Download the Silver Peak Orchestrator QCOW2 Image

Before you can provision an Orchestrator VM on the Nutanix system, download the Orchestrator QCOW2 image.

 1. Log into the Silver Peak Support Portal.

The Login screen opens.

 2. Type in your username and password.

A screen opens to display installation packages.

 3. Scroll down to select KVM, and click Orchestrator (GMS).

The Release screen opens.

 4. Select GA to expand the list, identify the latest release number, and click it.

 5. Under Images and Documentation, click the green down arrow icon to download the file onto your local server. You will be required to upload the image file to the Nutanix system.

Upload the QCOW2 image file onto the Nutanix system

 1. Log into the Nutanix AHV Cluster UI.

 2. From the main AHV screen, click the Settings gear icon on the top right hand corner and scroll down to select Image Configuration.

 3. From the Image Configuration screen, click + Upload Image and configure the following settings.

Type in a name and annotation.

From Image Type, select Disk

From Storage Container, select one from the drown-down list.

From Image Source, click the Upload a file radio button and select Choose File.

Browse the directory until you locate the QCOW2 image file, and click Save.

 4. Once the upload completes, the image file appears on the Image Configuration screen. Click Close to return to the Home Screen.

You are now ready to create the Orchestrator VM.

Create an Orchestrator VM

Now that you've uploaded the QCOW2 image file to your Nutanix system, you are ready to create the Orchestrator VM.

 1. From the Home screen, click the Home drop-down and select VM.

The Create VM screen opens.

 2. From the Create VM screen, configure the following these settings.

Type in a name and description.

Leave the Use this VM as an Agent box unchecked.

Scroll down to select the Disk settings and click X to delete the default CD-ROM option.

To enter the appropriate vCPU and memory requirements under Computer Details, refer to the Orchestrator Host System Requirements guide.

 3. Click Yes to confirm.

 4. Click +Add New Disk. The Add New Disk screen opens.

 5. From the Add Disk screen, configure the following settings.

For Type, select Disk.

For Operation, select Clone from Image Service.

For Bus Type, select SCSI.

For Image, select the Silver Peak QCOW2 image from the list. Note that the Size (GIB) field populates to 500 GB.

 6. Click Add to create the disk.

The new disk appears on the Create VM screen.

 7. On the Create VM screen, scroll down and click Add New NIC.

 8. From the Create NIC screen, connect vlan.28 to the eth0 interface of the Orchestrator, and click Add.

 9. Once you configured your settings, click Save.

At this point, your Orchestrator VM is created.

 10. To power it on, return to the following screen and click Power on.

The IP address of your Orchestrator VM appears after a few minutes.

 11. Using the IP address assigned to your Orchestrator VM, log into your Orchestrator VM by typing in your username and password. The default is admin, admin.
