223 Wine – Lot #2 From the Weiner & Lubowicz cellars “These are some of our favorite wines!” 2010 Xanthos Red Blend Another small lot wine from Oakville District, XANTHOS greets you with a deep, dark plum/blackberry color in the glass and a nose of sweet black and blue fruit and dark chocolate. Velvety smooth and soft in the mouth with polished tannins, flavors of black plum, cocoa, anise, and blackberry jam fill out the profile of this California red. Fruit forward but balanced with good acid makes it easy drinking for all occasions. The wine is a blend of 63% Syrah, 16% Ségalin, 11% Merlot, and 10% Zinfandel and was aged for 18 months in 40% new French oak. Chateauneuf du Pape 1980 The Cabrieres Estate in the Rhone region of France is one of the top producers in Chateauneuf. Chateau Cabrieres Cuvee Tradition Chateauneuf du Pape 1980 is a blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre and Cinsault aged in Allier oak barrels. This rare Southern Rhone blend offers rich fruit, leather and spice character and is extremely limited.

Stella Rosso is from the village of Santo Stefano Belbo in Piedmont. It’s a refreshing semi-sweet red wine, best served chilled and accompanied with fresh fruit and cheese. Moscato D’Asti is a “semi sweet” wine made from the Moscato di Canelli grape from the Piedmont region of Italy. Sweet, but not overly sweet with just enough bubbles. Great as an aperitif or with light meals. Refreshing taste with a clean finish.

In 1788 England being convicted of grand larceny or assault wouldn’t land you in

jail. Rather you would be sentenced to TRANSPORTATION via a ship headed for

Botany Bay, Australia. In fact, there were 19 crimes that would lead to this fate,

including impersonating an Egyptian or participating in a clandestine marriage!

Each bottle features a real criminal, like John Boyle O’Reilly who was an Irish-born poet arrested for mutiny in 1866 and sentenced to 20 years in the Australian penal colony of Bunbury. Michael Harrington an Irish nationalist, was arrested for mutinous conduct and desertion of the army in 1866. It is said that Michael Harrington’s rebellious nature exemplifies the rebellious character of Australia.

Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 possesses aromas of licorice, dark fruits and vanilla, this theme carries through on the palate with loads of rich, wild fruit all wrapped in chalky, ripe tannins persistence and structure to support the concentration of flavor. 2014 Red Wine is a medium to full bodies, juicy and fruit forward wine with expressions of dark fruit and notes of spice that linger on the palate. Blueberry and cherry hints throughout, with even a savory note that pops up in the background. So good, it should be criminal. And if you enjoy white whites…

Alamos Torrontes 2014 captures all of the explosive aromatic character of this

Argentine grape, grown in the high altitudes of northern Argentina. This wine is light

and fresh on the palate, with lively notes of citrus and peach fruit interwoven with

layers of jasmine blossoms and fresh herbs. Perfect for a warm summer day!

Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc 2014 Another perfect summer wine, but this time

from New Zealand. This Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is an exuberant wine

brimming with juicy acidity and fruit sweetness, providing a balanced flavor profile,

light, fresh, zesty, and lingering. Lots of fruit flavors and crisp acidity in this

stunningly complex wine. This wine has been named as one of the top 100 wines by
