    In 1998, Singapore experienced an

    economic downturn, which caused

    considerable difculties or many

    Indian amilies.

Some members o the community who were keen

to help others who were aected nancially during

this period approached SINDA. SINDA then set

up booths and other collection centres to solicit

    donations in cash and kind.

Since then, SINDA has made this an annual event,

which takes place during the Deepavali estive

season. In 2001, we began to call this community-

    wide eort Project Give.

This year it has evolved to include more than a

    thousand beneciaries celebrating Hari Raya,

Deepavali and Christmas. Today, what started

out as a small-scale mission is reaping huge

support and recognition rom the community.
