An automatic card feedingtable with four workingstations for operatives isrecommendable for higher packaging volumes. Thecards are positioned on thistable, card dimensions are inaccordance with the formingarea. If all items to be packedare positioned on the card,the automatic mode of the machine performs all furtherfunctions.

Subsequently the cards hold -ing the items are transportedinto the skin packagingmachine where the heatedmaterial safely bonds withthe card by means of highsuction forces. Cooling blowers employed ensurefast cooling as well as highcycle speeds.

Skin packaging and blister forming ILLIG SB system

The basic machine is suitablefor processing roll and sheetmaterial. The skin packagingmachine turns into a vacuumformer by locking the blowbox, the material can bepneumatically pre-stretched. At the same time the availableair in the blow box is used tosupport the material duringheating. The longitudinal and crosscutting unit behind the skinpackaging machine transportsthe multiple pack out of theforming machine.

During this transport move-ment the longitudinal cut isperformed by means of crushing knives which arearranged on the knife shaftin a movable way.

The cross cutting po si tionsare determined by camswitches on a switching bar. If frequent product changesare required, conversiontimes are reduced bychanging the entire switchingbar with the cams arranged

on it. Cutting positions aremaintained for follow-uporders.

Control devices on longi-tudinal and cross cutterprevent damage to the knivesresulting from ma chine stops.The error is displayed.

No further follow-up treat-ment is required sincepunching of the hangingholes takes place at thesame time.

All standard sizes of holepunches are available fromstock. All conventional holeshapes can be supplied.

Programming ofcross cuttersThe individual cutting posi-tions are digitally entered onthe operating panel. A cuttingaccuracy of ± 0.5 mm isachieved by using combineddrive technology: electricmotor, ball screw and abso -lute path encoder. No furtherfollow-up treatment is required after longitudinaland cross cutting.

Contour cuts help to improvethe pack’s eye appeal.Rounded corners andgeometric shapes enhance the quality of the pack thusincreasing the value of thecontent.

Punching of the hangingholes and pack separation iscarried out in one workingstep.

A single-row steel rule cutterwith integrated hole punchesis sufficient for singularizationof the packs. The requiredpunching strokes are per -formed across the wholecard format, the punchingpositions can be set.

Items which might be locatedin the area of the dies aredetected by a control device,this way damage to the knivescan be prevented. Items froma thickness of 1.5 mmonward can be detected.

The packs are dischargedfrom the punching stationtogether with the skeletal andbroken out by means of adeviating roll. The skeletal isrewound.

Machine types c (e)-2, -4 and-10 feature a motor-drivenfeeding table for the loadedcard.

Depending on conditions atsite, the card feeding tablecan be arranged in a linear orrectangular way with respectto the forming machine,however, the card feedingdirection must be considered.If many goods must bepacked per card, the loadingtemplate facilitates exactpositioning. The template,controlled in sequence, issynchronized with the trans-port movement of the card.

Comprehensive machineequipment is available for skinpackaging, subject to cus -tomer demands and auto ma -tion level required.

Machine formats according toDIN standards permit anadaptation to the productionsituation and the requiredperformance. Should packsnot fit into the DIN system,formats can be reducedaccordingly. This way opti -mum utilization of the packformats is ensured with mini-mum material loss at thesame time.

The complete downstreamequipment is adjusted to thisreduced format.

For automatic skinpackaging the card feedingtable is linked with themachine. It can be usedfor all skin packagingmachines and is availablein two different versions:
