Page 2: SKETCHBOOKS WILL BE COLLECTED THE FIRST WEEK ......1 page of dirty clothes in a basket 1 page of clothes hanging to dry OBJECTIVE: You will investigate combining collage with ink drawings

Your first assignment is to begin decorating the inside cover and

the next 3 pages of your sketchbook.

---Tell me who you are…VISUALLY for the first 2 pages

(inside cover sheet and first page).

You MUST include a photograph of yourself.

What can you say about yourself on these first two pages, visually.

You can cover your background paper…if you want. ANY MEDIUM CAN BE USED!! Draw..Paint..Collage

just about anything…movie stubs, concert tickets, phrases, quotes, more pictures, fabric,

wrappers…magazine image. Cover both pages of the inside cover!

3d and 4th Page (you can take up more pages) Title it: 100 Things About Me! Number these;

write out 100 things about you! What do you love, hate, quirks, fears, paranoias, heritage, etc.

You can draw pictures, color the page behind the list, have fun with it, but number them. You won’t be able

to do this all at once, come back to it over the summer. I will also have my list for you. Remember, have

fun with it!

Your sketchbook is an extension of you and should represent you as an individual artist. Begin carrying your

sketchbook with you and complete a daily sketch or sketches in your sketchbook. Your sketches are not intended as

final projects. Your sketchbook is for recording observations, ideas, images, trying techniques or materials, writing

to yourself or your muse, etc. that might be used in a finished piece of artwork. The 100 things about you will help

decide a concentration too. Relax with your sketchbook and enjoy it.

We will be using this sketchbook MORE THAN YOU CAN IMAGINE throughout the semester.

Examples:

Page 3: SKETCHBOOKS WILL BE COLLECTED THE FIRST WEEK ......1 page of dirty clothes in a basket 1 page of clothes hanging to dry OBJECTIVE: You will investigate combining collage with ink drawings

OBJECTIVE: You will investigate simplification of line by drawing the figure.

PROCESS/LESSON #2:

Using gesture drawings as motivation, you will express with a stick (perhaps from a tree in your yard) and India ink

the entire figure, using as few lines as possible.

Create one drawing per page and make it life size. Label each drawing! Spend only a maximum of ten minutes per drawing.
