Orientation
• Hold shift key to set orientation in a different plane
Lesson 1 Part 2
NO Shift Key: Circle defaults to drawing on top of face
Pressing Shift Key: Circle stays oriented to where you started (doesn’t default to drawing on face)
Making Spheres• Step 1: Draw a circle on the blue plane.
Lesson 1 Part 2
• Step 2: Move mouse cursor far away from circle, until your cursor turns either green or red. Hold down shift key!
OR
Making Spheres• Step 3: Draw slightly smaller circle on top of
regular circle, while still holding shift key
Lesson 1 Part 2

Making Spheres• Step 5: Click on “Follow Me” tool, and then click
the face of the smaller circle
Lesson 1 Part 2
• Step 6: Using Selector tool, click once on outside line of larger circle and hit delete. Voila!
Tape Measure ToolLesson 1 Part 2
Tape measure tool helps you measure specific points for more precise drawings.
The grey dashed lines are guide lines
The points on either end of the dashed line are guide points
Guide Lines• Select Tape Measure Tool, click an edge of object
and move mouse onto a face. If you do not see a grey dotted line, hit CTRL or Command (Mac)
Type in a length and hit enter.
Lesson 1 Part 2

• Do this again, but on the right-front face.
In this case, you have found a point 6 inches away from both of these two edges.

Lesson 1 Part 2
Non-uniform: does not keep same proportions, but scales about the same point
Uniform: Keeps same proportionsHold SHIFT
Inferred Push/Pull
Sketchup will infer the height of push/pull based on existing parts of your drawing.
Lesson 1 Part 2
Inferred Push/PullDraw two rectangles next to each other, and push/pull one
Lesson 1 Part 2
Push/pull the other, while moving your cursor over the other object. If done correctly, a dotted line connecting your objects should appear
OR

Lesson 1 Part 2
We will focus on using offset tool, though.
