The SATPOS reduces panic/high-speed brake stopping distance to
around 20% [Tested] thereby saving lives, materials, cost and time.

Problem Statement
One of the primary challenge both the
automobile and tire industry face is creating

SATPOS works by classifying scenarios into normal & critical driving
situations.
To enhance tire traction SATPOS utilises Electro Pneumatic Valve that works
by controlling the tire pressure [between a pre-set upper/lower cut-off
values to sustain stability and steer-ability] in a highly time sensitive manner
to dynamically change the road tire’s contact patch area increasing traction
according to nature of the critical driving situations.
The SATPOS interoperates with vehicle’s various ECUs, existing safety and
stability systems [E.g. ABS, EBD, ESP, TCS etc.] to perform pre computing to
set ready to control tire pressure, current computing to control the tire
pressure during critical situation and post computing to optimize pressure
after overcoming critical situations to continue with comfortable driving.

Conclusion: Static Efficiency & Performance data on asphalt road is 27% increase in vehicle braking deceleration rate with around 20% decrease in braking distance.

Testing Result Standpoint
Test Environment Test passenger vehicle was driven on
snow & asphalt road surfaces.
Areas included are shallow snow
covered, partially dry & paved road.
Using data obtained from the tests,
the road friction coefficient was
calculated & compared.

Methods used ABS equipped passenger vehicle is used for braking test.
The velocity for the tests was 50 km/h.
Two tyre pressures were considered, 1.5 bars & 2.4 bars to modify contact pattern between the tire and the road.
Four test scenarios were set.
Two scenarios consisted of braking on snow with the two different tyre pressures.
Two scenarios were of braking on asphalt, also with two different tyre pressures.
Test vehicle was equipped with a GPS system in order to measure the velocity, braking distance & deceleration.

Challenges, Hazards and Fail Safe Solutions TRIPLE LEVEL FAIL SAFE AND REDUNDANT SYSTEMS TO NULLIFY SAFETY AND STABILITY CHALLENGES.
Possibility of failure of all safety systems are almost zero
• Similar to company recommended tire pressure, a recommended lower cut-off tire pressure value is integrated into SATPOS system.
• In critical braking situation, the SATPOS electro pneumatic valves instantaneously opens to reduce the tire pressure and closes particularly at recommended lower cut-off pressure value which plays a crucial role in reducing emergency braking distance without compromising on safety, stability and steer-ability of the vehicle.

• Actual lower cut-off pressure value’s are determined after performing proper real world safety and stability assessments in concurrence with tire manufacturers.
• Initially a safety headroom above low pressure cut-off value may be provided for additional safety.

What happens in a partial or complete failure of
valve operation or whole SATPOS system?
• Level 1 - During emergency braking SATPOS valve performs electro mechanical low pressure cut-off.
• Level 2 - If that fails then a pressure calibrated mechanical low pressure cut-off is performed.
• Initially SATPOS should be implemented on RFT tires that have the potential to run without pressure in
extreme emergency situations [With side wall reinforcement and tire inserts].
• Level 3 - So in the event of complete failure of valves the RFT tires provides safety and stability.
• Stability & steer-ability remain functional for considerable amount of time and distance on RFT.
• Run-flat tires are standard on 14% of new vehicles, according to Edmunds data.
• Reporting - Simultaneously TPMS actively alerts the tire pressure status to driver to act accordingly.
• Self diagnosis - SATPOS performs periodic self diagnosis for its reliable operations.
• So when one fails, second and consecutive systems will automatically and instantaneously works to
sustain stability and steer ability of the vehicle eliminating hazards and safety challenges.
