The Old Town of TallinnBuilt up from the 13th to 16thcenturies, when Tallinn or Reval as it was knownthen was a thrivingmember of the Hanseatictrade league, this enclosedneighbourhood ofcolourful, gabled houses,half-hidden courtyards andgrandiose churches is,quite rightly, the citysbiggest tourist draw. 3. Krvemaa Landscape Reserve Krvemaa Landscape Reserve covers an area of 204 sq km The area is rich in protected plant species (in previous years 23 species of orchids have been found here), a number of rare bird species nest here, including golden eagle, lesser spotted eagle and black stork; wood grouse are also found here. 4. Sre Tirp The 3km long gravel ridge in Kassari, stretching to the sea - Sre Tirp is one of the most beautiful and loved places of Hiiumaa. The story of the formation of the place is connected with a legend according to which Leiger, an ancient hero of the island, attempted to build a bridge between the Islands of Hiiumaa and Saaremaa. 5. Kaali Meteorite CratersThe Field of the Kaali MeteoriteCraters in Central Saaremaais the rarest natureremembrance in Estonia,being at the same time alsothe most impressive field ofcraters in Eurasia. Thebiggest crater has a diameterof 110m and is 16 metersdeep. There are eight cratersfound in the surroundingarea. The Kaali Meteorite isthe last (ca 7500 yrs ago)giant meteorite fallen to thedensely inhabited area in theworld. 6. Piusa cavesThe Caves have been formed aconsequence of the diggingof glass sand by hand in theyears 1922-1966 and are asystem of passages witharched ceilings andsandstone columns. There isa 1.4km study trail, whichaims to introduce theecosystem of the heathforest, typical of thesurroundings of the Caves,and to offer hikingopportunities in the curativeair of the pine forest. 7. Jgala waterfallThe Jgala waterfall is the biggest waterfall in Estonia. The fall is 8 meters high and about 50 meters wide. 8. Kumu Art MuseumOpened in 2006, the Kumu isthe impressive new mainbuilding of the Art Museum ofEstonia.Holding Estonian artfrom different eras, it isnaturally a magnet for everyvisitor interested in Estonianculture. The immense,hightech facility serves bothas a national gallery,displaying the classics ofEstonian art, and as acontemporary art museum,showing off the latest trends. 9. Kadriorg palaceItalian master architect Niccolo Michetti designed this magnificent, Northern Baroque palace in 1718 at the request of Russian Tsar Peter the Great, who intended to use it as a summer residence for the royal family. The emperor named the estate for his wife Catherine I (Catherine is Kadri in Estonian), hence the name of the area. The palace is now home to the Kadriorg Art Museum.
