balance through shifting left, he cuts down with both hands.

i. Using uke’s energy from falling, sh’te moves his lower body to position himself along side uke.

c. Sh’te cross step forward with the left foot in a circular movement around uke’s right foot. At the same time sh’te brings his left hand forward and palm down while the right hand circles up the uke’s shoulder.

d. Sh’te then cross steps at a diagonal in back of uke keeping his hands in front. End in zanshin.

c. Sh’te brings the right hand over the left hand, pushes them to his center. Then the left hand slides to the back of uke’s collar.

d. Sh’te pivots 180 degrees keeping his arms fairly straight, pushing uke in front of him. (Uke is spun around a little like a rag doll.)

e. Sh’te punches to uke’s face then running the knife edge of his hand up uke’s collar sh’te rotates his hips to face uke.

d. Sh’te is holding uke’s hand at the base of hand and thumb.

e. Keeping uke’s hand at hip level, sh’te body changes back rolling uke’s hand over palm down. Sh’te puts his other hand on the back of uke’s hand.

f. Sh’te shuffles forward and uses his right hand to “mow” uke’s hand and rotate it down.

g. Uke does a jump break fall.

h. Sh’te rotates uke’s elbow and pins.

(7) Shomen-uchi Sankajo Osae Ni

a. Sh’te in left kamae, uke in right. (Hidari gyaku-hanmi kamae.)

b. Uke strikes to sh’te’s forehead. Shite blocks by raising his right hand.

c. Sh’te catches uke’s strike his right arm crossed with uke’s and grabs uke’s right elbow with his left hand.

d. Sh’te pivots 180 degrees rolling uke’s shoulder and bringing uke’s arm down to chest height.

e. Sh’te’s right hand grabs uke’s hand at the first knuckle while sh’te’s left thumb goes into uke’s elbow. Sh’te shuffles to the back of uke by about 6 inches. Sh’te is looking at the palm of uke’s hand and uke’s arm is at a right angle.

f. Sh’te’s left hand slides down to uke’s tegatana and rotates the hand to push the little finger toward s the body but in back of uke. Simultaneously sh’te pivots at least 90 degrees. (This is a forward rotation.)

g. (The third control grab is done between the thumb and the little finger. The index finger should be extended all other fingers engaged.)

h. At the end of the rotation, sh’te brings uke forward and then down in a circular motion. Sh’te cross steps back with a punch to uke’s face, which uke blocks.

i. Sh’te cross steps back, shuffles to the side and then turns and steps forward.

j. Sh’te sets uke’s shoulder into the mat by pushing forward. The third control pin is maintained by keeping uke’s hand turned palm down.

k. Sh’te’s right hand, which is at the elbow rotates to the top of the arm and then slides to the wrist. Sh’te brings uke’s wrist up to his own left shoulder.

l. Sh’te’s left arm cuts across uke’s arm at a diagonal. Sh’te then shifts his weight pushing uke’s hand over his opposite shoulder. Sh’te keeps on his toes and keeps his hips low.

(2) Backward rolls 1 & 2

Starting in right stance kamae, cross step back and sit down. Bring both hands to the right side of the body as you kick the left foot over the right shoulder. Push up with both hands, bring your head up and stand up.

Starting in right stance kamae, sit down bringing both hands to your right side and kick right knee and the left foot over the right shoulder and stand up as in number 1.

Uke kneels on one knee and extends arm. Sh’te grabs over the top of uke’s sleeve with the forward arm and holds on.

Jumping off of the forward leg and rotating the back (left) hand backward, sh’te lands slapping first with the back hand and then gently landing on the left side of the back not flat but in a continued rotation. Then stands up.

e. Sh’te straightens the back and then cuts down with both hands.

f. Sh’te uses ukes fall to shuffle in.

Front Strike Fourth Control Pin #2

a. Sh’te in left, uke in right stance kamae. Hidari gyaku-hanmi kamae.

b. Uke strikes as sh’te blocks by raising his lower hand.

c. Sh’te pivots 180 degrees while rotating uke’s shoulder.

d. Sh’te positions the base of his index finger of his left hand over the radial bone at the wrist.

e. Sh’te makes a 45 degree pivot backwards while thrusting uke’s elbow up.

f. Using uke’s forearm as a sword, sh’te cuts down on a diagonal as he pivots more that 180 degrees. Bringing uke down on his knee and forearm.

g. Sh’te cross steps forward bringing uke all the way down. Coming own to one knee, sh’te shuffles forward to put uke’s shoulder into the mat.

h. Sh’te turns to face uke’s side. Sh’te’s back hand rotates in front of the front hand then sh’te brings uke’s hand up to his left shoulder.

i. Sh’te brings uke’s hand over his far shouler to pin.

(6) Ushiro Ryote-mochi Ikkajo Osae Ichi

Behind Both Wrists Grasp 1st Control Pin #1

a. Sh’te and Uke begin in right stance kamae and perform hojo dosa movement.

(Sh’te and uke begin to strike. Uke strikes. Sh’te blocks. Sh’te punches with the left hand. Uke blocks by pushing sh’te’s right hand down onto her left. Uke then lets go and goes around to the back.

b. Uke grabs both of sh’te’s hands from behind and pulls. Sh’te shuffles back at an angle to the left while bending her wrists to be palm up.

c. Sh’te brings her hands together in an egg shape to about head height.

d. Cross-stepping back at an angle to be about 90 degrees to uke, sh’te cuts down with both hands.

e. Sh’te then brings her back knee to a position just behind her front calf and the knife edge of the hand in back of uke’s elbow.

f. Sh’te rotate his left hand to grab the back of uke’s hand.

g. Sh’te shuffles forward at a diagonal across uke, using the back leg to push forward. With the right hand sh’te brings uke down to the knees.

h. Cross-step, cross-step, pin. Uke’s shoulder is down, more than 90 degrees from the body. Sh’te is on the toes, hips near the heels.
