On The Coach– On the coach, students should remain in their chosen seat with their

seatbelt securely fastened. – On the ferry, a meeting point will be established where a member of

staff will be available at all times. Students should stay in small groups during the crossing – no-one should be left on their own at any time. For safety purposes, we advise students to remain indoors during the crossing. Students should follow instructions for any relevant announcements over the ship’s tannoy.

– After 11.30pm on the coach we operate a quiet time, students should either be sleeping, or reading / listening to music quietly (wearing headphones).

– Occasional stops may occur for toilet breaks, driver changes, breakfast and lunch. Only Euros will be accepted at these stops.

– If you have some Euro cents left over from a holiday, please send these with your child, as the toilets on the motorway need coins not notes.

The HotelThe hotel is located in Bruck approximately 2.5 km from the Zell am See ski area.

Based on full board, the hotel provides breakfast and dinner in their comfortable restaurant and a packed lunch to take to slopes at lunchtime. Tap water is available at all mealtimes.

The Woferlgut has 30 rooms within 3 main buildings that range from twin to four / five bed accommodation.

All rooms offer en-suite facilities with a shower or bath, cable-TV, radio, telephone, internet connection (very expensive to purchase) and balcony. There is also a small shop on site that is sometimes open.

We share this hotel with another school from Surrey as we have done for many years.

Personal/Valuable Items

With parental permission, students may bring personal items of value with them, but they are the responsibility of the student and the school cannot accept liability for stolen or lost items. The insurance policy is limited in this respect, so if parents / guardians are sending students with a suite of phones, tablets etc then it may be prudent to seek additional insurance.

Check your phone tariff. Expensive / Limited Wi-fi in hotel

Spending Money

Students will need some £s for the journey in the UK and Euros for the remainder of the journey and when in resort. It is recommended that 10 Euros per day is sufficient for students to buy extra food/drinks on the slopes and any souvenirs/gifts that they may wish to purchase for family and friends. A bank system will be in operation whereby students can take out sufficient money on a daily basis rather than take the risk of losing or spending all of their money during the first few days. Spending money should be handed in to Mrs Fletcher prior to departure, the total will be recorded and withdrawals noted. It is also strongly advised that a separate envelope with your child’s name on the outside containing 10 Euros is handed in to Mrs Fletcher at the start of the trip. This is to ensure that each student has money for the journey home to enable them to buy refreshments when we make rest stops.

Passports and European Health Insurance Cards

These will be collected in by Mr James during the week prior to our departure. This ensures that when we are asked to produce documentation, it is easily accessible and it also avoids any lost or misplaced items.Specific times for handing in passports/EHICs will be announced via the school’s daily bulletin so keep listening. If your child does not have a European Health Insurance Card, these can be easily obtained via the web site NHS website, by post or at a Post Office. Although our insurance policy with PGL is extensive, this Europe-wide insurance system is valid for treatment offered under state healthcare operating in the visited country. Students will not be allowed on the coach without a valid Passport or EHIC card. Students with specific medical needs should already have been identified. Students can take paracetamol / ibubrofen if needed, but they must let a member of staff know that they intend to take some, and for what reason. We will where possible manage minor first aid issues in house, as if we go to the hospital with a sore leg the student will not be allowed to ski for the rest of the week. The Austrians are quite immovable on this fact, and also once a hospital visit has taken place the Ski school will not accept them back as there is too high a risk.

Social Media / Website

Unless you tell us otherwise we shall assume we can post photos on the twitter feed/website. No problem if not just let us know. We don’t post names and faces, together. We also ask that students who have access to social media do the same if they choose to post pictures of their amazing ski trip. Website tinyurl.com/warrskiTwitter @warrinerskitrip

Ski Fit:

It is a requirement that all students going on the ski trip should attend ALL sessions of the Ski fit with Miss Keys, registers are taken. They should contact her if they are unable to attend any of the sessions. Students will not be allowed to go unless they can demonstrate suitable levels of fitness and knee strength. This is due to the risk of injury being too high, as the knees, legs and core take a lot of punishment when skiing. Standard indoor school PE kit is required for this.
